Chapter 395 You Don't Know Your 'Sweet' Sister

The bodyguards stationed outside charged in at the sound of commotion, only to find Gabriel had Jocelyn securely held against him.

"Back off!" Gabriel's strength was half-restored. He stood, pinning Jocelyn to him, the shard of glass slowly moving to her still-flushed cheek. His dark eyes, once flickering with fire, now glowered with malice at the bodyguards at the doorway. His anger issued a stern warning, "Otherwise, I won't hesitate to carve a 'flower' on Jocelyn's pretty face."
Gabriel spoke fluent German since Zurich was in the German-speaking part of Switzerland; the bodyguards could not understand him.

The four towering bodyguards looked at Gabriel, listened to his words, exchanged glances, and none dared to make a move.

"Mer... Gabriel, what... what are you going to do?" Jocelyn, finally catching on, stared at the shattered glass cup pressed against her face, her complexion turning deathly pale as she trembled and asked.

"Jocelyn, have someone bring your phone here so you can call your sister," Gabriel ordered the bodyguards with steely resolve.

"Gabriel, you just... Ah!"

Gabriel was never one to be treated with kid gloves by anyone other than those he loved. Therefore, while Jocelyn was still in mid-sentence, the broken glass in his hand slashed across her face, causing her to let out a piercing scream that alarmed the bodyguards downstairs, who charged up.

Gabriel was skilled; the sharp glass sliced across Jocelyn's face, and though the wound wasn't too deep, beads of blood rolled down persistently. Jocelyn, a nineteen-year-old princess who had been coddled since childhood, had never suffered like this and immediately started to cry in terror.

"Please... Gabriel... don't scar my face, don't..."

"Can't take it, Jocelyn?" Gabriel ignored her cries and sobs, keeping his hawk-like gaze fixated on the eager bodyguards outside the door as he continued to threaten her. "If you don't want to become the ugliest woman in the world, get your phone now and call your sister."

"Okay, I'll call... I'll call..." Trembling, Jocelyn nodded and immediately had someone fetch her phone.

One of the bodyguards brought Jocelyn's phone, and as he was passing it to her, his eyes suddenly darted towards Gabriel, and he drew a knife, lunging at Gabriel.

Gabriel was ready, and when the bodyguard drew his knife, he kicked hard, knocking the bodyguard down, and once again, pressed the broken glass against Jocelyn's face, commanding, "Anyone else who tries anything, I can't guarantee Jocelyn's safety."

"Get away, give me the phone, and all of you back off. Get out..." Jocelyn was petrified, her voice shrill as she waved her hands, shouting at the bodyguards.

She knew even out of respect for Hayden's dignity, Gabriel wouldn't kill her, but if the bodyguards made another move, her face would undoubtedly bear more scars.
Since Jocelyn had given the order, the bodyguards didn't seek to cause trouble. They obediently handed over their phones to Jocelyn, stepped back a few paces, and exited the room.

"Call your sister," Gabriel commanded while keeping an eye on the bodyguards outside the door. "And put it on speaker."

"Okay, I'll call, I'll call!" Jocelyn nodded and started dialing Hayden.

Hayden was the person in the world who loved Jocelyn the most. She wasn't afraid of any consequences calling Hayden might bring.

"Jocelyn, are you missing your sister?" As soon as the call connected and the speakerphone was on, a voice filled with warmth and affection poured through.

"Sis..."

"Hayden, it's me, Gabriel. Open the speaker and call Teresa," Gabriel interrupted her before Jocelyn could say more, directly addressing Hayden on the other end of the line.

"Gabriel?!" Hearing his voice left Hayden stunned. "Aren't you supposed to be on your honeymoon with Teresa in Iseltwald? How come you're with Jocelyn?"

The bodyguards outside, who had been with Jocelyn for over half a year, had picked up a bit of the situation and began piecing things together as they overheard the friendly exchange between Gabriel and Hayden.

Hearing Hayden's utter confusion, Gabriel let out a cold laugh. His voice was chilling and foreboding as he spoke, "Hayden, it seems you don't know Jocelyn at all! If she weren't your Jocelyn, I assure you, her end would be beyond tragic."

"Hayden, save me, please save me..." Jocelyn's fear escalated upon hearing Gabriel's words, her voice trembling as she pleaded with Hayden through the phone.

On the other end, realizing Jocelyn was in Switzerland too and that Gabriel wouldn't say what he'd said without good reason, Hayden nearly exploded in anger, yelling, "Jocelyn, what the hell did you do?"

"Hayden, I..."

"Hayden, Teresa must be frantic not finding me. Don't waste any more time. Now, turn on the speaker and call Teresa," Gabriel interrupted, his concern for Teresa evident. He didn't want to worry her a second longer.

"Alright, alright!" Hayden quickly agreed on the phone. "Gabriel, don't hurt Jocelyn. We can discuss everything. I'm calling Teresa right now."

...

"Gabriel, Gabriel, Gabriel..."
Seventy to eighty kilometers away from Zurich, in a hospital, Teresa had been unconscious for several hours before she awoke with a start from a nightmare just as dawn broke.

Physically unresolved from prior injuries and without a drop to drink since yesterday morning, combined with a mental blow, Teresa was incredibly feeble and worn at this moment.

Jolting awake and sitting up abruptly in her hospital bed, she glanced around, and her tears began to flow uncontrollably, without warning.

In the next instant, disregarding everything else, she yanked out the IV needle, threw off her covers, and got out of bed.

"Teresa, what are you doing?" Luke, who had been standing guard by the door, immediately stepped in to stop her as he saw her awake and getting out of bed.

"Luke, where's Gabriel? Have you found Gabriel?" Upon seeing Luke, Teresa grabbed him, her eyes and face full of urgency and worry as she asked.

Luke couldn't bear to speak as he looked into her tear-filled, bloodshot eyes. Frowning, he sidestepped the question, "The boss's plane will be landing soon, about two hours from now, and then he'll be here."

Raymond was coming.

Teresa's brow furrowed deeply, and her tears became even more uncontrollable. They streamed down like a brook as she clutched Luke's hand tightly, her plea almost desperate, "I'm asking you, is Gabriel found? Did you find him?"

Looking at Teresa, Luke felt as though his throat was being constricted, making it difficult to breathe.

But he had to say what needed to be said, and Teresa had to face it, no matter how harsh the reality might be.

So, slowly, he shook his head and said, "No, there's still no word on Gabriel so far."

No information still needs to be provided.

Teresa paused for a moment, then miraculously, she quickly regained her composure and began to think calmly. After a while, she looked at Luke and asked, "What about the search and rescue at the ski resort?"

"The search operation is basically over. We didn't find Gabriel, and he's not in any of the nearby hospitals either," Luke responded.

"What about the residents around the ski resort? Is it possible that one of them rescued Gabriel? Or have you checked who entered the ski resort before the avalanche to see if someone might have rescued Gabriel on the spot and taken him away?" Teresa analyzed the situation with calm logic.

The old saying goes: No body, no death.

She believed that Gabriel must still be alive; he couldn't possibly be dead.

If he couldn't be found anywhere, then it's very likely someone took him away from the ski resort.
Luke glanced at Teresa, paused for a moment, then nodded promptly. "I get what Unity means. I'll have someone pull up the list of everyone who entered the ski resort yesterday and get the surveillance footage, as well as start door-to-door searches in the nearby areas."

"....Okay," Teresa agreed, shivering as she put on her shoes and rushed towards the door.

"Unity, where are you headed? Your health...."

"I need to go back to the cabin. Gabriel's phone might have been lost during the avalanche escape. I must wait for him there; he might be on his way back looking for me already." Ignoring Luke's attempt to stop her, Teresa interrupted him and strode out of the hospital room.

No one understood the depth of Teresa and Gabriel's relationship over time more than Luke, Gabriel's bodyguard.

Seeing Teresa's determination, he did not try to stop her again but quickly followed her.
