Chapter 500 William and Hayden (101)
Maddox stood several meters away, listening to the conversation between William and the doctor just now. He felt a bit dizzy and only now fully understood.
Hayden was pregnant, and the child was William's.
Oh my god! Maddox, who had witnessed countless big scenes and experienced numerous business negotiations, was still somewhat shocked.
But what shocked him was not that Hayden was pregnant with William's child but that she didn't let anyone know despite working so hard every day.
What was Hayden trying to do?
William watched the doctor return to the emergency room, and in a flash, he turned around and looked at Maddox not far away.
By now, Maddox had understood everything and raised his head to meet William's profound and indifferent gaze.
"Maddox, can you do me a favor? Anything you want in return?" Looking at Maddox, William said quite directly.
Maddox also looked at him and smiled. "Why don't you tell me what you want me to do first, William?"
"Whatever happens tonight, please pretend it didn't happen, and don't mention it to anyone," William said with narrowed eyes, his tone calm but carrying a strong sense of oppression.
Maddox smiled. "This is a private matter between William and Sylvia. I don't think there's any need for me to mention it to anyone."
"Thank you, Maddox," William sincerely nodded and expressed gratitude. "If Maddox ever needs Michael's help in the future, I will do my best to assist him."
Maddox nodded and smiled, saying, "Alright."
As Maddox finished speaking, medical staff pushed Hayden out of the emergency room.
Although she was still lying on the stretcher, she had woken up. However, she had a needle in her hand and was hooked up to an IV drip.
She caught sight of William standing outside with a glimmer of light that flashed in her eyes for a moment. But she turned her head away the next second, avoiding his intertwined gaze.
Her indifference was so apparent, but William didn't mind. He took a few long strides toward her and held her hand, asking with deep concern, "Hayden, how do you feel?"
Hayden didn't look at him and took her hand back from his without responding to his question.
William didn't pay any attention to it either. He looked at her with a heavy gaze and pushed her along to the VIP ward, with Maddox following behind.
Once they arrived in the hospital room and settled Hayden in, the doctor gave some instructions and left.
Since Maddox now knew about William's relationship with Hayden, he didn't need to go in and join in on the commotion. He just stood by the door, not entering.
After everyone had left, only Hayden and William were in the hospital room. William pulled over a chair and sat down by the bed.
Hayden turned her face away, not looking at him, and extremely indifferently said, "You can leave."
"Hayden, I'm sorry." Looking at her, William didn't dare to hold her hand, afraid of any extreme reactions from her.
"It's not necessary." Hayden still didn't look at him. Her tone was cold and relentless. "William, you can leave. Don't make me say it a third time."
Looking at her, unable to help himself, William reached out his hand to hold hers, pleadingly saying, "Hayden, come back to me. Let me be with you and our child, please?"
To his surprise, as soon as he held Hayden's hand, she forcefully shook him off and quickly turned her head to glower at him, near low growling in anger, "William, if you want the child in my stomach to be alright, you better disappear from my sight now. Otherwise, you know the consequences when I get worked up."
Looking at her, William froze in place.
The door was not closed, and outside, Maddox heard Hayden's low growl and sensed that the situation was not good. He got up and walked over.
Arriving at the ward door, he looked at the two tense individuals inside. He cleared his throat and said, "William, let me take care of Sylvia instead."
He stared blankly at Hayden, and finally, William came to his senses.
He glanced at Maddox standing by the door.
He remembered the instructions given by the doctor very clearly.
At this moment, they must not provoke Hayden any further.
He raised his hand and rubbed his face. Slowly, he stood up and took another deep look at the angry Hayden on the hospital bed before turning toward the door.
When he reached Maddox's side, he stopped again and said in a deep voice, "Thank you, Maddox. I'm counting on you."
Maddox looked at him, nodding in acknowledgment.
William smiled appreciatively before leaving.
After he left, Maddox approached the bedside and looked at Hayden, whose anger had disappeared entirely, replaced with a sad and absent-minded expression. He sighed and said, "Why do you have to do this to yourself?"
Hayden looked up at him, inexplicably feeling a lump in her throat and her eyes turning slightly red.
"Do you want me to go after William?" Maddox smiled as he looked at her.
Hayden shook her head. "Maddox, can I ask you for a favor?"
"Sure." Maddox nodded, sitting down in the chair next to the hospital bed. "Go ahead."
"For tonight's incident, please don't mention it to anyone, and it would be better if you use a pseudonym for me at the hospital." Hayden pleaded as she looked at Maddox.
"Both you and William care about this so much?" Maddox couldn't understand.
Hayden smiled bitterly. "Some things are too complicated. I'll tell you when there is a chance."
Maddox nodded as he looked at her.
"Did you promise to keep it a secret? Absolutely not mentioning it to anyone." Hayden confirmed.
It was a matter of life and death for the child in her womb, and she couldn't afford to be negligent.
Maddox nodded. "You're begging me like this. How can I not promise?"
Hayden smiled, sincerely thanking him, and then looked at the half-full medicine bottle, saying, "I can't stay in the hospital for too long. Once the medication is finished, I have to be discharged."
Maddox shook his head. "The doctor said you have to stay in the hospital for observation for two days."
Hayden also shook her head. "If Finn or family members find out, they will definitely ask why I am in the hospital, and that will involve the child in my womb."
She looked at Maddox, and the rest of her words went unsaid.
Maddox naturally understood the meaning behind her words and nodded. "Then, at least get through tonight. If your condition is fine tomorrow morning, you can be discharged."
Hayden nodded and insisted, "Let's wait until the medicine is finished, and then we can leave. I will be careful on my own."
She couldn't take any risks.
The Smith Group was so big, and Finn could find her anywhere.
Maddox looked at her, pondered for a moment, and finally nodded. "Alright, I'll go find the doctor."
"Thank you." Hayden nodded. After watching Maddox leave, her eyes suddenly welled up with tears.
Raising her hand, she gently touched her small abdomen, feeling the slight bulge. The baby was still there, and she felt relieved only then.
Baby, you must stay strong, and you must not disappoint me!
No matter how difficult it gets, Mommy will protect you!
The defeated and lonely figure of William leaving suddenly appeared in her mind.
Such a proud William, repeatedly humiliated and struck by her. Would he really...
No, he wouldn't.
He would understand her. He would surely understand her as long as their child was still here.
