Chapter 497 William and Hayden (98)

Soon, the elevator doors closed, and the elevator started to ascend.
Although the dedicated elevator in the presidential suite was relatively spacious, it was still small. In the narrow space, everyone remained silent, and the silence spread infinitely throughout the elevator.

William stood beside Hayden, his gaze fixed on Maddox's hand around Hayden's waist. At this moment, he wanted to pry that hand open and pull Hayden into his embrace. Despite Hayden degrading and mocking him during their last two encounters, the more she did so, the less he believed it. He believed that all her changes were forced upon her after Finn brought her back to the country. He had no idea what had happened to Hayden after returning, but he believed she must have had her reasons, and she was forced to act that way.

Now, what he needed to do was to make Hayden confess and face all the problems and difficulties together with him. Once again, with a soft sound, the elevator reached the top floor. The suite butler immediately said, "We've arrived," and gestured for them to exit.

Hayden held onto Maddox's arm and walked out of the elevator, following the butler's guidance, toward their suite. William followed and walked toward his suite. However, upon reaching his suite, although the butler opened the door, William did not immediately go in. Instead, he turned his head and looked toward Hayden and Maddox, not receiving even a glance from Hayden.

After the butler opened the door, Hayden went inside directly, holding onto Maddox. After their figures disappeared, William smirked as he stepped into his suite. "I'm sorry for making you act along with me at such short notice," Hayden said apologetically to Maddox once they were inside the suite and the butler had left.

Maddox smiled and asked, "Did I perform well?" Obviously, Hayden had no intention of discussing the matter with William, so Maddox didn't ask further. Hayden smiled and nodded, saying, "I'll still need your help for the next two days. I'll make sure to repay you well once we return to Imperial Capital."

Maddox asked with a teasing tone, holding onto the last part of Hayden’s sentence, “How are you going to repay me?”

Hayden could hear the ambiguity in his words, but she didn't mind because she knew Maddox would never do anything to her. So, with a pure smile, she replied, "Let Maddox command me." Maddox nodded and smiled, slightly tilting his chin toward the direction of the main bedroom, saying, "Ladies, first, I'll sleep in the guest bedroom. Or if you find it inconvenient, let me know."

"It's very convenient," Maddox's words were interrupted by Hayden, who smiled and said, "I'll take the main bedroom, thank you!"

Maddox nodded, smiled, and watched her enter the main bedroom before closing the door.
Hayden was Hayden, and she never bothered with trivial matters. It was comfortable to be around her.

Once Hayden entered the main bedroom, she never came out.

Around nine o'clock at night, Maddox received a call from a friend inviting him for a drink.

After all, he should give Hayden some alone time in the suite, as the person next door was still waiting.

After getting dressed, Maddox knocked on Hayden's door.

Upon hearing the sound, Hayden was handling business inside put down her laptop, and walked out.

"I made plans to meet a friend for a drink so that I might come back late," Maddox reported succinctly.

Hayden nodded and smiled, saying, "Alright."

"Do you need anything brought back for you?" Maddox nodded and asked again after turning to leave.

Hayden pursed her lips and thought for a moment. "Snacks or desserts."

Maddox smiled, nodded in agreement, and left.

After watching Maddox leave, Hayden leaned against the door frame, tilting her head and silently pondering. She wondered what William next door was doing at that moment. Would he truly misunderstand her and Maddox?

Just as she was thinking about it, the doorbell suddenly rang.

She thought Maddox had forgotten something and hurriedly returned to retrieve it. After all, he had only been gone for a few minutes.

So, Hayden quickly went to open the door.

As soon as the door opened, another face appeared before her.

In the next second, she immediately tried to close the door.

However, just as she closed the door, a strong arm reached out and braced against it, preventing her from closing it.

"Can we talk?" William helplessly negotiated with her while looking at the woman in front of him.

Since the door couldn't be shut, Hayden left it open.

She was pregnant and couldn't physically confront William.

Thus, she stopped and crossed her arms, wearing a carefree expression. Raising an eyebrow, she said, "I have already explained everything to William. If he still wants to talk, then be my guest and come in."

Looking at her, William furrowed his handsome brows slightly and walked in after lifting his leg. Then he closed the door behind him.

Ignoring him, Hayden went straight to the bar counter, opened a bottle of alcohol, poured half a glass, and lifted it to her lips.

However, a long arm reached out and directly snatched the glass from her hand before she could take a sip.

"Alcohol is really bad for the baby's development, and you can't drink anymore," William forcefully commanded, taking the glass from Hayden's hand.

Sitting on a high stool at the bar, Hayden couldn't help but smirk at him. "William, are you joking?"

Seeing Hayden still hesitant in her attitude, William closed his eyes helplessly and pleaded almost humbly, "Hayden, tell me, what do I have to do for you to be honest with me, for you to let me face and solve all the problems with you?"

"It's simple. Disappear from my life, never bother me again. Even if we accidentally meet, pretend you don't know me at all." Hayden looked at him with disdain. "That's my most sincere truth about you!"

Looking at her, William's good temper and patience collapsed at that moment. All the suppressed negative emotions burst out like a roaring volcano.

Suddenly, he couldn't control himself anymore. Taking a step forward, he grabbed Hayden's wrist and pulled her closer, glaring at her. Through gritted teeth, he said, word by word, "Hayden, say it again!"

Hayden lifted her head and looked into his deep, turbulent eyes, calmly smiling as she echoed, "William, disappear from my life; never bother me again. Even if we accidentally meet, pretend you don't know me. That's the best ending between you and me."

"Hayden!" Looking at Hayden, who was so close, William almost ground his teeth in hatred at that moment. But his remaining rationality made him struggle to control his emotions. Gradually, he calmed down and said in a calm voice, "Maddox is just your boss. Why do you have to put on a show for me?"

Looking at William, who was restraining himself from erupting, Hayden truly felt heartache.

Instead of watching him torment himself like this, she would rather see him curse at her, slap her, and leave.

But the more he restrained himself, the more it showed that she hadn't been ruthless enough.

So, Hayden continued to sneer and mock, "William, did you forget how we got involved with each other before? Weren't you my boss back then?"

He looked at her. William closed his eyes and then opened them again. There was warmth once more in his eyes. In a hoarse voice, he said, "Do you really have to talk to me like this, Hayden?"

"William, are you stupid or just shameless? I've already said everything I want to say clearly enough. How many more times do you want me to say it?" William restrained his temper, but Hayden couldn't restrain herself anymore. She suddenly roared in anger.

She had tried her best to act in front of William, but she was afraid that if things continued like this, she would break down, not be able to continue acting, and confess everything to him.

"Hayden, all I want is a truthful statement from you. Is it really that difficult?" she shouted, as did William. His emotions collapsed again, out of control.

"Every word I just said to you was the truth. Can't you understand?" she glared at him, filled with anger, and Hayden roared.

"Hayden!"
