Chapter314

Reading Mason's gesture, Katherine quickly fell silent, realizing her suggestion was futile.

"How is she? Is she stable enough for a transfer?" Mason asked the team of attending physicians with gravity.

The local hospital couldn't match General Hospital's facilities. The attending physicians, temporarily reassigned from other hospitals, knew Mason wanted Teresa transferred to General Hospital to be with Gabriel for uninterrupted care.

"If Unity wakes up today, she should be fine for a transfer with our team accompanying her," answered the lead physician.

"All right," Mason nodded in acknowledgment. "Then notify Harmony Health to prepare. Once Teresa wakes up and her condition is stable, we'll proceed with the transfer."

"Yes, Mason."

"Mason, you've been here for quite some time. Why don't you head home for some rest? Gabriel and I will stay with Teresa," Sophia kindly suggested, aware of Mason's age and the toll the long hours at the hospital might be taking on him.

She understood Gabriel was not going to leave.

Mason nodded again, a weary look creasing his brow. "Inform me the moment there's any news," he instructed.

"Go home. I'll stay until Teresa wakes up," Katherine offered.

"You better go rest with Mason and the family. I'll also need to look after Michael, and I'll call as soon as we hear anything," Sophia insisted.

Thinking of her duties outside the hospital, including the care of Michael, Katherine nodded and stopped protesting. She left with Mason and the others.

After they had gone, Patrick stayed a while longer before finally departing.

William had disappeared for a couple of days, leaving a pile of work at Bennett Group. Now that Teresa was out of danger, he could finally breathe a sigh of relief.

After Patrick had left, Sophia instructed the staff to start preparing dinner.

It was well past seven in the evening, and darkness had already settled in. Everyone had skipped lunch, too caught up in their concern for Teresa—especially Gabriel, who was still convalescing. While others could afford to skip a meal, he couldn't.

Soon, a bodyguard brought over plates of food. Though from the hospital cafeteria, these were the finest offerings, freshly made and usually reserved for distinguished doctors.

"Gabriel, it's getting late. Why don't you have something to eat?" Sophia gently laid out the meal and approached Gabriel, patting his shoulder with maternal affection.

"Mom, you go ahead. I'm not hungry," Gabriel mumbled, his eyes fixed heavily on Teresa, worried he'd miss the moment she awoke. He didn't even glance at Sophia as he spoke.

"Gabriel, the doctor stressed the importance of keeping up your strength. If you don't eat and fall ill again, Teresa will only worry more when she wakes up," Sophia said, knowing her words might fall on deaf ears unless she invoked Teresa's name.

Sure enough, Gabriel's brow twitched, and he slowly let go of Teresa's hand, nodding, "Okay, I'll eat."

After all, if he were to collapse, what would become of Teresa? Would she wake up only to worry about him?

Smiling warmly, Sophia reassured him, "You eat. I'll watch over Teresa."

"Okay." Gabriel finally stood up and walked to the nearby coffee table, picked up his utensils, and began to eat heartily...

At the Evans Family Estate.

It took nearly three hours, but eventually, all the housekeepers and bodyguards had come clean about the dirty deeds Yvonne had committed, sparing no detail.

Yvonne listened, her emotions ranging from intense struggle, resistance, hatred, and anger to a final, ashen resignation.

Once everyone had finished their testimonies, Tyler finally ordered Yvonne's restraints to be loosened.

However, as soon as she was freed, Yvonne lunged at Tyler like a woman possessed, hellbent on taking him down with her.

But she hardly made it close to Tyler when a bodyguard rushed over, swiftly subdued her, and pinned her back down to the floor.

Tyler sighed deeply as he stared at the woman who had once been the lady of the Evans household, his wife, for over thirty years. "At this point, just save your energy. Don't make this more embarrassing for yourself."

"Why, Yvonne?" Finally, Liam broke the silence, his gaze locked on Yvonne. "Tell me, why do you want Teresa to die? What has she ever done to you?"

"That bitch Teresa deserves to die!" Yvonne's eyes were blazing with fury. "If it weren't for her, I wouldn't be in this mess!"

Liam closed his eyes, not wanting to waste another word on her unrepentant demeanor.

"For the sake of what we once shared, is there anything else you want to confess?" asked Tyler, exhaling a long sigh as he watched Yvonne for one last time.

"For the sake of what we once shared, you say? Pah!" Yvonne spat like a scorned woman, venom in her words. "Tyler, you spineless jerk, when have you ever treated me like your sweetheart? You've been scheming to divorce me just to be free to chase women without anyone holding you back. Don't think I haven't noticed. You've got a bastard child on the way."

With a sinister chuckle, Yvonne added, "But we'll see if it even gets born."

"What do you mean by that?" Tyler flared up, demanding an explanation.

Liam knew about Tyler's affair and that the other woman was over five months pregnant. Yet, he had always feigned ignorance, never meddling in Tyler's affairs.

Despite nearing sixty, Tyler had his own needs. He had already transferred all his shares of Evans Group to Liam, so there was no worry about any outside child threatening the inheritance.

"What do I mean? Ha! Tyler, what do you think I mean..." Yvonne mocked, her voice tinged with malice.

But before she could finish her taunt, Tyler, consumed with rage, sprang from the sofa and kicked out at her violently.
