Chapter 226 Can't Go
William had his own plan when he took Yohan away. To prevent him from escaping, William knocked him out and placed him in the jujitsu gym where Hunter and Sharon were, so there was no worry about him running away.
After doing all this, William sent Kayla and Fiona back to Ring Villa.
Early the next morning, William was practicing boxing in the villa's yard when Kayla, wearing a tank top, hurriedly ran down holding her phone.
"William, the bar owner from last night is looking for you. He said Yohan's agent wants to talk to you." She handed her phone to William.
Taking Kayla's phone, he answered, "What's the matter?"
"Release Yohan to me right away, or the Graham family's people will come and kill you."
Yohan's agent, named Roger, was considered one of the prominent figures in Graham Entertainment.
Renowned agent, who had high hopes for the new singer Yohan whom he had been cultivating, was preparing to develop his singing and acting career in parallel.
So when he learned that Yohan had been abducted, he immediately contacted William to retrieve him.
"You can have the person, but only if someone from the Graham family personally intervenes. Otherwise, it's a no," William said before hanging up.
In reality, abducting Yohan was merely a means to make contact with someone from the Graham family. William, a third-rate singer, was of no interest to him!
Meanwhile, inside the Floral bar, Roger couldn't believe his ears when he heard that William wanted someone from the Graham family to personally retrieve Yohan. He nearly threw his phone in frustration.
"What the hell? Does he really expect someone from the Graham family to take care of it personally? They don't have time for a third-rate singer like him." Roger was furious, but Yohan, whom he considered the most promising among his subordinates, was too precious to abandon without a fight. He immediately turned to Eduardo, the bar owner.
"Do you know where Kayla lives?" Roger planned to find Yohan himself. However, Eduardo's response left him feeling hopeless.
"Kayla is the chairman of the Garcia Group, and behind her stands the Power Group. If you try to mess with the Power Group's people in New York, you're asking for trouble." Eduardo warned seriously.
Even someone like him, who had worked his way up from the streets, dared not offend Kayla. Roger, an outsider, really had the audacity to challenge her.
"The Power Group is that powerful in New York?" Roger had come from Kitchener, so he wasn't familiar with the situation in New York.
"No doubt about it. The Power Group directly or indirectly controls over 70% of the market share in New York. They have influence over both legal and illegal activities. Even Mr. Parker respects them. Do you think you, an outsider, can move against them?"
Eduardo spoke honestly, and though it sounded frightening, it was for Roger's own good. Whether he chose to heed the warning was up to him.
"This is sheer monopolistic power. I never expected such a behemoth to exist in New York." From Eduardo's expression, Roger could tell he wasn't lying. But upon further reflection, he felt the terror of the Power Group.
"Alright, I get it. But Eduardo, you need to pay me double for Yohan's performance last night. Your security measures were inadequate."
"Alright, alright. But let's make it clear, if I give you double the performance fee, I have nothing to do with this matter," Eduardo said. He didn't want to offend both sides and thought it was better to spend some money and let the two factions fight it out themselves.
"Yes, hurry up and bring the money," Roger impatiently said.
After Roger, who had received the money, left Floral bar, he immediately called Douglas, the general manager of Graham Entertainment.
Douglas was the third son of the Graham Group's chairman, already middle-aged. He was smooth in his dealings and had great abilities, but he had a penchant for taking advantage of the female celebrities under his entertainment company. There were even several who bore his illegitimate children.
This had always been a secret that Graham Entertainment kept under wraps.
"What do you want?" Douglas impatiently said after answering the call, with the voice of a woman's panting audible in the background, indicating that Douglas was currently in bed.
"My subordinate singer Yohan has been kidnapped. The other party said they want someone from the Graham Group to negotiate with them to release him," Roger said obediently, afraid of interrupting Douglas' activities.
"Who's the other party? How dare they kidnap our people?" Douglas suddenly raised his voice, sounding rather angry.
"It's someone from New York's Power Group. I heard the Power Group monopolizes New York, so it might be a bit difficult to make them release him in New York," Roger wiped his sweat and said.
"The Power Group in New York? Alright, wait for me. I'll have someone check it, and I'll call you back later." After saying this, Douglas hung up the phone, not knowing whether he really went to check the information.
Roger didn't dare to interfere with Douglas' matters and could only wait patiently for Douglas to give him news.
Half a day later, Roger was lying bored in the hotel room watching TV when Douglas called back personally, and this time, his tone was noticeably more vigorous.
"I've checked the Power Group. There's a person named Antony who is indeed a prominent figure! So, on our end, we will send someone from the Graham family to come over, but the meeting place must be chosen in Long Island. Seven days from now, have him meet at Hope Hall in Long Island for the transaction. If he refuses, then forget it. He's just a third-rate newcomer singer, so we can abandon him."
Douglas seemed unwilling to spend too much energy on a newcomer singer, but if there can be a negotiation, he was still willing. However, selecting Long Island as the meeting place clearly indicated his intentions.
After all, once they're out of New York, the Power Group's influence is almost non-existent. That's why Douglas chose to make the deal on Long Island, cunning indeed.
"Alright, I'll contact them right away," Roger agreed wholeheartedly. "Aren't you impressive in New York? They just tricked you into coming to Long Island, let's see what you can do now."
After hanging up, Roger dialed William's number that he obtained during a previous phone conversation.
It happened to be afternoon when William had just received a call from his mom, who was arriving in New York. He was preparing to pick her up at the train station when his phone rang again.
Glancing at the caller ID, William quickly answered.
"Is this William? Our general manager said to meet for the transaction on Long Island, and members of the Graham family will be there in person to meet you. If you're afraid to come, then Yohan will be left to you. We don't want him anymore," Roger's voice came through the phone, teasingly.
"No problem, just give me the specific address and time. I promise to be there on time," William smirked. Finally, he had managed to secure an opportunity to meet someone from the Graham family, even though he knew it was a trap. But for now, it was his only chance to confront them, and he didn't want to miss it.
"Okay, seven days from now, at Hope Hall on Long Island," Roger said and promptly hung up.
William silently put the phone away.
"It looks like I have no choice but to go to Long Island," William grinned, muttering to himself.
