Chapter 607 Love to the Humble
"Your fiancée still thinks about me in the middle of the night. It must be hard for her. Please thank her for me," Hayden mocked with a laugh, then continued, "However, if she just wants to show off your sweet relationship in front of me, there's no need. After all, I'm getting married soon too."
"Indeed, there's no need." On the other end of the line, William let out a cold laugh. "I heard you're marrying Jasper. Congratulations. I'll definitely attend your wedding to offer my best wishes."
Hayden scoffed, "Thank you."
William replied, "It's only proper."
Hayden said sarcastically, "Jasper is your good friend. With him taking care of Chloe and Logan for you, you can finally be at ease! Oh, by the way, I will definitely not let Chloe and Logan know in the future that besides Jasper, they also have a biological father."
"Suit yourself." William's voice remained calm extremely, he coldly adding, "If there's nothing else, I'll hang up."
"Nothing else. Goodbye, William." Maintaining her last bit of elegance, Hayden also tried to remain calm.
"Goodbye." As William's final words fell, Hayden could no longer restrain herself and immediately hung up the phone.
Holding the phone, Hayden was so angry that her temples were almost throbbing.
She thought, 'William, you are truly ruthless, so ruthless!'
Melissa, standing by, looked at Hayden, who was trembling with anger, and said sympathetically, "Hayden, you really don't need to be so upset. William definitely has feelings for you."
"When you had your second major uterine hemorrhage and were rushed into surgery, William came quickly. That night, he waited outside your room for a long time and only left after one in the morning."
"Really?" Hayden, who was originally very angry, was pleasantly surprised and looked at Melissa with excitement.
"Yes." Melissa nodded affirmatively and continued, "That day outside the operating room, William saw Jocelyn and took her to a safe passage to scold her. They seemed to have had a dispute. Later, William returned to the outside of the operating room, told Isabella not to tell you he had been there, and then left."
"William had an dispute with Jocelyn?" Hayden was both surprised and puzzled, asking, "Why did they have a dispute? Do you know?"
In her impression, Jocelyn and William had never met, so how could they have a dispute? Was it because William found out that Jocelyn had confined Gabriel, forcing him to divorce Teresa and marry Jocelyn?
But based on her understanding of William, he shouldn't have a dispute with Jocelyn over this matter.
Because there was no need for a dispute at all. The fault lay entirely with Jocelyn. If he wanted to stand up for Teresa, he could have just taken action directly.
Melissa shook her head. "But I vaguely heard Jocelyn say William wasn't worthy of you. I also heard Jocelyn say you are her biological sister who always loved her the most and would believe her over William. Lastly, Jocelyn mentioned William's sister, Teresa." Melissa recounted everything she had heard without holding back.
Hayden's eyebrows furrowed tighter as she listened.
It seemed that the dispute between William and Jocelyn was not about Gabriel being confined.
Otherwise, they wouldn't have mentioned Teresa only at the end, after Jocelyn had said those things.
William clearly cared about her, but he refused to forgive her and accept her again. He insisted on being with Michelle. What was the reason behind all this?
Was it just because Michelle saved him from a knife, and William promised Maxwell not to be with her again?
No, Hayden suddenly became certain that it was definitely more than that.
But the reasons behind his unwillingness to be with her again, if William didn't say, no one could figure it out.
Thinking of this, Hayden immediately called William again.
Just like before, the phone rang three times before being answered.
However, this time, William didn't speak.
"William, you wanted to see Chloe and Logan, right? I'm taking them back to the Imperial Capital in a few days. Don't you want to see them again?" Since she couldn't hear William's voice, Hayden took the initiative to speak, feeling a sense of helplessness and a strange urge to cry. "Maybe in the future, even if you want to see them, you may not be able to."
"Okay, I understand." William's voice came through, but after those simple words, there was no more sound.
Holding the phone, Hayden listened to his deep voice, felt the frequency of his breathing, and tears suddenly couldn't help but fall from her eyes.
The next moment, she directly hung up the phone.
Hayden had always underestimated her feelings for William.
She realized that she truly loved him, loved him to her core, loved him so much that she could humble herself to the ground, yet William never knew.
