Chapter 131 Good News and Bad News

At New York Hospital, Noad was currently receiving stitches and bandages. Fortunately, this time it was only a superficial injury, but he still needed several stitches, and his head was wrapped in multiple layers of white cloth.

"Stay in the hospital for a few days for observation. Tomorrow, we'll do a magnetic resonance imaging to check for any possible concussions," the doctor said while filling out the admission form for Noad.

"Do I have to stay in the hospital, doctor?" Noad didn't want to stay in the hospital. He had just started building a hotel in the East district, and there were a lot of people waiting for him there.

If he had to leave for a few days, he was afraid that something unexpected might happen, especially with the board member Bence. If Noad wasn't there, Bence might try something sneaky again.

He still remembered the incident with the ten million dollar loan! If it wasn't for William giving him a check for ten million dollars at the right time, his position as chairman would have been in jeopardy.

"Are you feeling dizzy?" the doctor asked, turning his head.

"A little bit," Noad nodded.

"In case there is a concussion or blood clot inside, we need to carefully examine you. What if something worse happens?" the doctor kindly advised.

Upon hearing that it could be so serious, Katharine and Michelle hurriedly persuaded him as well.

"Dad, it's better for you to stay in the hospital! Leave the company matters to me!" Michelle said seriously.

"Leave it to you? Can you handle it?" Noad wasn't very confident in his daughter. She didn't understand the business world, and if Bence was given three days without Noad's supervision, he might plant another bomb without anyone noticing. No one knew when he would use it against him during a board meeting.

"I can't do it alone, but we still have William, right?" Michelle said, pulling William over. She might not understand much about the business world, but with William by her side, she had great confidence. Besides, she was only replacing him for a few days.

"What happened?" William was confused. How did he get involved in this?

"Okay then. You two can go to the company and work for a few days on my behalf. In the future, when I retire, I will hand over the company to you to manage. Consider it as an early internship!"

Seeing that Michelle dragged William into it, Noad suddenly felt relieved. He only had one daughter, and when he retired, the company would be passed on to the two of them. Now was a good opportunity for them to intern for a few days.

He wasn't worried about Michelle, but he trusted William.

"Well, dad, we promise to complete the mission!" Michelle said with a smile.

William accepted it as well. There wasn't much going on at High Culture recently. They were just dealing with the post-production of the first episode of the second season of "Wilderness Life," which he could leave to his assistant, Susan.

That night, they had to stay in the hospital ward, and fortunately, there were beds and sofas in the VIP ward, so they managed to sleep.

Early in the morning, William was awakened by the sudden ringing of his phone. He sat up from the sofa and quickly answered when he saw that it was Louis calling.

"Louis, is the situation at the construction site resolved?"

"It's resolved, Mr. Brown. That guy confessed too," Louis said with a smile, seeming to be in a good mood!

"Who was behind it?" William asked eagerly.

"That little thug called him Bund. He was paid one hundred thousand dollars every day to steal from the construction site. It seems that government officials were also bribed and deliberately ignored the matter, so they became even more audacious," Louis said over the phone.

"Bund? What does he look like? Do you know him?" William furrowed his brows. He had never heard of this person before.

"I don't know him. As for his appearance, he has slightly darker skin and always wears a mask whenever they meet. That little thug couldn't give a specific description. But he probably isn't from the West District. I've been in the West District for so long and have never seen anyone named Bund," Louis said.

"Alright, thank you for your hard work. Keep an eye on the construction site for me. It would be best to send a few more guys to patrol at night. If there are troublemakers, don't hesitate to deal with them," William said with a cold expression.

"Alright, Mr. Brown. You can rest assured, I'm already recruiting them!" Louis said.

William was taken aback. He didn't expect Louis to be so clever. He had actually managed to recruit these forty to fifty thugs! It seemed that he didn't need to worry about the construction site anymore.

After hanging up the phone, William sent a message to Antony, asking him to help investigate someone named Bund. Although the information provided was scarce, he wanted Antony to investigate it as much as possible.

"Why would Bund target Katharine's project?" William frowned. He felt that starting the search from Katharine might yield faster results.

Michelle and Katharine were squeezed together on a bed in the VIP ward, not sleeping very well. When William was awakened by the phone call, Michelle woke up too.

Rubbing her stiff neck, she apologized to William.

"William, I'm sorry! I've caused you trouble."

"I have good news and bad news. Which one do you want to hear first?" William smiled and said.

"Let's hear the good news first!" Michelle walked to the table and poured William a glass of water.

"The good news is that there won't be any more troublemakers at the construction site in the future." After taking the water, William took a sip to moisten his throat.

"That's great! My mom will be thrilled to hear this news!" Michelle's mood was lifted by this news, and her cheers woke up Katharine.

"Why are you making noise so early in the morning?" Katharine yawned, also looking sleepy.

"Mom, William has resolved the issue with the troublemakers at the construction site. They won't steal our construction materials anymore!" Michelle joyfully said, feeling proud of William.

"Really? Don't lie to me." Katharine was skeptical. She had been working hard for a month, and William came and solved it in just one night - anyone would find it hard to believe.

"It's true, but I also have a bad news to tell you." William's tone suddenly changed.

"What bad news?" Both Katharine and Michelle became nervous at the same time.

"It's a person named Bund. He's the one behind the troublemakers stealing your construction materials." William furrowed his brows.

"Bund?" Michelle and Katharine gave each other a puzzled look. Both looked clueless about this person named Bund.

"Who is he? I don't know him! Why would he target my project!" Katharine exclaimed angrily.

If Katharine herself didn't know this person, there was no way for William to know either. It seemed that they would have to wait for Antony's update. However, their hope was slim.

Noad woke up soon after, but he still felt a bit dizzy. It was unclear whether it was due to excessive blood loss or a concussion.

"William, come and sit next to me." Noad waved his hand to William after sitting up on the sick bed.

William nodded and sat down beside him.

"William, I need you and Michelle to go to my company for a couple of days. There's not much to do. Just keep an eye on Bence, and prevent him from pulling any tricks," Noad instructed.

"Don't worry, uncle. I'll take care of anyone who poses a threat to you," William said, smiling at the corner of his mouth.

Noad paused for a moment and then smiled. He seemed to trust William a lot. "You can stay at my house these days. It'll also be convenient to commute with Michelle."

After some thought, Noad continued.

"And in the evenings, you don't need to come and see me. There aren't any spare beds here, just let Katharine accompany me!"

Both William and Michelle were surprised. Having Katherine come here to take care of Noad at night and letting William stay at the house meant that only the two of them would be together at night.

As Michelle recalled the awkward scene from last night, her face immediately blushed.

"Not a good idea!" Katharine suddenly objected, "If they share a room, something might happen."

"What do you know? Just do as I say," Noad replied somewhat displeased. It seemed like he intentionally arranged it this way!
