Chapter 636 Truly Happy
In the afternoon, William didn't go out at all, working from home instead. He skipped all meetings he could and attended the necessary ones online.
Around five in the afternoon, after Chloe and Logan had a good nap and a feed, William personally took the two little ones for a stroll in the garden.
Teresa had no classes in the afternoon, so she spent the time with Robert at the Bennett family. William took Chloe and Logan for a walk, and Teresa and Robert naturally joined them.
Seeing William's eyes twinkling with joy since meeting Chloe and Logan, Teresa couldn't help but feel elated.
"Bro, why didn't I notice before how caring you are towards Chloe and Logan? You've been with them all afternoon, reluctant to leave," Teresa teased as they walked together, each pushing a stroller.
William glanced at her without a word but stopped to hold Chloe's little hand about to go into her mouth, grabbed a wet wipe, cleaned her hands, and then attended to Logan.
Witnessing his attentiveness, Teresa couldn't help but admire him.
At that moment, William appeared more like a doting father than the CEO of a billion-dollar conglomerate.
"Bro, you used to act so aloof, showing indifference to Hayden, Chloe, and Logan. Isn't it tiring?" Teresa chuckled, teasing William.
"I didn't," William replied, lifting his gaze to her.
Teresa almost burst out laughing but managed to hold it in, giving him face in front of the three little ones.
"Uncle is not tired, Mom misunderstood. Uncle is the best. I love Uncle," Robert hugged William's thigh, defending him earnestly.
Teresa was speechless at her son's words.
"Robert, are you bullying my wife?" Gabriel suddenly appeared from somewhere, scooping Teresa into his arms and giving a disapproving look at Robert hugging William's leg.
Robert quickly shook his head, then released William's leg and rushed to hug Teresa, claiming, "I'm not bullying Mom, Dad, you're the one bullying Mom. I love Mom the most."
"Right," Teresa nodded, lifting Robert and kissing his cheek before glancing at Gabriel, "I'm not bullying Mom, the one who bullies Mom the most is Dad."
"This is Chloe, this is Logan. When Chloe and Logan grow up, they can play with me," Robert introduced the two kids to his father.
Gabriel took Robert from Teresa's arms, kissed him, then looked at Chloe and Logan, nodding, "Chloe and Logan are so adorable. Were you both this cute as babies?"
"Robert was born full-term, and by the time he was a couple of months old, he was already over ten kilograms, cuter than Chloe and Logan," William remarked with a smile.
Gabriel couldn't help but feel a twinge of jealousy towards William, realizing he had missed out on everything from Robert's birth to his toddler years.
"Do you think Chloe and Robert look alike?" Gabriel suddenly asked, glancing at Chloe and Logan.
"It's normal. Chloe looks like my brother, and Robert looks like Uncle, so it's not strange that they resemble each other," Teresa explained.
Gabriel smiled, released Teresa, and put down Robert, saying, "Let me hold Chloe, maybe I'll have a daughter soon too."
The three adults and three children enjoyed their time in the garden, laughing and chatting until Sophia came to inform them that dinner was ready, prompting them to head back inside.
"Mama, Mama, I want a hug too," on their way back, seeing Gabriel holding Chloe and Sophia holding Logan, Robert felt left out and reached out for a hug.
"Come here, Uncle will hug you," William stood by, bending down to lift Robert before Teresa could, earning a kiss from the happy boy.
"You're a big brother now, why do you still want hugs?" Teresa gently scolded Robert, seeing his joyous expression.
"I'm a big brother, but I'm still a kid," Robert pouted.
Teresa shook her head, "Little brothers and sisters are babies, not you! You can't call yourself a baby anymore because you're about to start kindergarten, and if every baby needs a teacher to carry them, the teachers will be exhausted, right?"
Robert nodded, then raised a little finger, "Then just this once, okay, Mom?"
"Okay, of course, our Robert is so obedient, setting an example for his siblings. If his siblings don't behave when they grow up, he'll spank their little bottoms," Robert earnestly nodded.
Everyone burst into laughter at his words.
Due to the time difference, when Hayden arrived at Lumina Falls, it was early morning there.
After settling in at the hotel, taking a shower and changing clothes, Hayden checked the time, realizing it was early morning in the States. Chloe and Logan would have finished their garden walk by now, so she sent a video call invitation to the nanny to see the kids.
The call connected quickly, but instead of the nanny, Hayden saw William changing Logan's diaper with great care. The nanny kept the camera on them silently, not wanting to disturb William's focused attention.
Hayden was captivated by the scene, watching William, tall and attentive, wiping and changing Logan's diaper expertly as if he had done it countless times before.
"Hayden, William takes such good care of the kids, handling many things himself without needing our help," the nanny finally spoke as William finished changing Logan's diaper perfectly.
Hayden was so engrossed that she only snapped out of it when the nanny spoke.
As William turned to look at the nanny upon her words, their eyes met through the distance and the phone screen.
"Hayden, it's William," the nanny smiled.
William nodded towards the nanny and then waved at Chloe and Logan, saying, "Come, Chloe and Logan, say hi to Mom."
After the greetings, William turned to the nanny, "Come over, let Chloe and Logan see Mom."
"Okay, Mr. Tang," the nanny smiled and went over, showing the kids to Hayden through the screen.
The kids recognized Hayden immediately, waving excitedly at her.
Watching the two little ones she missed dearly, Hayden's heart melted, feeling overwhelmed with tenderness.
She didn't know how happy she was. She talked to the kids for a while. While she chatted with the kids, William stood quietly beside, watching the children.
As she finished her conversation with the kids and wanted to say something to him, his phone vibrated in his pocket.
Checking his phone, William left the nursery and went to the study to take the call.
"Hayden, William left," the nanny informed Hayden as William departed.
Hayden smiled faintly, hiding any disappointment she might have felt, and nodded, "I know. If anything happens to the kids, remember to call me first."
"Alright, we know. You can trust us," the nanny assured her.
After saying goodbye to Chloe and Logan, Hayden ended the video call.
Putting down her phone, Hayden sank into the sofa, her thoughts drifting.
It was evident that William truly loved Chloe and Logan, which was why he stayed home to care for them instead of going to the office. He did so many things personally because of his love for them.
They were truly fortunate to have such a loving father.
If their growth didn't involve William, it would be a great loss and regret.
Suddenly, her phone buzzed.
Snapping back to reality, Hayden glanced down at her phone screen, her breath catching as she saw the numbers flashing on the screen.
