Chapter 588 He Would Regret Sooner or Later
After leaving the hospital, Jasper immediately dialed William's phone number.
Although it was already past midnight, William on the other end of the phone felt no drowsiness at all. He sat alone in his apartment, smoking one cigarette after another. The ashtray beside him was filled to the brim with cigarette butts.
He heard the phone ring, but he didn't look at it or answer.
After half an hour, the doorbell kept ringing at the front door.
It's so late, and William couldn't figure out who it was, nor did he bother to think about it.
"William, I know you're in there, open the door." Before long, the loud banging on the door and Jasper's barking filled William's ears.
How could it be Jasper?
William furrowed his brow, extinguished the cigarette that was halfway burned in his hand, and then got up to open the door.
"Friend for so many years, I beg you to take me in, it used to be so difficult." As the door opened, Jasper, upon seeing William for the first time, couldn't help but grumble, entered the apartment, took a glance around, and then waved his hand frantically in front of his nose, saying, "Damn, are you trying to commit suicide? Smoking yourself to death."
William glanced at him, closed the door behind him, and walked in without expression, asking, "What are you here for?"
Jasper didn't need him to take him in. When he came, there was definitely something going on.
Jasper furrowed his brow, went to slide open all the sliding doors in the living room, letting fresh air rush in, dispersing the smell of smoke in the room. After that, he walked over to the liquor cabinet, familiar with the layout, grabbed a bottle of wine, two glasses, poured two glasses of wine, then picked them up, walked over to the sofa, placed one glass in front of William, took a sip, sat down, then propped his long legs up on the table, leaning back into the sofa, just like he was in his own home, heaved a sigh of relief, feeling incredibly comfortable.
William glanced at him coldly, picked up his glass, and downed it in one gulp.
"Are you really planning to marry Michelle?" Jasper asked, looking at him.
William stood up and walked over to the bar counter, picked up the bottle of wine Jasper had just opened, then returned to pour a glass for him, saying, "What, you want to compete with me? Well, I'll give it to you." He then continued drinking.
Watching him, Jasper smiled, raised his glass, finished it in one gulp, poured himself another, and said, "If you give her to me, how can I marry Hayden again?"
William finished another drink, casting a dark glance at Jasper without saying a word.
"I just went to see Hayden," Jasper said as he leaned back on the sofa when he noticed Hayden's silence.
William continued to drink, still remaining silent.
Teresa and Gabriel got married. Throughout the day, he had been drinking quite a bit, but he wasn't drunk yet.
"Hayden wanted to find a dad for her baby," Jasper sighed, looking up at the ceiling.
"You look quite fitting." After another drink, William finally spoke, not looking at Jasper, his voice calm and devoid of any emotion.
Jasper paused, then turned his head to look at William.
"William, are you really going to end things with Hayden for good?" Jasper asked him after looking at him for several seconds.
"Why would I get engaged to Michelle then?" William replied without asking back.
"Yeah, I also want to know why you're not marrying someone else, but instead using Michelle to provoke Hayden. Isn't that a bit reckless?" Jasper suddenly popped up from the back of the sofa and asked.
William smiled, said nothing, poured another drink, and kept on drinking.
"Why does it have to be Michelle? Can't it be someone else?" William remained silent as Jasper continued to press, "Is it just because Michelle took a stab for you?"
William laughed and asked back, "Isn't this one knife enough?"
Jasper listened and nodded, "Hmm, yeah, that's true. If a woman was willing to take a knife for me, I'd probably be touched too, but it doesn't mean I have to offer myself in return!"
William smiled again, finished the drink in his cup in one gulp, and then said, "Michelle is a bit scheming, but other than that, she's fine."
"Damn!" Jasper couldn't help but stare at him in disbelief, "Are you actually praising Michelle?"
William turned his head towards him, poured wine into the glasses of both men, then raised his glass and clinked it against Jasper's, saying, "Take good care of Hayden. You are more suitable for her than others."
Watching him, Jasper felt the urge to slap him awake, "William, have you really lost your mind? What were you thinking? You clearly care about her, you clearly like her, why not marry her?"
William smiled, once again finishing the wine in his glass in one gulp. Then, the crystal wine glass in his hand fell to the floor. He slumped into the sofa, closed his eyes, and remained silent.
Jasper glanced at him, smiled, drank the wine in one gulp, set down the glass, poured it into the sofa, and asked no more questions.
If William had been willing to speak, he would have spoken earlier, why wait until now?
He refused to speak, no matter how much she asked.
He was always meddling in other people's business. From now on, they can do whatever they want, he won't interfere anymore. Let them all regret it.
