Chapter 199 Risky Rescue
The route from the company to Antony's residence passed by buildings slated for demolition, and the residents had long been relocated. There weren't many people here anymore, making it the perfect place to ambush Antony.
As the night fell,
Antony sat in the car, resting his eyes. The day had been exhausting for him, dealing with the matters of the WE ARE Chamber and the Power Group. He had drained his phone's battery just by making calls, and now it had automatically shut down.
Driver and bodyguard, Juan, focused his gaze as he drove. Suddenly, a couple of people appeared on the road ahead, blocking their path. Juan, with years of experience as a professional bodyguard, immediately sensed that something was off about these individuals.
Just as he was about to accelerate and break through, the two or three people began throwing numerous eggs at their car. The eggs rained down like droplets, hitting the front windshield and causing egg yolks to flow.
"Boss Jones, we're under attack," Juan promptly informed Antony, though he remained calm instead of showing any signs of panic. He firmly gripped the steering wheel, planning to drive straight through. He pressed the accelerator to the floor.
Although the car windows were covered in egg yolk, they could still vaguely see the road ahead. However, the two or three people directly in front of them proceeded to throw a large amount of flour at the car. Under the dancing flour, the egg yolk quickly mixed in and covered the front windshield, turning it completely white.
"Get someone," Antony frowned. He had encountered situations like this countless times before and reacted swiftly out of familiarity.
Juan immediately took out his phone and sent a message with their location to a WhatsApp group, adding a line: "Under attack, need immediate help."
The members of this group were Antony's former subordinates, powerful figures from both sides of New York's underworld. They were also people Antony deeply trusted, willing to risk their lives for him at his command.
"Boss Jones, the message has been sent. Vicente is the closest to us, but it will still take about fifteen minutes for him to arrive," Juan stopped the car and turned to Antony.
"Alright, let's see who dares to lay a finger on me in New York," Antony glanced out the car window. He saw a mass of people emerging from the demolished houses, closing in on them.
It was dark outside, and Antony couldn't make out their faces clearly. He could only see that there were a great number of people—around four to five hundred—surrounding them. The sheer size of the crowd made Antony slightly uneasy.
"Boss Jones, there are approximately five hundred people outside. We won't be able to hold on for long with just the two of us. Even if Vicente arrives in fifteen minutes, it's unlikely to make much difference," Juan took out a knife from under the car seat. He was ready to fight to the death tonight, prepared for the worst.
"Don't worry, drive towards them and hit them with the car. We'll hold out for as long as we can, maybe for an hour at most. By then, the reinforcements should have arrived!" Antony said, his brows furrowed.
"Alright," Juan tightened his grip on the steering wheel, prepared to use the car to crash into anyone who dared to approach them.
In a nearby dilapidated house, Rodrigo and Manuel stood at an elevated position.
Looking down from above, he gazed at Antony's vehicle being surrounded by his five- hundred-man strong security team, a smile playing at the corners of his mouth.
"Let's see how Antony plans to escape this time. His subordinates can't come to his rescue. It's impossible for them to reach here in half an hour, and half an hour is more than enough to deal with him."
"Dad, once we've taken care of Antony, both the Power Group and the WE ARE Chamber will be leaderless, and chaos will ensue. That's our opportunity." Manuel's eyes gleamed coldly. They were well-prepared for this ambush.
They not only knew Antony's route home in advance, but also had all the security guards dressed in identical black outfits to avoid exposing their identities.
"Yes, this time we'll capture Antony and William together. Any news from Dorian?" Rodrigo asked instinctively.
"Not yet, but he should already be on the move! That person, Ivan, by his side is formidable. Even with Baca, the Black Fist Fighter, protecting him, there's no escape for William." Manuel knew that the Black Fist Fighters listened to William, but he was unaware of the existence of even more powerful experts.
"Yes, that's for the best. After tonight, the situation in New York will be reversed!" Rodrigo's eyes narrowed as he surveyed Antony's car wildly slamming into the crowd. A smirk appeared on his face.
"They think this will delay their subordinates' arrival? How naïve!"
As Rodrigo predicted, Antony's car, driving recklessly, ran over a bed of caltrops laid by his subordinates. Instantly, all four tires were punctured, leaving the vehicle unable to continue its rampage.
"Boss Jones, the tires are blown. What do we do now?" Juan tightened his grip on his long knife.
"We kill enough to make it worthwhile; killing two means we profit." Antony also pulled out a knife from under his seat, ready to fight to the death.
From his position; Rodrigo couldn't help but smile as he saw Antony's car finally come to a stop.
"It's finally over. New York is ours in the end."
Manuel was also filled with excitement, seeing Antony's car immobilized and its windows shattered. They were just waiting for Antony to step out and meet his death!
Once Antony was out of the picture, the Watson family could seize the opportunity and rise to power!
However, at that moment, a Ferrari swiftly approached from nearby. To avoid drawing attention from those ahead, the car didn't have its headlights on. However, it was still noticed by Rodrigo and Manuel standing at a distance.
"Quick, intercept that car." Rodrigo hadn't expected Antony's first batch of rescue team to arrive so quickly, but fortunately, they only had one car, which could only fit a few people.
William tightly gripped the steering wheel.
Stepping on the gas pedal all the way, he had to be ruthless this time, or else he wouldn't break through the circle of five hundred people.
"Stop this car. Scatter the spikes," one of the security team leaders shouted loudly.
Immediately, subordinates began throwing out the remaining spikes. However, the quantity was too little. Most of the spikes they had prepared were used to set up Antony's car, so there weren't many horse nails left.
William tightened his grip on the steering wheel and sped into the crowd. People in front were scared and ran away, while those who couldn't escape in time were flung by William's Ferrari, creating a horrific and terrifying scene.
At the same; Antony and Juan were forced to get out of the car. If they didn't come out soon, the car would be overturned.
After Antony came out of the car, he attacked anyone he saw. Although he was getting old, he still possessed strength. Otherwise, he would never have risen to the position of the boss in his younger years.
As a bodyguard, Juan's skills were impressive as well. He protected Antony and attacked anyone who came close. The security guards in black were no pushovers either. They swung iron rods at them.
In just a short while, both Antony and Juan sustained numerous injuries, with bloodstains evident on their bodies. The two leaned against each other back-to-back, facing the increasing number of black-clothed people, panting heavily.
"Am I going to die here today?" Antony felt a sense of melancholy. But ever since he entered the underworld, he knew that this day would come sooner or later. What goes around comes around.
"Boss Jones, I'm sorry. I failed to protect you," Juan said, covered in wounds, with a broken hand. However, he still protected Antony at all costs, displaying his loyalty.
"Just let it be if we die. No need to blame yourself," Antony planned to fight to the death and kill a few more before going down. Suddenly, a luxury car appeared, breaking through the human barricade with its high beams shining brightly.
"This is Sir's car." Antony naturally recognized William's Ferrari. He never imagined that Sir's car would appear here at this moment.
But what shocked him even more was that William was carrying someone and leading the way out of the car. Following behind him were Hunter, Sharon, and Aurora, picking up an iron rod from the ground as they came out, ready to fight at any moment.
"Antony, how careless of you to fall into someone's ambush!" William walked towards him with a faint smile, completely disregarding the hundreds of black-clothed people around him.
"Sir." Antony couldn't believe it. Sir actually risked his life to save him. But then he shouted loudly, "Sir, go quickly, it's dangerous here!"
"If I feared death, I wouldn't have come here." William, with a cold gaze, carried the unconscious Dorian and stood on top of Antony's car, then shouted loudly at the crowded mass below.
"Dorian is in my hands. If any of you dare to come up, I'll kill him."
William knew that these people were all members of the Watson family, and they had always respected Dorian. So, he wanted to use Dorian as a threat against Rodrigo.
Still standing on top of the nearby house; Rodrigo and Manuel were both shocked when they heard this because they recognized who the person was.
"Why is William here? And he's suppressed Dorian. How powerful is William? He's even stronger than Dorian!" Rodrigo and his son felt trapped for a moment. They had to make a decision quickly, as delaying would only work against them.
