Chapter 6 Don't Offend People from the Capital Construction
"Would Preston be willing to consider participating in the Moon Bay project?" Gabriel cut Preston before he could continue.
"Moon Bay?!" Preston seemed excited about it. "You mean, the Moon Bay project, you're thinking of allowing the Lewis Group to invest?"
Moon Bay was known to be the Capital Construction's largest investment project to date. A chance for Lewis Group to take part would be a substantial boost for their future.
"If Preston is genuinely interested, then why not," Gabriel raised an eyebrow in response.
"Yes, yes, of course!" Everyone could see how happy Preston was.
"Uncle, regarding last night, although it was unintentional, I did play a part in it. I offer my apologies to Unity, and if she wishes to have any form of compensation, she should feel free to name it," Gabriel looked at Unity, and stated.
"Gabriel, didn't you grant me a wish?" Unity spoke up, not holding back any longer.
"That's correct," Gabriel affirmed. "What’s Unity's wish?"
"I gave you my first night, so now... will you take the responsibility?"
"Indeed, Gabriel, a woman's first time is incredibly important. If anyone knows, Unity's reputation could be..."
"What do Preston and Unity expect me to do?" Gabriel's face showed no sign of emotions, yet the hint of a smile on his lips is giving him away.
"As I understand it, Gabriel is currently single, and so is Unity, and she has never had a boyfriend. Since fate has brought Gabriel and our Unity together, why not consider dating?" Preston proposed smilingly, he wouldn’t push for more as he had already won the jackpot.
"No, not dating." Unity had other plans, and seizing the moment, she declared boldly, "How about marrying me."
Gabriel leaned back in his chair, legs crossed, he put on a subtle smile as he regarded Unity, "Is Preston still interested in the Moon Bay project?"
"Absolutely, absolutely interested. How could I ever miss such a wonderful opportunity?" Preston replied quickly, eager to affirm his interest.
"Uncle,…"
"Enough, Unity. You and Gabriel don't have any feelings for each other yet. Take this chance to get to know each other better. If feelings develop, we can discuss further matters later," Preston interrupted. He was afraid of losing the Moon Bay project.
"Preston has a point. I’ll let my assistant and the Vice President of the Group talk about details with Lewis Group," Gabriel said, then turned to Finley Boulevard, "Zhongyang, please see our guests out."
"Yes, Boss."
Teresa, who had already taken the day off from the translation job for the fever. Liam was very busy at work, so he couldn't stay with her the whole time. After leaving the hospital, they had breakfast together, then Liam took her home.
The Bennett Residence was quiet, only the nursery teacher was there. Teresa's parents were on a business trip in Europe, and her elder brother was away on a trip too, he also wouldn't be back for several days.
The solitude was exactly what Teresa needed. Once home, she quickly fell asleep, the pills really worked.
She didn't know how long she had been asleep when she woke up by a nightmare, she was soaked in cold sweat. Then, her phone on the nightstand began to ring.
The dream had been a harrowing replay of the previous night's events, a memory Teresa dared not revisit.
Picking up the phone, it was her brother Ethan Bennett. She noticed the time on the phone, and realized it was nearly seven in the evening.
After Teresa had lost her phone, Liam bought her a new one, and also had the lost SIM card replaced.
"Hello, Ethan."
"You sound off, are you feeling alright?" Ethan's sounded really worried.
"No, I just woke up," Teresa replied, not wanting to cause her family any trouble.
"That's good. Listen, I need a favor," Ethan sounded troubled.
"What's going on?"
Ethan massaged his forehead as he explained the situation. Teresa, still half asleep, didn't catch every detail, but already understood most of it. It was about a stupid mistake at their family flagship restaurant, Teresa Pavilion. It was a double-booking of the premium private dining room. One party had reserved it two days earlier, while another booked it just yesterday.
The group that made the reservation yesterday had already sat down at the table, when the group from the day before arrived.
With all other high-end private rooms fully booked, there was no alternative space available. Moreover, the guests were demanding to see her father, Patrick. Their behavior showed no respect to the restaurant's management.
Patrick was in Europe, and Ethan was far away on business trip. Even with the quickest travel, he couldn't make it back.
The customers who booked earlier insisted on speaking with a member of the Bennett family, and no one else from the company would be able to do so. Left with no other choice, Ethan asked Teresa to handle the situation.
"Who's the party involved?" Teresa inquired.
"It's a Vice President from the Capital Construction, his surname is Mellon."
"Do I really have to go?" Teresa was already feeling overwhelmed.
"Yes, you must. We can't afford to offend people from the Capital Construction. When you get there, be completely sincere, and do whatever it takes to please them," Ethan said.
Running a high-end establishment like Teresa Pavilion required the ability of maintaining good relations with major corporations. It was essential to satisfy them.
"Alright, I'm on my way."
After the call, Teresa got out of bed. She freshened up herself, and dressed appropriately, then instructed the driver to take her straight to Teresa Pavilion.
