Chapter 171

For over thirty years, whenever Yvonne was displeased, she would dredge up the past—how the Campbells had once favored the Evans, how the latter's fortune was built on the former's back, how he had wronged her and his affairs with other women.

Tyler had had it just enough.

"I'm going back? Ha..." With a sneer, Yvonne glared at Tyler. "Tyler, wake up. Without my family, without me, Yvonne, where do you think the Evans would be? And you, the bastard child, you think you'd be anything?"

She then turned to Liam, gnashing her teeth in anger, "Just like a mongrel, always ungrateful, scheming, and biting the hand that feeds. For thirty years, I poured my heart and soul into you, and all for nothing!"

Liam, watching Yvonne as if she were a fishwife, felt a surge of defiance swell within. Suddenly, he grabbed the hand she pointed at him, his voice seething with rage, "Yvonne, where is my mother? What have you done to her?"

He had been searching for his birth mother, but so far, there were no leads.

"Your mother? Hahaha..." Mention of Liam's birth mother sent Yvonne into fits of laughter, then her eyes poisoned with rage and bitterness, she hissed at Liam, "Let me tell you, Liam, you'll never see that wretch again."

Liam locked eyes with her, his expression inscrutable, then slowly a smirk crossed his lips before he let go of her hand and whipped out his cellphone, dialing Gabriel's number.

As Yvonne saw the name "Gabriel" flash on his screen, she lunged to snatch the cellphone from his grip.

This time, Liam sidestepped easily.

"What are you doing?" Yvonne roared at her failed attempt to grab Liam's phone.

"If you won't sign the divorce, then jail is just as good. Out of sight, out of mind, is that what you think?" Tyler sat on the couch, snickering without waiting for Liam's response.

"Liam." The call connected, and Gabriel's voice came through first.

"Gabriel, remember when I asked you and Teresa to go easy on Yvonne? I take it ba..."

"Shut up!" Yvonne bellowed, interrupting Liam mid-sentence as she pounced again.

Dodging her again with ease, Liam continued, "I take it back. Proceed with the lawsuit. She deserves whatever's coming to her."

"Liam, you monster, shut your mouth!" Yvonne missed and crashed onto the sofa. Scrambling up, she lunged toward Liam once more.

Despite Yvonne launching herself at him again, Liam had finished his phone call and quickly dodged, hanging up the call. He looked at Yvonne, who was in a frenzy, with an eerie calmness.

"The way you are now, you belong behind bars to reflect for a few years. It'll save you from hurting yourself or anyone else."

With those words, Liam turned on his heel and walked away.

"Liam, you bastard, stop right there!" Yvonne lunged again, managing to grab his arm.

Halted by her grip, Liam glanced over, "Don’t be afraid of your future, efforts will be made to make your imprisonment reasonably comfortable. If you truly come to your senses after a few years, I'll make adequate provision for you upon your release."

After saying this, Liam forcefully shrugged off Yvonne's hold and strode away.

Thrown off balance, Yvonne tumbled onto the couch, too late to make another move.

Tyler sighed deeply after giving her a glance, not uttering another word, and stood up to leave.

"Tyler, stop! Don't you dare walk out that door!" Yvonne shouted furiously as she watched Tyler leave, "If you go now, don't ever bother coming back to this house."

"Don’t worry, as long as you’re here, I’ll never set foot in this place again." Without looking back, Tyler left that final remark hanging in the air as he walked out.

Watching the drama unfold, the butler stood by and shook his head in dismay.

...

Gabriel was supposed to be on a business trip for a week, returning over the weekend. However, on Thursday afternoon as Teresa finished her class and headed out to the car, she paused in surprise at the sight of the man in the seat.

"Honey, I'm back!" Gabriel dropped the papers in his hand and extended his big hand towards her with a smile, as she stood still, stunned by the car door.

Teresa eyed the man she had just been on the phone with before class, who had informed her he was overseas. She swatted his hand aside and slid into the car.

Once she was inside, the bodyguard closed the door for her and took his passenger seat.

As the car started moving and Gabriel pulled her into his embrace, planting a forceful kiss on her forehead, he teased, "What's this? My sweetheart isn’t happy to see me return?"

Teresa gave him a sidelong glare, "Who was it that told me just two hours ago he was abroad and wouldn't be back till Saturday?"

Gabriel laughed at her expression of displeasure, running his fingers over her chin and then kissing her again, her lips wet, "I wanted to surprise my sweet Teresa."
"Not a speck of surprise there," Teresa gave in without a struggle, letting him hold her and kiss her, though her face spelled utter disdain, "I promised Hayden I'd attend a dinner party with her tonight."

Gabriel gazed into the eyes of the charming little lady in his arms, his own eyes sparkling with mischief as he grinned, "Does that mean you are planning to skip the dinner to keep me company at home?"
