Chapter 645 Final (2)
River North, River North Foreign Language Institute.
Teresa had no classes in the afternoon, so after the last morning class, Gabriel came to the school to pick her up, and they had lunch together. After Teresa got in the car, she took out her phone, which had been set to airplane mode before class, and switched it back to normal mode. Many Facebook messages popped up. She opened them and replied to all that needed replies. Then she saw in the university chat group that she had set to "Do Not Disturb" mode, there were over "99+" unread messages.
Normally, the university chat group was quiet, so why was it so lively today? Teresa clicked in and scrolled to the first unread message. As she read through the messages one by one, she couldn't help but be stunned. Because everything discussed in the group was related to Lindara Hart, everyone was discussing Lindara's pregnancy.
A classmate in the group said she saw Lindara at the Empire of Stardust and that Lindara was pregnant, looking like she was four to five months along. Everyone was speculating that Lindara must have gotten pregnant before marriage and had gone abroad to hide. Three months ago, on the day of her marriage to Gabriel, Lindara inexplicably left their university chat group, so everyone in the group talked about Lindara without reservation. Is Lindara really pregnant? And four to five months along? How did she not know?! Yes, Lindara did go abroad.
Teresa was well aware of that, but she truly had no idea about the pregnancy. Moreover, in the past three months, Lindara's contact with her had become less and less frequent. Every time she contacted Lindara, Lindara would only chat with her briefly. Upon careful recollection, it seemed that since her marriage to Gabriel, Lindara had never contacted her first. And each time Teresa reached out to Lindara, Lindara's attitude towards her was somewhat different from before.
It wasn't malicious, just that their relationship didn't seem as close as it used to be. When Teresa found out Lindara had gone abroad, she had asked Lindara why she suddenly went to the Empire of Stardust. Lindara's response at the time was that she wanted to continue her studies. She was working hard on her Ph.D., had successfully passed the exam, and was now a Ph.D. candidate. Teresa never doubted what Lindara said, but now it seemed that Lindara going abroad might not have been just for further studies.
"Why are you staring at your phone like that?" Gabriel took Teresa's phone from her as she was lost in thought, lightly rubbing her smooth forehead with his chin, scolding her.
Teresa snapped out of it, looked up at him with a stern gaze, and suddenly asked, "Honey, why didn't Lindara come to our wedding?" Lindara was her maid of honor, yet she didn't show up and was replaced by someone else.
Gabriel was caught off guard by Teresa suddenly mentioning Lindara, but he remained calm and said, "Didn't you ask Lindara about it? She said she had something important and couldn't make it."
"Then what was so important that she couldn't even be my maid of honor?" Teresa asked, puzzled once again.
"I don't care about her business, I only care about my wife's business." With that, Gabriel lowered his head and planted a kiss on Teresa's forehead. Teresa glared at him, knowing exactly what he would say,
"Give me back my phone." Knowing what she wanted to do, Gabriel didn't stop her and returned the phone to her.
Teresa immediately dialed Lindara's number. However, the phone kept ringing with no answer.
"What's going on with Lindara? Why do I feel like she's been avoiding me these past few months?" Teresa was even more puzzled when no one answered the phone.
"Wife, you've been worrying about your brother and Hayden for so long, are you starting to worry about Lindara now?" Gabriel frowned as he looked at the woman in his arms.
"A classmate in our university group said they saw Lindara abroad and it seems she's four to five months pregnant." Teresa didn't hide anything from Gabriel and looked up at him. Lindara is pregnant. No wonder she went abroad.
"But that's none of your business."
"How is it not my business? When I was pregnant with Robert, Lindara was always by my side." Teresa immediately retorted with some anger.
Gabriel remained silent. "Honey, can you have someone check where Lindara is now?"
Seeing him not speaking, Teresa held his hand and asked him sweetly. "Did you find out?"
Looking at the woman in his arms, Gabriel asked. He knew that if he refused, Teresa would go to William or Hayden.
"I want to go see her this weekend."
Gabriel frowned as he looked at the woman in his arms, hesitated for a moment, then nodded, "Okay, I'll have someone check."
"Thank you, honey." With that, Teresa leaned in to kiss Gabriel. Gabriel took the opportunity to hold the back of her head and deepened the kiss.
