Chapter 230 Sorry, No One Can Stop Me From Going In
The population of Long Island has reached over 10 million, with many prestigious families in the city, including some mysterious ones, hidden in the background.
After William got off the train station, all he could see was the constant flow of people. Antony, who had arrived a few days earlier, personally came to welcome William. Standing next to him was a slightly chubby middle-aged man, dressed in a suit with neatly groomed hair, though there was a hint of nervousness in his expression.
This person was Ralph, the head of the Sullivan family responsible for Long Island. He was also the chairman of the three major conglomerates on Long Island. Their family was one of the five major prestigious families on Long Island, with considerable strength.
Therefore, Ralph had a great reputation and power on Long Island.
"Ralph, are you nervous seeing Mr. Brown for the first time?" Antony asked Ralph.
Ralph, a prominent figure in Long Island, usually remained composed in front of anyone he met. However, he was notably nervous when preparing to meet William, with even his palms sweating.
"How can you be so nervous?" Antony looked at him disdainfully. But when he thought back to the first time he met William, he was also excited beyond words.
William had received news beforehand that Antony would come to pick him up. As he looked around the entrance of the train station, he spotted Antony and the slightly overweight middle-aged man by his side.
"Sir, you're here. Let me take care of your luggage!" Antony said. "This is Ralph, who is in charge of Long Island operations for The Browns' Property."
"Hello, Mr. Sullivan." Antony took the luggage from William's hands and pointed to Ralph as he introduced him.
"Nice to meet you. I have prepared a small gift for you, and I hope you won't mind." Ralph, feeling a bit nervous, took out a platinum card from his pocket and handed it to William.
"What is this?" William received the platinum card and asked in confusion.
"This is the highest-level membership card in our family. Anyone who holds this platinum card can enjoy free shopping in any of our family's stores and various priority services," Ralph said seriously. This card represents a kind of identity, an utmost honor.
"Really? What kind of businesses does your family have? I would love to visit next time," William said, taking the platinum card and thinking it would be more convenient for him to operate on Long Island with it.
"We have been developing in Long Island for nearly a hundred years, and have engaged in various industries - supermarkets, finance, internet, real estate, shopping malls, cosmetics, clubs, and more. DQ Group, HY Group, and GS Group are our three major conglomerates and the foundation of our presence on Long Island."
Ralph earnestly and carefully introduced William to these industries. In fact, all these industries were invested and controlled by the Brown family, but they were entrusted to the Sullivan family for management.
"DQ Group is yours?" William remembered Michelle was working as a project manager there.
"Yes, DQ Group is under my responsibility." Ralph didn't understand why William mentioned DQ Group.
"Do you know Michelle? She has recently joined DQ Group as a project manager," William said.
"Yes, there is such a person, and we also gave her a 5% stake," Ralph replied truthfully, still having an impression of the girl.
"Do not let anyone with bad conduct in the company get close to Michelle. Otherwise, you'll be fully responsible for the consequences!" William felt it necessary to reach a consensus with Ralph. With Michelle's stunning looks, he feared that many men in the group would become infatuated with her.
"Understood, understood." Ralph wiped the sweat off his forehead secretly. Previously, it was Mrs. Brown who personally designated Michelle, and now it was a warning from William. It seemed Michelle had a mysterious identity, and Ralph couldn't afford to offend her!
"Of course, you should also let her improve her professional abilities appropriately," William thought for a moment and gave his instructions. Since Cynthia appointed her as the project manager, there must be some intention behind it. He wanted Michelle to perform well.
"Okay, don't worry. I will definitely handle it properly," Ralph nodded and responded.
After discussing the matter, William planned to explore Long Island on his own and asked them to leave.
"You all can go back now. Just put my luggage at the place where I'll be staying. I want to explore by myself for a while. Also, please arrange a place that is not too luxurious. Just a regular one will do."
"Sir, Long Island is a bit chaotic recently. Please be careful. In case anything happens, you can call me." Ralph, worried that something might happen to William, handed him a business card with his phone number.
"Sure, you all can go and attend to your tasks!"
After sending off the two important people, William got into a taxi alone and went straight to find Michelle. Michelle had already sent him her location and address, so William could just go there based on the location.
Half an hour later, William arrived at the villa complex.
Upon receiving William's message, Michelle had been waiting eagerly outside the park. Beside her was a beautiful and charming young lady, dressed in a pink chiffon dress. She was Julia, Katharine's niece and Michelle's close friend.
Because their mothers had a good relationship, Michelle and Julia often hung out together, resembling half-sisters and best friends.
"Michelle, your boyfriend has arrived just in time. We're having a gathering with a few friends tonight, so bring him along. Let's get to know each other!" Michelle was incredibly beautiful and now a billionaire. So Julia assumed her boyfriend must be from a prestigious family, handsome, and wealthy.
However, when William got off the taxi, Julia took a quick look at him from head to toe, and she couldn't help but feel surprised. His inexpensive clothes probably cost no more than a few hundred dollars in total, and although he had an average appearance, he seemed to have come from a poverty-stricken area.
"Michelle, he... he's your boyfriend?" Julia couldn't believe it.
"Yes, his name is William Brown," Michelle replied cheerfully upon seeing William. She introduced him to Julia while holding William's arm.
"William, this is Julia, the daughter of my mother's close friend."
William greeted her briefly, and from Julia's eyes, he could detect a hint of disdain and contempt. William smiled and didn't mind, as he had seen this kind of expression too many times before.
"William, you haven't eaten yet, right? Let's go somewhere and eat," Michelle said with concern.
"Sure, I'm actually a bit hungry." William rubbed his stomach. He was really starting to feel hungry. From morning until now, he hadn't eaten anything.
"Then let's go."
"I'll take you guys out to eat. You're not familiar with this place," Julia said, feeling speechless.
With that, Julia went back home for a while and brought her luxurious Porsche, taking Michelle and William to a nearby upscale restaurant.
Julia shook her head secretly when she saw William's lack of reservation while eating and Michelle constantly introducing dishes to him. She couldn't bear to watch.
"I really don't understand how Michelle could be attracted to such poor people from the impoverished area!" Julia sighed inwardly.
After eating their fill, Julia took William and Michelle to MA club.
"I'll introduce you to some friends at MA club later. They are all wealthy kids from Long Island. If you want to flourish in Long Island in the future, it's absolutely necessary to establish good relationships with them," Julia said seriously.
"Which family owns MA club on Long Island?" William asked casually. If it was the Sullivan family's property, he could try using the platinum card Ralph gave him.
"It's the Sullivan family's property. Why do you ask?" Julia replied instinctively.
"It's nothing, just curious," William responded casually.
Upon arriving at MA club, Julia parked the car nicely and led William and Michelle inside. However, just as they reached the entrance, they noticed that Julia's wealthy friends were all standing outside, looking rather dejected.
There were three boys and three girls, all dressed in luxury brands, clearly from wealthy families.
Julia didn't have time to introduce them before she approached with curiosity and asked, "Why aren't you going in? Didn't you reserve a private room?"
"MA club has been booked for the night. We can't get in. Let's go somewhere else!" One of them, a chubby guy, shouted in frustration.
"Who booked it though? Booking MA club for a whole night costs at least ten million dollars. Who has that much money!" Julia was shocked and speechless upon hearing this.
"I have no idea who it is. They just won't let us in," the chubby guy answered indignantly.
"I guess we should just call it a night. The other clubs aren't as fun as this one." Another young man emerged from the crowd, wearing a pair of black-framed glasses, looking sophisticated, but with a tone of someone experienced.
"Then let's disperse! We'll make plans another day." As they were about to leave, a voice called out and stopped them.
"I have a way to get in."
