Chapter 339
"Faith, do you really think I'd use my feelings as some sort of charity?" Liam's gaze pierced through Faith, reading her thoughts and feelings without mercy as he bluntly called her out.
"Are you saying that being with me is like doing charity work?" Liam's words were harsh and painfully cutting, compelling Faith to retaliate.
Lounging back on the couch with his legs crossed, Liam shook his head dismissively at Faith. "Considering your attributes, there must be a line of guys waiting for a chance to be with you. Why waste your time and emotions on me?"
"I've told you I love you." Faith held Liam's gaze, her expression earnest. "There are so many men in the world, yet you are the only one I love."
Unmoved by her confession, Liam's expression remained cold as he continued shaking his head, "The world is full of women who love me, but because you're Faith, I've let things slide. Don't overstep. My patience has its limits."
"All the things I've done?!" Faith scoffed, a picture of innocence. "Liam, besides that one time with the herbal mix, when have I ever done anything to harm or disadvantage you?"
"After Lauren met with you, she attempted to assassinate Teresa, then went to the Evans Group building contemplating suicide. Although Yvonne was behind it all, don't think I'm unaware of the conversation you had with Lauren." Liam's face darkened, his voice growing colder.
"So, you're saying I encouraged Lauren to go after Teresa? That I'm the one who pushed her toward that leap at Evans Group?"
Faith, as the lone daughter of the Coppola family, had a temper. When she got angry, it could flare up intensely. Despite trying to appear modest and mild earlier, she couldn't change her natural fiery disposition.Faith, the only daughter of the Coppola family, wasn't without a temper. In fact, her fury could be fiery, and despite struggling to keep it in check earlier, trying to seem humble and meek, it did not change her inherent nature.
Now, she could barely contain her anger.
"You brought up Teresa to Lauren, didn't you? You told her the reason I slept with her was merely because she bore a resemblance to Teresa and was her student, right?" As Faith showed not a trace of guilt, Liam's anger churned within him, evident in his eyes.
If Faith hadn't provoked her, Lauren might not have ended up on a harmful path, and she definitely wouldn't have wanted to hurt Teresa, who had always been kind to her and never wronged her.If it weren't for Faith's provocation, Lauren might not have found herself on a destructive path and certainly wouldn't have sought to harm Teresa—her mentor, who had never wronged her.
Taken aback, Faith stared at Liam, shocked.
She couldn't have anticipated that Liam would know everything about that conversation with Lauren so clearly.
"Everyone knows how dear Teresa is to Gabriel and the Garcias," Liam said with noticeable contentment, catching the flash of panic in Faith's eyes. "Tell me, if Gabriel finds out that it was your provocation that pushed Lauren to attempt Teresa's life, do you think he'd spare the Coppolas?"
Faith trembled as Liam spoke calmly, feeling a cold fear surge through her from head to toe.Faith shuddered at Liam's measured tone, an icy dread shooting from her feet to the top of her head.
Gabriel's love for Teresa wasn't just acknowledged for her intelligence; it was a widely known fact among the elite. Regardless of how others might feel about Teresa, as a member of the Garcia clan, she received respect from everyone. The love Gabriel had for Teresa was not just her knowledge; it was a well-known fact among the elite. No matter how much others might dislike Teresa, as long as she was part of the Garcia clan, everyone showed her respect.
If Gabriel did discover what had happened, the Coppolas would be defenseless against his wrath.
"You wouldn't tell Gabriel, would you?" Faith composed herself after a moment of panic.
"The only reason I said those things about Lauren was because I'm too fond of you, Liam. I didn't want you tangled with any other women."
"Faith, whether I tell Gabriel depends on your actions," Liam said bluntly, his threat unveiled.
If he could pressure Faith into ending their relationship and put an end to her bothering him, he wouldn't hesitate to take on the role of the villain. If he could coerce Faith into breaking up with him and stop her from pestering him any further, he wouldn't mind playing the villain.
"Liam, you're cornering me!" Faith clenched her teeth, both furious and resentful, yet careful not to let her emotions show too plainly on her face.
"Faith, I've told you, being with a man who doesn't love you will only bring endless misery," Liam said, his expression coldly indifferent as he tried to persuade her once more.
"Liam, have you thought this through? Marrying me is like marrying the whole Coppola family. Doesn't that appeal to you at all?" Since Liam truly had no interest or pity for her, Faith resorted to luring him with benefits.
"I'm aware." Liam nodded curtly. "With your impressive credentials, as soon as you announce you're single, there'll be a line of suitors at your door."
Faith, livid to the point of turning pale, took a deep breath and asked with clenched teeth, "Liam, do you really have to be so heartless?"
"Faith, I don't want to see you end up in pain, filled with regret, or becoming bitter," said Liam as he unfolded his legs and stood up. "If we split now, maybe we can still part amicably and remain friends. But if we keep this up, we'll only end up enemies. I want us to stay friends, not become foes."
Liam glanced at the nearby butler and commanded calmly, "Please escort Faith out."
"Yes, Liam," replied the butler with a nod, promptly gesturing to Faith with an inviting hand motion.
Seeing that she was hesitant to go, Liam offered a gentle, encouraging smile, then turned and walked away.Seeing her reluctance to leave, Liam gave a slight, coaxing smile, turned on his heel, and walked away.
