Chapter 280 Car Accident?

Teresa and Gabriel left the diner with Croissant and spent nearly two hours at the amusement park, not leaving until well past three in the afternoon.

Croissant, their joyous bundle, was thoroughly worn out and blissfully asleep in the car seat.

Exhausted, Teresa rested against Gabriel, drowsily snuggling into his embrace as her eyes fought to stay open.

Gabriel's health wasn't perfect, but he still had more stamina than Teresa.

At that moment, holding his dozing love and watching his sleeping son, he felt indescribable contentment and bliss.

"Luke, check why Unity was at the park," Gabriel quietly instructed Luke in the passenger seat after planting a soft kiss on Teresa's forehead as he thought about Unity and her son.

"My love, do you suspect Unity means to harm us?" Teresa asked, her voice soft and weak.

Gabriel kissed the top of her head reassuringly and said, "Better safe than sorry."

Since their marriage, Teresa had suffered a lot, and Gabriel couldn't risk her safety any further.

Teresa chuckled, tilting her head to meet his gaze, "But your suspicion seems a bit unfounded, doesn't it? If Unity meant me harm, she wouldn't have waited until now or dragged her son into this afternoon's charade."

Gazing into her shimmering eyes, Gabriel bent down once again to kiss her forehead, chuckling, “You’re not wrong in your analysis, but it’s always good to be prepared.”

Teresa smiled and nodded in agreement. “Yeah, I guess you are right.”

“You tired? Why don’t you take a nap?” Gabriel’s long arms enveloped her, providing comfort and a sense of security as she drifted off to sleep.

“Ah!”

Suddenly, the car screeched to a halt, and Teresa let out a small gasp. Instinctively, Gabriel held her tight, both of their bodies lurching forward from the momentum.

Thankfully, Gabriel’s quick reflexes had him grabbing the door handle in time, preventing them from lunging further and bouncing them back securely into their seats.

Glancing over at Croissant in the car seat, he noticed the child was still blissfully asleep, untouched by the commotion, thanks to the snug seatbelt.

“What’s going on?”

Bang! Bang! Bang!

As Gabriel’s deep, inquiring voice filled the car, Unity suddenly appeared at their window, frantically banging and crying out tearfully, “Teresa, Gabriel, please save my son, save Russell!”

Seeing Unity’s anguished face through the pristine window, Teresa’s brows knit together in confusion, and she reached to roll it down.

“Honey.” Gabriel caught her hand quickly, stopping her, then instructed Luke, who was driving, “Have someone check it out.”

“Right away, Mr. Gabriel.” With a nod, Luke stepped out of the vehicle, ordering the other bodyguards to assess the situation.

Bang! Bang!

Still, outside, Unity continued to pound on the window, her cries growing louder. "Teresa, please, for the sake of our friendship, save Russell, save my son..."

Once Luke had given his orders, he quickly moved to pull the sobbing Unity away from the car, ensuring she couldn't get any closer.

Inside the luxurious vehicle, Teresa looked uneasily at Unity outside and turned to Gabriel. "Honey, something has happened to Unity's child. Should we check on them?"

Gabriel met her gaze and shook his head firmly. "The boy's asleep. What if we leave the car and he wakes up? Let's wait for the bodyguards to report back, okay?"

Teresa glanced at the little one, still peacefully asleep, unaffected by the drama, and then back to Gabriel, nodding.

Gabriel was right. They would wait for a clear understanding of the situation.

After all, people's motives can be unpredictable, and the safety of their family comes first.

"Mr. Gabriel, Unity's son, was hit by a car, and the driver fled the scene."

Quickly grasping the situation, the bodyguard returned and promptly briefed Gabriel and Teresa.

Teresa's brows knitted together as she peered out the car window at Unity being held back by the bodyguard, not allowed to come any closer.

"How bad is it?" Gabriel frowned slightly.

"It's pretty serious," the bodyguard replied, looking down.

"Honey, we should take a look," Teresa said, reaching for the car door.

"Wait." Gabriel quickly held her back and pulled her into his embrace. He gave a firm order to the bodyguard, "No time for the ambulance. Take him to the hospital immediately, and notify the doctors to do everything they can."

"Yes, Mr. Gabriel," the bodyguard nodded and hurried off.

"Teresa, Teresa, save my son, please save my son..." Unity's desperate cries continued from outside the car window. Teresa looked over at her, thinking of the little boy who had eaten with them just over two hours ago, and sweetly greeted them, calling out, "Hey, Uncle and Auntie." Looking again at their own peacefully sleeping Croissant, Teresa's heart clenched.

As a mother, the love for a child was something each could deeply empathize with.

"First Unity lost her child, now this accident, and we're involved both times. It's hard to tell if it's intentional," Gabriel said, holding Teresa close and watching Unity through the window.

"Could she really be that cruel to do it on purpose?" Teresa looked at him, disbelief in her voice.

He was just a toddler. If it was intentional, why would she do it?

"Hopefully not," Gabriel responded, taking her hand gently, "Let's go. We can't do anything more here."

Teresa frowned and took one more glance at the still shouting Unity.

She couldn't understand why Unity was screaming at them instead of being with Russell.

"Yeah, let's go."

Perhaps Unity had her way. With that thought, Teresa nodded, and she looked away from the window.
