Chapter 371

Gabriel couldn't help but lift the corners of his mouth into a smile. He obediently withdrew his hand, releasing her, and softly asked, "Still hungry? How about another bowl of Tacos al Pastor?"

"Have it yourself." Teresa shook her head, reaching out to him, "Hand me your phone."

"Do you need to make a call?" Gabriel said, pulling out his phone. "Who do you want to call? I can dial for you."

"Mind your business!" Teresa retorted with feigned annoyance.

With a laugh, Gabriel dutifully passed her the phone.

"Unlock it," Teresa demanded, staring at the black screen.

Gabriel's brows arched charmingly. "Honey, you can unlock my phone. Just give it a try."

Hesitantly, Teresa studied the phone in her hand, then raised it to her face. The screen lit up, and the lock icon slid away. She could actually unlock Gabriel's phone.

Teresa glanced at the man beside her, astonished. How close did a couple have to be to unlock each other's phones?

Noticing the surprise in Teresa's eyes, Gabriel's mood lifted immeasurably. "Honey, now, do you believe we're truly in love?"

"Shut up, don't speak!" Teresa glared at him, her pale face gradually gaining a hint of color.

Watching her flush, Gabriel felt his spirits soar, quickly nodding, "Okay, I'll be quiet and just admire my sweetheart."

He reached out to adjust the blanket around Teresa gently, his gaze falling on the marks around her wrist, and without thinking, he bent down to blow gently on her skin.

Teresa was speechless.

Was this man shameless, or was she far too fierce before her amnesia that she turned the heir of the Garcia family into a sweetheart's slave?

She glared at Gabriel again, then turned her attention to his phone, ignoring him. She opened the browser, typed in both names, "Gabriel Teresa," and pressed search...

"Did you have dinner with Teresa last night?"
Back at the Evans Group's office building after a meeting, Liam casually asked Diana, who was following him.

Diana, about to hand over a few documents, was briefly taken aback before meeting his gaze.

"Yeah, I had dinner with Teresa last night." Recovering quickly, Diana placed the documents in front of Liam and nodded slightly.

"Hmm," Liam hummed, furrowing his brows as he picked up the files and began to peruse them.

"Liam, if there's nothing else, I'll head out," Diana offered, noting Liam's inscrutable demeanor.

"Did you notice anything off about Teresa when you two parted ways last night?" Liam inquired without looking up from the documents.

"Off?" Diana looked at him with surprise, then shook her head. "Teresa seemed to have something come up suddenly; she left in a hurry. I didn't notice anything unusual. What's up? Did something happen to Teresa?"

"Do you think something might happen to Teresa?" Liam raised his head, his eyes deep and indifferent, countering her question with another.

Diana faltered for a few seconds, stunned by his response. A wave of intense disappointment flashed through her eyes, yet she managed a controlled smile. "What do you mean by that, Liam?"

Watching her reaction, Liam cracked a smile and turned back to his files. "Nothing, you can go."

Teresa had gone out to dinner at The Bennett family's club upon Diana's invitation.

Then why did Brian know Teresa would be dining out last night? He was well aware of the time and the place and had even bribed a janitor at The Bennett's club to set up the kidnapping.

But if Brian's people had only started trailing Teresa after she left The Garcia family mansion, there wasn't enough time to arrange such a tight kidnapping operation.

The only possibility was that someone had leaked the information beforehand.

If the leak hadn't come from someone inside The Garcia family being bought off, it must have involved Diana.

But on second thought, Diana had no reason to harm Teresa. Besides, after all their years of friendship, if Diana wanted to hurt Teresa, she wouldn't have waited until now.

Thus, Liam's suspicion of Diana was fleeting.
As Liam hung his head low, a sense of loss welled up again in Diana's eyes.

With a muted "okay," she turned on her heel and walked out.

As she turned, her heart churned tumultuously with discomfort.

After their last intimate encounter in the car, Liam had told her that if she was willing, he could be with her openly, acknowledge her as his girlfriend, and even marry her.

But in Liam's heart, no matter what, she didn't hold a candle to Teresa.

Otherwise, he wouldn't have just interrogated her so callously and coldly because of Teresa.

Back at her office, Diana leaned against the door, took a deep breath to compose herself, and picked up her phone to call Teresa.

However, the phone just kept ringing without an answer.

Could it be that something terrible had happened to Teresa?!

With that thought, Diana hastily dialed Sophia's number...

On the other side of the wall, in the CEO's office, Liam leaned back in his chair, closed his eyes after Diana had left, and pressed his fingers against his forehead.

For the first time, he seriously considered his relationship with Diana.

He had said that he could be with her, give her a title, and even marry her if Diana wished.

But was his feeling for Diana love, habit, or admiration?

Admiration didn't quite fit, as every subordinate of his was not inferior to Diana, and considering Diana was now his executive secretary, she was expected to outshine all other secretaries in capability.

Was it love?

If it were love, why would he doubt her and question her because of Teresa? Shouldn't two people in love trust each other unconditionally?

If it wasn't love or admiration, it must be a habit.

Up until now, Diana had been the woman who had stayed by his side the longest, apart from Yvonne, the devilish woman who raised him.

She managed not only to handle his work but to organize his personal life as well.

It must be a habit, after all.

"Buzz—Buzz—Buzz—"

Lost in thought, Liam's phone vibrated on his desk. When he opened his eyes, he saw Gabriel's name on the screen.

On the other end of the line, in the hospital, Teresa was too weak to talk. After toying with Gabriel's phone for half an hour, she had laid back down to sleep.

But in reality, she had only pretended to sleep at first; her mind was haunted by the media's coverage of her and Gabriel.
Liam and Gabriel were both right. In the six months since she had wed Gabriel, their affection for each other was undeniable. Every time she googled herself and Gabriel, pictures of them wrapped up in love showed up, as well as numerous videos of her teaching at Northern River University's School of Foreign Languages.
