Chapter 432 William and Hayden (33)
Reaching Hayden's room, William looked inside.
The room was clean and tidy, with only a few books missing from the desk. The rest of the room was undisturbed.
Quickly, he moved on to the bathroom.
He opened the door and found it empty.
The balcony was also deserted.
"William, are you looking for Hayden?" Michelle managed to keep her emotions in check. She looked at William with a gentle expression. "Hayden did come back for a bit, but then she left with someone after grabbing a few things."
"Who is with?" William suddenly turned to look at Michelle and asked her for an answer.
"A tall, handsome Caucasian guy, I don't know him," Michelle fabricated the lie without batting an eye.
William frowned deeply at her response but said nothing more and just walked away.
Michelle couldn't help watching William leave; her eyes gradually reddened with emotion. But in a moment, she smirked coldly.
William, I won't give up. One day, you will be mine.
...
After exiting the dormitory building and getting into his car, William immediately pulled out his cell phone, found Jasper's number, and called him.
"What's up?" The phone connected quickly, and Jasper's languid voice came through.
"You sent me a photo of Hayden. Do you know where she went after leaving the coffee shop?" William asked, his brows furrowed in concern.
"Hey!" Jasper, who was playing pool with some friends, laughed at William's question. "William, are you the one dating Miss, or am I? Why are you asking me where someone is?"
"Cut the crap. Do you know or not?" William was impatient and had lost all tolerance for evasion.
"Don't know," Jasper replied bluntly, then nagged, "I told you before, you two aren't a good match; Hayden is not easy to..."
He didn't finish saying "easy to deal with" when he heard the "beep beep beep" from his phone, signaling that William had hung up.
"Damn! The annoying thing," Jasper muttered with a laugh, put away his phone, and continued to play pool.
On the other end, William had hung up on Jasper and dialed Hayden's number after a moment's hesitation.
The phone rang for a long time with no answer until it went to voicemail.
Staring at the phone for a few seconds, William dialed again.
"Sorry, Hayden's in the shower and can't answer your call right now." This time, the phone was answered just after a couple of rings.
But it wasn't Hayden on the line; it was a man speaking with a genuine accent.
—Hayden was freshening up.
When Michelle mentioned Hayden leaving with a tall, handsome Caucasian man, William's dark eyes instantly grew stern, and his handsome brows tensed.
"I got it, thanks," William said politely, and after that, he hung up the phone.
On the other end of the phone, Hayden had just finished her workout inside the villa. Dressed in a robe, she emerged from the bedroom, intent on finding her cell phone. She discovered that Cassius was already on the second floor in the small living room, wrapping up a call on her phone.
"Hayden, a man named William called for you," Cassius said immediately as he handed over the phone respectfully upon seeing her approach.
—William.
Hayden's brow furrowed slightly as she took the phone. "What did he say?"
"He didn't say anything."
"What did you tell him?" Hayden pressed on.
"I told him you were showering and couldn't answer the phone."
A man had answered her phone and then mentioned she was showering.
Could that lead to some unwanted speculation?
But, then again, what did it matter? Whether William misunderstood or not, was it really of any consequence?
After a moment of silence, Hayden looked at Cassius and gave a faint smile. "I got it. You all can rest. Good night."
"Alright, good night."
Once Cassius descended the stairs, Hayden turned to go back to her room and flicked on her phone's call log at the same time.
The two calls from William made her pause mid-step.
She raised her hand, initially intending to block William's number.
But after a second thought, considering he was now her boss, she reluctantly abandoned the idea.
At the very least, she knew she should separate her professional and private lives.
She closed her eyes, took a deep breath, exhaled, and then continued striding back to her bedroom.
...
There was a major class scheduled for the morning the next day.
Hayden liked to be punctual, usually arriving just a minute or two early for class.
As she entered the classroom, she habitually looked toward the back and, to her surprise, spotted William sitting there.
Hayden was momentarily taken aback.
This was a core class for their grade, not an elective, and apart from their peers, no other grade levels were represented.
