Chapter 16 Is He Going to Be Counterattacked?
Daniel didn't think that William would be so arrogant as to raise the dinner cost from $500 to $1000 per person. With thirty people in total, that was a sudden expenditure of $30,000, but William didn't even bat an eyelid. This was truly beyond Daniel's expectations.
He thought that this would hurt William at least a little, but it seemed that $30,000 meant nothing to him. It was as if it was just three blades of grass.
However, William had said that Daniel was not included among the thirty people, embarrassing him in front of everyone. But for Daniel, the $1000 for this dinner was nothing, so he immediately said to William, "I’ll cover my own expenses, no need to worry."
When William saw him agree to pay for himself, he changed his tune and smirked, saying, "Sorry, I've changed my mind. Why should an outsider like you join our class reunion? Please leave!"
The whole room was in an uproar. William had told the heir of the Good Group to leave, openly humiliating him.
Sure enough, Daniel became furious when he heard that. "Madison invited me here, William. You're going too far."
P
Daniel never expected that William would want to kick him out. It was a great humiliation for him.
"I don't care about that. Everyone here should vote. If more than half of them want you to stay, I'll accept it," William said with a slight smile.
"You're going too far, William. I invited Daniel here. Aren't you afraid of offending the Good Group?" Madison couldn't stand it any longer and stepped forward, hurling accusations at him with a hint of threat in her tone.
The other classmates didn’t dare say a word. If they offended Daniel, the retaliation from that rich man would be terrifying. They just chose to watch.
"That little Good Group is nothing to me," William smirked, not giving Daniel any respect.
"If that's the case, don't blame me for not showing mercy," Daniel's mouth curled into a cold smile. William's actions were extreme, so he wouldn't hold back either. He turned around and shouted, "Everyone, I need to tell you the truth right now."
"What truth?" The classmates at the scene looked at Daniel curiously.
"It's about William." Daniel smirked coldly. He had overheard every word of the conversation between William and Liam. He had originally wanted to let William act arrogantly for a while before exposing him, but now it seemed that he couldn't let him be too full of himself anymore.
"About William? What happened to him?" Many classmates became curious. William, on the other hand, remained calm. He really wasn't afraid of a little heir of a second-rate group. Daniel was no threat to him.
"Actually, William is a poor man. That Ferrari he drove here today was borrowed or rented, and he lost his job a long time ago. He couldn’t even afford to pay his rent. The reason he dared to generously offer to pay for this gathering is because he won $500,000 in the lottery. But that fool has already spent $300,000, so he’s a complete pauper now. He was just trying to show off in front of everyone."
After Daniel finished speaking, a smug smile appeared at the corner of his mouth, and a sense of satisfaction surged in his heart.
The classmates at the scene were instantly in an uproar. The borrowed Ferrari made them instantly suspicious of William.
"No job is no job, but it's not good to show off by borrowing a Ferrari. What kind of attitude is that?"
"So the Ferrari was borrowed, and he's still showing off!"
Richard saw the situation instantly backfire on William, and was instantly thrilled in his heart, quickly stepping forward to speak.
"William, if you don't have money, you shouldn’t borrow other people's Ferraris. We're all classmates here. Isn't it better to be genuine? We won't look down on you."
"Yeah, it's okay if things aren't going well, but you shouldn’t show off in front of your classmates like that.”
The classmates' gazes were no longer filled with admiration, but instead, they chose to avoid William, revealing their ugly sides.
Madison couldn't help but feel delighted when she saw this. So, William had just won the lottery, which explained his previous arrogant behavior. It was all just a show he paid other people to act in.
"You really are a poor man, William. You've been exposed in front of everyone now. Let's see how you continue pretending to be rich."
When Liam saw this, he became anxious. He knew that William had rented his Ferrari, but now it was exposed, and he couldn't bear the ridicule from the other classmates.
"We're all classmates. Is this how you behave?"
"Who do you think you are, Liam? Get out of here!" Richard yelled loudly.
"Say that again, and I'll beat you to death." Liam's face turned red with anger. He rolled up his sleeves, preparing to fight, and instantly scared the other classmates, who stepped back. Liam was known for his strength. Who would dare fight him?
William stopped Liam with an outstretched hand. He remained calm and composed, with a slight smile on his lips.
"If you want to know whether the Ferrari was borrowed or rented, you just need to call the dealership and ask. Do you really have to keep guessing? There’s only one luxury car dealership in New York. Other people may not know it, but Daniel must know the phone number of that luxury car dealership, right?"
"You're being very persistent. Fine, I'll make you give up today."
Daniel, who was from a wealthy family, naturally knew the phone number of that luxury car dealership. He often went there to browse.
He immediately took out his phone and dialed the number. He wanted to show everyone the truth, so he put it on speakerphone, and someone quickly picked up.
