Chapter 53 This Isn't Going the Right Way
"Master Earle's arrival brought the personal collection exhibition to its climax. It was's worth noting that not just anyone could invite Earle is not someone that just anyone can invite;anywhere. Iit had taken took Munro a great deal of effort to bring him over this time.
In addition to seeking his help in authenticating the oil paintings, there were also a few antiques in the exhibition hall that required Earle's expertise.
""Master Earle has arrived. Let's go and take a looklook, William!"" Michelle couldn't help but be curious and wanted to see what the appearance of New York's top antique appraiser was looked like.
""Let's go see it later, there are too many people now, and we might get pushed around,"" William replied.
William wasn't particularly interested in meeting Earl, after all; he could call for him anytime he wanted to meet. Furthermore, ; there were too many people surrounding Earle right now, and William was afraid of getting squeezed and hurting Michelle.
""Then let's stand outside!"" Michelle grabbed William's arm, afraid of getting lost in the crowd.
As they stood Standing on the outskirts, William stood on tiptoe and finally saw Earle walking in surrounded by peoplethe crowd. Earle wore a long blue robe, his hair graying, his eyes bright and lively.
""Master Earle, you've arrived."" Munro warmly welcomed him warmly, tightly grasping his hand inwith excitement.
""How couldI couldn’t I refuse the Professor's invitation, especially when I heard that you hadve many antiques that would broaden my horizons!"" Earle had comecame because he was interested in Munro's collection. He had worked in this industry his whole life and just wanted to touch a few more antiques before he died!
""Yes, there areI have many little treasures, but there are also two famous paintings by Van Gogh that I need your help toin authenticate.ing."" Munro led Earle inside while speaking.
Many people followed and crowded in beside them.
""There are two Van Gogh paintings here too?"" Earle was pleasantly surprised. He didn't hadn’t expected to come across such masterpieces. After a brief pause, he continued to inquire, ""Which famous works by Van Gogh are they?""
""Wheatfield with Crows."" Munro answered truthfully.
""Wheatfield with Crows?"" Earle involuntarily stopped in his tracks. He had seen the authentic version of thatis painting at William Brown's place a few days ago. Could it be that someone haved sold a fake to Munro?
With thatis thought in mind, Earle subconsciously glanced around the crowd and happened to spot William, who was standing on tiptoe to get a glimpse of him. He was taken aback as he, realizeding that Mr. Brown was here!
Earle originally wanted to push through the crowd and greet William, but William waved him off, signaling him not to come over and pretending not to recognize him.
Earle seemed to understand Mr. Brown's intentions. He wanted to be discreet. So, he continued to follow Munro. As he walked, he couldn't help but be curious about the other high-quality imitation that could rival the genuine artwork.
""ProfessorS, should we authenticate the oil paintings first or the other antiques, Professor?"" If Earle hadn't seen the genuine Van Gogh painting at William's place before, he wouldn't have been so indifferent. He would definitely have suggested authenticating the oil paintings first instead of giving the professor the choice.
Upon hearing this,When Krister, who had been following alongside them, heard that, Krister, who had been following alongsidehe, immediately became excited and wanted the professor to choose to authenticate the oil paintings immediately. However, the professor seemed to be in no hurry.
""Let's authenticate the other little treasures first! Leave We’ll leave the oil paintings for the grand finale, to create some suspense!"" The professor said with a smile.
""Alright, then let's authenticate the other antiques first!"" Earle didn't mind either way.
The two men went to other parts of the exhibition hall as they continued conversing. Many antique enthusiasts followed suit, wanting to witness the skills of New York's top antique appraiser. Meanwhile, William wasn’t really interested in or enthusiastic about lacked interest and enthusiasm for antiques.
""WilliamL, let's continue exploring, William. We haven't finished over there yet,"" Michelle said with excitedlyment. SAlthough she wasn't particularly interested in antiques, but she simply wanted to be with William, no matter what they did.
""Sure, let's go and see if there's anything interesting over there!"" William nodded. He wasn't in a hurry to appraise the oil paintings.
Krister was probably the most anxious person on sitethere.
“I can’t believe ""To think there are more appraisals to be done. Fine, I’ will let you enjoy this moment for now, relish temporary joy,"" Krister muttered with grudgingly a grudge as he watched William and Michelle's intimate figures.
""Master, can you help me identify the age of this sword?"" Munro picked up a sword that had a rustic appearance ye butt looked exquisitely beautiful. He suspected it was a sword that had wornbeen worn by some ancient king.
This It was the same sword that Tim wanted that but Master had refused ton't give ton him.
""Let me take a look."" Suddenly, Master Earle became interested in theis sword too. He took a magnifying glass out of his pocket and carefully examined it.
The crowd quieted down, not daring to disturb Master Earle with any noise.
Earle's expertise in appraisal was exceptional. TEven the magnification of the magnifying glass he held could be adjusted its magnification, and had been specially customized at an exorbitant price that most antique enthusiasts couldn't afford.
Leveraging the magnifying glass, Earle studied the sword for about half an hour before finally putting it away, shaking his head with a hint of regret.
""This sword is indeed from ancient Europe, but it's a high-quality imitation of Charles V's sword. Nevertheless, it can will still fetch around a hundred thousand dollars on the market."" Earle provided the most reasonable appraisal result, explaining the details of the sword's imitation. Immediately, the onlookers had a moment ofwere enlightenedment.
""I see now. After listening to Master Earle's words, everything makes sense."" Munro was in a good mood after unraveling the mystery of the sword. He then invited Master Earle to appraise some other antiques.
Krister was becoming increasingly impatient as he followed behind them. After an hour, he decided to give up and directly camewent to the two central oil paintings in the exhibition hall, guarding them.
After circling the exhibition hall, William and Michelle also arrived at the two central paintings. At this point, many people had finished exploring the other antiques and gathered around the two paintings.
Seeing As they saw the almost identical paintings, they couldn't help but whisper among themselves.
""Are thoese Van Gogh's paintings? They look exactly the same!""
""Yes, the skill level of the artists who create high-quality replicas is truly remarkable, making them virtually indistinguishable from the originals.""
""The level of detail is handled extremely similarly., I guess only Master Earle is the only person in New York who in New York can distinguish between the real and fake ones.""
""I'm really looking forward to it!""
Gradually, more and more people gathered in the center of the exhibition hall, and even the Wilson family members gathered here.
""Why ihasn't Master Earle come here yet? I'm getting impatient waiting,"" Lauren said anxiously. She also wanted to see which of the two paintings was real too.
Of course, the other members of the Wilson family had similar thoughts, but they mostly believed that the painting Krister had bought for $38 million was real, and the one fromby William from the impoverished area was fake.
After waiting for over an hour, just when everyone was becoming impatient, Master Earle and Munro finally walked towards the two paintings in the center of the exhibition hall. Krister immediately became excited., Ffinally, he had arrived.
""Master, these are the two oil paintings I told you about. They are look exactly the samethe same. Please see tell us which one is real.,"" Munro pointed at the two paintings hanging on the wooden frame.
""Well, let me take a look!"" Master Earle said as he took out the magnifying glass from his pocket and , as well as a pen that could adjust shine various beams of light from his pocket. Thoese were professional appraisal tools that an ordinary person wouldn't understand.
After taking out his the professional tools, Master Earle slowly walked up to the paintings , and everyone else quieted down, even holding their breath as they were afraidh, fearing to disturb Master's his judgement.
Krister's heart couldn't help but beat faster. The result he wanted was about to come outbe revealed. The thought of William's infamous downfall filled him with excitement.
William, on the other hand, remained calm."
