Chapter 560 William and Hayden
Suddenly, Hayden's emotions surged, prompting her to push open the door and step out of the car.
"William." Watching the man approaching her, Hayden couldn't help but call out to him. Her voice carried a sense of excitement.
However, as William looked at her, his handsome face bore only a thick layer of frost, devoid of any hint of anger or disgust.
"Hayden, there are some words you may have forgotten, but I remember them vividly." Walking to a distance of three or four steps away from Hayden, William halted, his profound gaze fixed on her. Then he continued, "Now, I don't mind repeating your words back to you."
Watching him, Hayden furrowed her brows slightly. "What did I say?"
With a cold smile, William gazed at her and said, "I used to like you because I thought you were like a man, capable of holding your own. I never expected you to be so stubborn, persistently clinging to me, a woman! Tell me, if I weren't Hayden, if I weren't the Bush Smith family's daughter, would you still grovel to me like this? If I had known you were like this, even if I fell in love with a stray dog on the street, I wouldn't have fallen for you."
Without missing a single word, William reflected Hayden's past words back to her.
As Hayden listened and felt her body trembling uncontrollably. Her legs went weak, almost causing her to fall to the ground.
Fortunately, she reached out in time, steadying herself against the car's hood.
"Did I really say these things?" Despite trying to control herself, Hayden couldn't help but ask, her voice quivering.
William simply scoffed coldly, offering not a single additional word. Turning on his heel, he strode away without looking back.
Watching him retreat further and finally disappear from her sight, Hayden couldn't hold back any longer, gradually sinking to the ground. In a moment, tears streamed down her face.
The pain, it was excruciating! Her heart felt as though it was being torn apart.
The forgotten scenes started to replay in her mind.
"During those months at Southern, I was with you just to provoke Michelle. Because no one had ever dared to taunt me like Michelle did. She claimed you were hers, warning me not to touch you."
"I am Hayden, accustomed to having everything I desire, Miss Bush Smith. What right did Michelle have to preach in my presence? So, with a few tricks, I seduced you into an irresistible state, just to teach Michelle a lesson! You know, how pleased I was when I saw Michelle trying to deal with me for you, only to end up almost disabled by you and Jasper?"
"But, after we had been intimate a few times, I actually started to like you a bit. After all, being with you felt so comfortable as you attended to my every need. I also enjoyed it very much."
"I had initially thought that during the two years at Southern, I would just toy with you. Who knew you'd turn out to be so useless! When my father took me away, you couldn't offer any resistance at all."
"So tell me, since you're so useless, why would I need you? Do I really have to leave the Bush Smith family and be with you?"
"If I had known you were like this, even if I fell in love with a stray dog on the street, I wouldn't have fallen for you."
Why did she say such cruel and malicious words back then? Why?
William, if I didn't love you, why does my heart ache so much now? Why?
She slumped on the ground. Unsure of how much time had passed, Hayden wiped away her tears, pulled herself up, got into her car, and drove away.
After her car departed, in the study on the second floor of The Bennett Mansion, by the floor-to-ceiling window, William's figure appeared once more.
Drawing aside the sheer curtains, he watched the luxurious car vanish into the distance. He recalled the phone call he made to Jasper's father when his life hung by a thread five years ago.
