Chapter 118 Advancing Step by Step
Inside the abandoned factory in the West district suburb, William leisurely sat on a chair, eating an apple at a steady pace, calmly waiting for Jovan and Nina to arrive. Sharon was standing beside him. For safety reasons, William also called Sharon to come along.
Around the factory, Louis's people were already in place. As soon as they appeared, they could be taken down immediately, and then Antony could be notified to take action.
"Mr. Brown, they are almost here." Louis received Jovan's message and immediately came to report to William.
"Alright, I'll lay low for now. You go outside and lead them in. Make sure they don't suspect anything. Once you bring them into this abandoned factory, there won't be much to worry about," William said cautiously.
As he spoke, he stood up and temporarily hid in an unnoticed corner to avoid raising Jovan and Nina's suspicions. Sharon also found a hiding place.
Soon, a white Porsche parked steadily in front of the abandoned factory, and two people stepped out, dressed in luxury attire. It was Jovan and Nina.
Upon seeing them, Louis quickly approached with an eager facade. "William is inside, I've tied him up. Let me take you in."
"Good, Lo. You did well. After this is done, I'll add another million dollars to your reward." Jovan was excited and satisfied with what Louis had done. He had finally caught William.
"When he falls into my hands, you'll see how I deal with him later." A cold glint flashed in Jovan's eyes. He was going to punish him for all the humiliation he had suffered before.
The group entered the abandoned factory while discussing. Nina looked around and didn't find William. She frowned and asked, "Where is William?"
"He'll be here in a moment!" Louis suddenly changed his expression and clapped his hands, and numerous subordinates emerged from various corners of the factory. They promptly closed the factory's big doors.
With a loud bang, the heavy iron doors closed shut. Both Nina and Jovan's expressions changed, sensing that something was wrong. However, they forced themselves to remain calm and demanded, "Lo, what is the meaning of this? Let me ask you again, where is William?"
As Jovan questioned, William walked out with Sharon from a corner.
"I'm right here! Were you looking for me? It's been a while," William greeted with a slight smile on his lips.
"William? Weren't you supposed to be tied up? Why are you standing here?" Jovan looked incredulous, then turned his questioning gaze to Louis. "Louis! Didn't you say William was tied up? Is it possible that this poor man has paid you off?"
"Nonsense! Would I need to be bought by Mr. Brown? I am Mr. Brown's man myself. It's you who walked right into the trap," Louis angrily retorted.
"Well, well, Louis. You took my money but sold yourself to someone else! I'll kill you!" Jovan was seething with anger, taking a small knife out of his pocket. It was originally meant to humiliate William, but now he found himself using it here.
However, as soon as he pulled out the knife, Nina grabbed him forcefully.
"Don't invite trouble upon yourself. There are too many of them, and you won't win. Stay quiet!" Despite the dire situation, Nina remained unusually calm.
"William, after going to such great lengths to deceive me and bring me here, I believe you have something to say." Nina looked at William, her gaze fixed on him.
Seeing that Nina was not panicking but rather posing a composed response, William was taken aback. This woman was indeed extraordinary, far superior to that foolish Jovan.
"Of course, I have something important to discuss with you. It concerns the future of the Ashford family and your own future, but I want to talk to you privately."
The more formidable she appeared, the more William wanted to gain control over her. However, before that, William had Sharon confiscate Jovan and Nina's phones to prevent them from informing George.
Initially, Jovan wanted to resist, but after seeing Sharon, he could only obediently hand over his phone to avoid physical pain.
On the other hand, Nina seemed to understand the current situation. She not only handed over her phone willingly but also casually said to William, "Sure! I'm interested in having a chat with you." After speaking, Nina readily followed William into a relatively secluded corner.
At the same time, Antony at the Power Group received a message from William.
"Nina has been led away. It's time to take action!" Antony's spirits lifted upon seeing this. "Mr. Brown is showing qualities reminiscent of our former chairman! He managed to quickly lead the flagship figure of the Ashford family away."
Prior to this, William had already explained the overall plan to Antony, so all Antony had to do was lure George out, detain him, and then send others to secretly acquire shares from other shareholders of the Ashford Group. This would compel them to convene a board meeting for a new chairman election.
Once the chairman was replaced, it would signify a change in ownership of the Ashford Group.
"Now it's my turn to shine!" Antony muttered to himself and immediately dialed George's phone number.
Soon, George answered, but his confidence visibly wavered when facing Antony, a prominent figure in New York. Nevertheless, he held his ground, knowing that he currently held the upper hand.
"Boss Jones, have you seen the photos I sent you? If you want William to remain unharmed, I strongly advise you to return the three assets you took from me."
Antony threatened, "I've seen the photos, you know what you're doing is illegal, right? If I report you to the police, you won't be able to run."
"I only sent you a photo, I didn't say I kidnapped William! I just wanted to remind you something. If you report it to the police, it's highly likely that the deal will be ruined," George replied, slightly intimidated by Antony's threat but still held his ground.
"Fine, tear up the deal if you want! After all, William is just an ordinary employee under me. I will report you to the police," Antony replied, pretending not to care.
If William hadn't informed him in advance, Antony would have been in a panic after seeing the photo of William being kidnapped, instead of calmly dealing with George as he was now.
However, George felt perplexed by Antony's calm demeanor. It didn't make sense! Judging from Antony's shocked and concerned reaction when he saw the fake video of William getting into an accident a few days ago, he certainly cared about William. But now, he seemed indifferent, which left George puzzled.
"Think it through, he is still William. If you..." George was interrupted as Antony hung up the phone directly, as if he truly didn't care about William's life or death. This left George feeling both angry and uncertain about how to proceed.
"What does Antony mean? Does he really not care about William's life?" George started to doubt himself.
He immediately called Nina, wanting to seek his sister's opinion, but the phone indicated that it was switched off.
"At this crucial moment, why is Nina's phone off?" George became anxious, sweating profusely as he paced back and forth in the meeting room. Finally, he couldn't resist calling Antony again.
Antony deliberately left him waiting for a while before answering the call. "Hello, Mr. Ashford, do you have something else to discuss?"
"I wanted to discuss the matter of the three assets with you." George's tone was noticeably softer now, lacking the previous assertiveness.
"Why threaten me with kidnapping and tearing up the deal? Meet me at the 302 VIP lounge in Munro's bar. You have only one hour! If you come, we can talk about everything, if not, there's nothing to discuss." After saying this, Antony immediately hung up the phone.
When George tried to speak again, he heard a busy tone on the other end of the line.
"Should we go out to negotiate?" George was now completely lost. Nina had reminded him that business matters should be discussed within the Ashford Group and not outside, but he didn't understand why.
Nina didn't tell him about it.
"What should I do?" George paced back and forth in the meeting room anxiously. He made several calls to Nina, but they all showed that her phone was turned off. He then thought about calling his son, but his phone was turned off too. This made George feel uneasy.
"What if something happened to them?" George looked at the time. If he didn't go to the appointment soon, he would lose the one-hour negotiation time that Boss Jones gave him.
"Forget it, I'll go and negotiate the three assets first." After much consideration, George could only think of retrieving the three assets. After all, they were worth 3 billion dollars, and it was hard for him to accept losing them.
George quickly left the Ashford Group and drove to Munro's Bar!
Everything was going according to William's plan.
In a secluded corner of the abandoned factory, William was casually chatting with Nina. It was just a way to pass the time, waiting for Antony's actions. "Miss Ashford, how old are you this year? Do you have a boyfriend?"
Nina was annoyed by William's pointless topics but still responded patiently, "I'm 33, and I don't have a boyfriend yet!"
"33 already! That's quite old," William jokingly remarked.
"You, William, what do you mean? Did you call me here alone just to humiliate me?" Nina couldn't bear it anymore and was filled with resentment.
William smiled without replying. Just then, he received a message from Antony: "George has been detained. The acquisition of shares from other shareholders of the Ashford Group has been completed, and preparations are being made for a shareholders' meeting to elect a new chairman."
Upon seeing this message, William's lips curved into a small smile. Then he said to Nina, "Now we can start discussing the formal matters."
