Chapter 246 Rescuing Someone in the Basement

Bella's family ran a jewelry company, so she had seen her fair share of rubies from childhood till now. However, the one she held was extremely rare. And being the size of a pigeon egg made it even more exceptional, leaving her astonished.

"This ruby ring seems to be the Dreaming Love, once worn by Princess Diana. Its value is estimated to be at least one billion US dollars!" Bella's appraisal left everyone shocked.

They never expected that the Dreaming Love ring was actually genuine. One billion US dollars - their gasps were audible.

"No way! How could this be real? Bella, please take another look!" Cooper was the first to raise doubts. He had investigated and found information indicating that William came from a poor background. How could this poor man repeatedly show off his wealth in front of him?

"Bella, is this ruby ring really worth one billion dollars?" Gabrielle pressed, hoping for a different answer from Bella. "It's hard to believe!"

"Well, it's really the Dreaming Love. Look at the engraving inside the ring, it's meticulously done. It's impossible to imitate," Bella said, her eyes showing a hint of envy. Then she continued, "Michelle is lucky. Compared to her, I'm far behind. It seems like Michelle is living the best life now. She used to be the laughing stock, but now she's the envy of everyone as a rich man's girlfriend. She might even become a noble madam in the future."

Being able to casually gift Bella a jewelry set worth ten million dollars, and now presenting a ring worth one billion dollars to Michelle, it was something only the elite and noble families could achieve.

Bella's words made the female classmates in the room accept their fate completely. Some people are born as the chosen ones without having to do anything, living a life that others envy, high up in the clouds.

"Actually, it doesn't matter what William gives me. As long as it's from him, I like it," Michelle said as she put the Dreaming Love ring back on her finger. She honestly meant every word. In her eyes, being with William was enough, and material possessions didn't matter. She was the girl who treated love as her sustenance.

After Bella toasted her high school girlfriends who were present, she said to them, "If anyone wants to catch the bouquet, you can go up on stage later."

"Great, I want to go!" Gabrielle was the first to stand up, with anticipation written all over her face.

"I want to go too. I want to catch the bouquet. I'm planning to get married in the next six months," Annabelle stood up as well.

Several girls wanted to catch the bouquet, and even Michelle couldn't resist the urge.

"I want to go too, William. Can I go?" Michelle turned to look at William, as if she could go only with his approval.

William smiled bitterly and said, "Go ahead. Just be careful and don't get pushed over by others."

While Michelle and the other girls were going to catch the bouquet, something significant was happening in the mansion.

The password lock to the basement was opened.

"It's open, it's open!" A short man holding specialized equipment exclaimed with excitement when he saw the iron door opening slowly. He had opened countless locks before, but this lock was the most complicated.

He was the locksmith expert Ralph had hired.

"Follow closely behind me. We might need your lockpicking skills further down," Sharon said and led him into the basement.

Riley was responsible for patrolling outside. She would give advance notice or make up excuses to divert any security personnel who approached.

After Sharon and the others arrived in the basement, the lights automatically switched on upon sensing their presence, indicating that they were motion-activated.

The basement itself was not particularly large, covering only a hundred square meters, but it contained four rooms, resembling an underground prison.

"I wonder what's locked in these four rooms?" Sharon wanted to peek through the door. However, the door was made of icy cold iron, making it impossible to see what was inside.

"Open it." Sharon pointed at one of the doors and instructed the short man.

Upon examining the lock on the door, the man realized it wasn't a complex combination lock but a simple one. This relieved any pressure he felt, and he quickly took out professional tools from his toolbox. After fiddling with the lock for a while, he finally succeeded.

Taking a deep breath, Sharon slowly pushed the door open. In front of them stood a trembling little girl, who appeared to be around ten years old. She had a beautiful face, but her eyes were filled with fear.

Seeing Sharon, the girl instinctively shrank back, her face full of terror.

"This little girl looks beautiful, but it's a pity she has been abused while being locked up here. I'll consult with sir to see if we can save her." Sharon felt sorry for her, but as she took out her phone, she discovered there was no signal in the basement.

"We don't have a signal here. Whatever, let's save her first!"

Making a decision, Sharon quickly moved toward the next door.

The lock-picker swiftly opened the second door as well. This time, a middle-aged man in a suit was locked inside. He sat on the bed with desperate and lifeless eyes, seemingly devoid of hope for the future. However, when he saw Sharon, his eyes flickered with a hint of emotion.

"Who are you?" The man in the suit asked warily.

"I'm here to save you." Sharon decided to save him without informing William. Saving one person was the same as saving two.

"Save me? Who sent you?" The man's eyes suddenly lit up with a flame of survival.

"You don't need to worry about who we are. If you want to get out of here, just follow me obediently." Sharon left this statement behind and proceeded toward the third room.

This time, Sharon didn't need to say anything. The lock-picker directly opened the iron door. Inside the third room was a bald, old man.

"Who are you people?" The old man saw Sharon, but instead of showing fear or nervousness, he spoke hoarsely.

"We are here to save you." Sharon couldn't be bothered to explain further. She had been anxiously searching for Master Smith but hadn't found him yet, which made her quite worried.

"I never expected someone would still remember me." The bald old man let out a bitter laugh, his voice carrying a trace of melancholy.

"There's one room left. Open it."

Sharon took a deep breath. If Master Smith wasn't behind this door, it would mean the mission had failed.

The lock on the door quickly opened, and Sharon pushed open the iron door. The scene inside the room slowly revealed itself before her eyes.
