Chapter296Pregnancy with twins is really tough

"Liam, Lauren is no longer in danger, but she wants to see you." In the early morning, Thomas's call finally came, reporting Lauren's situation to Liam.

Lauren was fine, and Liam breathed a sigh of relief.

In fact, apart from Teresa, Lauren was the only woman Liam had genuine feelings for among all the women he had been with.

But even with genuine feelings, Liam was far from being unable to live without Lauren.

"I won't see her." Upon hearing that Lauren still wanted to see him, Liam's face turned incredibly grim, his voice cold as ice, "Tell her, if she continues causing trouble, she will get nothing." With that, Liam hung up the phone without another word.

On the other end of the phone, Thomas stood by Lauren's bedside. He had put the call on speaker while talking to Liam, and Lauren heard every word clearly.

At that moment, upon hearing the dial tone after the call was ended, Lauren lay in bed, tears starting to fall.

Thomas looked at her, furrowing his brows helplessly, and advised her, "Lauren, Liam's attitude is clear. You initiated everything from the start, and for these past few months, Liam has never mistreated you. Now, Liam is about to get engaged, and he cannot hurt his fiancée for you. If you don't want to ruin your relationship with Liam completely, take the money he gave you, focus on your affairs, and stop bothering Liam."

Lauren lay on the hospital bed, her small, pale face streaked with tears, evoking a sense of pity.

At nineteen, just coming of age, she was still a child in the eyes of Thomas, who was in his thirties.

With tears in her eyes, Lauren looked at Thomas and took out the bank card Liam had given her, handing it to him, whispering, "Thomas, I don't want his money. Please give it back to him."

"Since Liam gave it to you, keep it safe, use the money for your education and life, and find a proper job after graduation." Thomas looked at the bank card she handed over, his brows furrowing deeper, sighing, "No one will know your relationship with Liam if you don't cause trouble. If you make a scene, the one who will be affected the most is not Liam but you. You might not be able to lead a normal student life anymore. So, think carefully, and don't do anything harmful to yourself or others."
"Thomas, I..."

"Enough, it's late. Rest well. I have to go." Thomas had done and said what needed to be done. He didn't want to waste any more time on Lauren, as she was not a good girl.

Without waiting for Lauren to speak again, Thomas interrupted her, "A caregiver will come to take care of you in the morning. I will settle the hospital fees. Stay in the hospital, let your wounds heal, and after you are discharged, don't cause any more trouble." With that, Thomas left without hesitation.

Liam's departure left Lauren holding the bank card, her hand falling back down. She hadn't expected such ruthlessness from him, especially his failure to visit her after her suicide attempt.

Was she really just a tool for fulfilling his physical needs in his eyes?

If so, then why was he so kind to her before? Buying her whatever she wanted?

No, she refused to believe she was just a tool.

Lauren's phone buzzed from beneath her pillow, showing an unknown number on its screen.

It was Yvonne again.

She didn't want to answer, but she didn't dare ignore it either.

"Vanessa." After a moment of hesitation, Lauren answered the phone.

"How come Liam hasn't even come to see you?" Yvonne's voice came through the phone, annoyed.

She was frustrated with Lauren's incompetence. After so long, she still couldn't hold onto Liam's heart.

Teresa and Liam had only been together for a few months, and it was unclear if they had even slept together. Yet, Liam was devoted to Teresa, even cutting ties with Yvonne as a result.

"No, he told me not to cause trouble anymore otherwise, I'll get nothing," Lauren replied obediently.

She didn't want to cause trouble anymore. After all, apart from her life, she had nothing left. She didn't want to risk her life.

"What's wrong? Are you planning to give up like this? Don't you care about your parents' lives?" Yvonne's voice turned cold and threatening.

"Vanessa, Liam really doesn't like me. If I continue causing trouble, he will hate me," Lauren almost cried in pleading.

"No, you're wrong. Liam definitely likes you. Otherwise, why would he give you so many gifts and let you stay in his villa?" Yvonne's voice suddenly softened, "Lauren, listen to me. As long as you don't let go, keep persisting. Liam will eventually soften his heart and keep you by his side."

"Vanessa, I..."

"Shut up!" Before Lauren could plead any further, Yvonne suddenly erupted in anger, "Are you planning not to listen to me? Lauren, let me tell you, if you don't listen to me, not only will your parents spend the rest of their lives in prison, but I will also make sure you can't stay in school."

"No... no!" Lauren was scared, trembling uncontrollably, "I will listen to you, Vanessa, I'll listen to you."

"Good, very good! Behave yourself these days, take care of yourself, and I'll tell you what to do when you're better."

"Yes, Vanessa."
