Chapter 374 Test

William came out from the Hughes Group and then called for a car straight to the headquarters of his family group.

If he wanted to bring down the Campbell family, he had to have the help of their own people. Otherwise, it would be a bit difficult to do it alone.

The Brown family's industries were all managed by a group called BN Group.

Half an hour later, the cab steadily stopped at the entrance of BN Group. After William got out of the car, the first thing he did was to take a look at the high-rise building in front of him.

"It seems like it has sixty or seventy floors. It's even more impressive than the Hughes Group's headquarters." William secretly sighed in his heart and walked inside.

The two security guards at the entrance stopped William. They noticed he didn't have an ID badge and was dressed casually, so they approached him and asked loudly, "What the hell are you doing?"

"I was invited by your chairman. Please inform him that a person named William Brown is here to see him." William made up an excuse, believing that his parents had already arranged everything before he arrived.

"William Brown? Wait here, I'll inform him." The security guard glanced at William and then turned to make a phone call for inquiry.

He couldn't afford to offend someone who was invited by the chairman.

Soon after the guard made the phone call, he came back, running with deference.

"Mr. Brown, the chairman asked me to bring you to VIP Room 3 on the first floor. He will come to greet you soon." The security guard's tone became respectful, and he even bowed, clearly following the chairman's instructions.

"Okay." William nodded, not minding it.

Following the guard to VIP Room 3, William realized that there were already two people waiting inside.

A man and a woman sat facing each other across the table, both wearing solemn expressions, seemingly sitting upright with great caution.

The man appeared to be in his thirties, wearing gold-rimmed glasses and a well-tailored black suit. He had a refined and cultured look.

The woman was stunningly beautiful, no older than thirty, and dressed in a black professional suit.

They each had a document in front of them, indicating that they were here for a meeting.

After sitting down on the chair, William glanced at them briefly and then no longer paid any attention. His relaxed demeanor contrasted sharply with their solemn expressions.

At the same time, the man with the gold-rimmed glasses on the other side assessed William with a hint of disdain in his eyes.

"Is he here for the chairman's assistant position? This poor guy! How can he be so confident?"

Although this remark was said softly, William caught every word. Instantly, he understood why the man and woman were here! They were here for an interview for the position of the chairman's assistant.

However, William didn't want to stoop to their level. He pretended not to hear and leisurely poured himself a glass of water to drink.

The woman in the meeting room glanced at William from the corner of her eye, furrowing her brows slightly, but she didn't say anything and remained seated.

Time passed, and the chairman still hadn't appeared, which made William feel something was off.

"Why hasn't the chairman come to meet me yet?" William mumbled to himself.

The man with the gold-rimmed glasses on the opposite side heard this and shook his head mockingly.

"Who do you think you are?"

"I advise you to speak less, or you will regret it," William frowned and warned him calmly.

"I will regret it? Where did you graduate from? What degrees do you have?" The man with gold-rimmed glasses arrogantly pointed at William and shouted.

At this moment, he regarded William as a potential competitor.

"I warn you once again. Don't try to provoke me, or I will kick you out of here," William warned him again. Although hiring the assistant to the chairman was a company matter, if this man was arrogant, no matter how talented he was, William would not let the company employ such a person.

"You have no qualifications to speak to me. Poor people like you are not worthy of applying for the position of chairman's assistant. I advise you to leave immediately!" The man with gold-rimmed glasses continued to mock, trying to humiliate William so that he would automatically leave the room, thereby reducing one competitor.

William furrowed his brows, feeling displeased.

Coincidentally, at this moment, the receptionist came in and brought William a bottle of 1982 Lafite Rothschild.

"Mr. Brown, Mr. Baker is still in an emergency meeting and can't spare his time right now. So he asked me to bring you a bottle of Lafite and help you interview these two applicants."

"You want me to interview them?!" Not only was William stunned, but even the man with gold-rimmed glasses and the woman sitting upright were filled with shock.

"Yes, that's what Mr. Baker meant. He said whoever you choose, he will select as the chairman's assistant," the receptionist confirmed once again.

"Alright, I got it. You can go on with your work. Leave this to me!" After dismissing the receptionist, William locked his gaze on the man with gold-rimmed glasses, who was already sweating profusely.

He had looked down on him, but in the blink of an eye, he had become the interviewer who would decide his fate, causing him to break out in a cold sweat.

"Sir, I'm really sorry for what happened earlier. It was all a misunderstanding. I thought you were also here to apply. I apologize to you. Please don't take it to heart." The man with gold-rimmed glasses wiped the sweat off his forehead and immediately became respectful, completely different from his previous arrogant attitude when he mocked William.

"You can't judge a book by its cover. Now you can leave," William eliminated him directly.

This was not an act of retaliation for what he said earlier. William had already finished interviewing him and found that his character was problematic. Even if he had talent, William wouldn't hire him.

"What do you mean? Are you avenging a personal grudge? Just because I said a few words, you want me to leave? Who do you think you are? I want to see Mr. Baker. I'm proficient in eight foreign languages, and I'm a Wall Street senior financial advisor. You, a poor person, what qualifications do you have to interview me and tell me to leave?"

At this moment, the man with the golden-rimmed glasses was becoming a bit frantic. He highly valued this position at the BN Group. He had gone through several rounds of interviews to make it to the last round, only to be driven away by this poor person with just a few words. He couldn't accept this outcome.

"Do you still not understand? From the moment I entered this room, the interview had already begun. Your character has greatly disappointed me. If you don't leave now, I won't be polite anymore." William understood everything now.

It seemed that the chairman of the BN Group had intentionally made him wait in VIP Room 3, and by not appearing to see him, he probably wanted him to interact more with the two candidates or test his ability to judge people and hire them.

"How is that possible?" Hearing this, the man with the golden-rimmed glasses thought of the chairman who hadn't shown up. He seemed to have realized something. Suddenly, he became dazed and then left the meeting room.

William turned his gaze to the woman and quickly took on the role of the interviewer.

"Tell me about your background!"
