Chapter 221 Gathering of the Influential Figures
Early in the morning, William drove Kayla and Fiona to Hope Hall in the Bay Area. This was the first building constructed in the Bay Area, as the other places were either desolate grasslands or beach wetlands, yet to be developed.
Kayla was representing the Garcia Group for the auction, while Fiona was going to Hope Hall to find her dad, Cesar. William was accompanying them. Of course, he also needed to attend the auction on behalf of the WE ARE Chamber, but he had to conceal his identity and wear a mask.
When William and the others arrived, the empty surroundings of Hope Hall were filled with various luxury cars. Those who could participate in the auction here were definitely wealthy individuals. After all, the invitation was extended to large enterprises with a market value of over billions of dollars. Small companies didn't stand a chance.
In the parking lot, many influential figures were getting out of their luxury cars and making their way to Hope Hall. If they ran into acquaintances, they would exchange a few words.
"A lot of influential figures from Long Island are here," Kayla, who had recently attended quite a few social events, had also gotten to know many influential figures from Long Island. She immediately recognized them but didn't take the initiative to greet them.
"With so many influential figures gathering here, the competition this time should be intense," William said casually. However, he was determined to win the final piece of land in the Bay Area.
Fiona was diligently searching for her dad in the parking lot but failed to spot him. However, she did see a handsome young man approaching them, or rather, approaching Kayla.
"Kayla, what a coincidence to see you here," the person speaking was Caden from the prominent Long Island noble family, the Didion family. At thirty years old, he had a charming appearance.
Individual net worth is already close to billions of dollars, making him the outstanding figure among the younger generation of Long Island, and the object of admiration for most girls.
Caden met Kayla at a recent party. Despite pursuing many beautiful girls in the past, he was immediately attracted by the alluring and glamorous Kayla. He thought of ways to pursue her.
However, Kayla didn't pay much attention to him. After politely greeting him, she walked towards Hope Hall, but he stopped her.
"Kayla, let's have dinner together after the auction ends!" Caden confidently invited. He believed that no girl could refuse someone from his wealthy family, especially since Kayla was a career-oriented girl who would value establishing a relationship with him, a rich second-generation.
"Sorry, I already have plans." Kayla politely declined and instinctively held William's arm, pretending to be affectionate to show Caden.
Seeing this scene, Caden felt displeased and surprised because William was wearing inexpensive clothes, not resembling a wealthy person at all, but more like someone from a poor neighborhood.
"You made plans with him?" Caden expressed disbelief.
"Yes, he is my boyfriend. If I'm not making plans with him, would I make plans with you?" Kayla said and gave William a playful look, asking him to play along.
William sighed and smiled wryly. Why did they always use him as a shield? Then, he immediately embraced Kayla's sexy waist, exerting a slight amount of force, holding her in his arms. He sternly warned Caden.
"Sorry, could you please stay away from my woman?"
Since they had agreed to the act, they had to be serious about it. Kayla got immersed in the role and leaned half of her body against William's chest.
Seeing this, Caden's face turned pale with anger. After a cold snort, he left.
After he left, William quickly withdrew his hand from Kayla's waist.
"Is there a need to withdraw so quickly? What if he turns around and sees it?" Kayla looked slightly upset and gave William a reproachful glance. In fact, she wanted to be held by William like that. The feeling of being in his arms made her enjoy it.
This was the first time she had been held by William like this.
"Let's go inside first!" William shook his head helplessly and walked forward.
"As if I like being held by you," Kayla coquettishly complained, and Fiona, who was beside them, couldn't help but cover her mouth and laugh.
"Weren't you enjoying it just now?"
"Who enjoyed it? Who are you cheering for?" Kayla blushed at Fiona's words and raised her fist playfully, as if she was about to hit her.
"Alright, alright, Kayla, I'm sorry, okay!" Fiona chuckled and apologized.
Several people chatted and joked as they headed towards Hope Hall.
Hope Hall was newly built and its facilities were not yet complete, but it was more than sufficient for hosting auctions.
After presenting their invitation, Kayla, along with William and Fiona, entered smoothly.
Once inside, they realized that many people had already arrived, several of whom they knew, including Antony.
The entire hall was filled with various high-end seats. The front row was occupied by important figures, with Antony and the top figures from surrounding cities seated in the front. There was an empty seat beside Antony specifically reserved for William.
"Let's find a seat quickly!" William thought it would be better to keep a low profile before the auction started and randomly chose a seat.
Kayla and Fiona sat down as well.
"There are quite a few influential people participating in the auction today. The Garcia Group might have a tough competition." Kayla glanced at the front row, which already had seven or eight important figures. There was still about an hour before the official start, so more important figures would surely take their seats in the front.
"Do you know anyone in the front row?" William wanted to gather some information and prepare himself mentally.
"I know a few. The one in the red T-shirt is Jonathan from the Fair family. Their subsidiary, the Fair Group, has a market value of nearly a hundred billion US dollars. And the chubby guy in the white shirt, holding hands with the girl, is Landon from the Jia family. Their family is a prominent one in Portland, with easily mobilizable funds of around ten billion US dollars."
Kayla introduced them one by one to William, they were all billionaires.
"Are there any stronger ones?" William felt that billion-dollar companies were still not up to his standards.
"There is one. Look at the one who just came in, Silas from the Mitchell family, one of the five major noble families in Long Island. The market value of his group is over five hundred billion US dollars. They can mobilize at least thirty billion US dollars in funds. If you also count their family's resources, the estimated funds they can mobilize would be around fifty billion US dollars."
As Kayla introduced, she pointed him out for William to see.
Following her finger, William indeed saw a middle-aged man in his fifties. He had a lean figure and was holding a cigar in his mouth. There was a gust of wind as he walked, giving off an aura of dominance.
Many important figures even stood up to greet him, including Antony, who couldn't help but greet him as well. It was evident that he was someone of great significance.
"This person knows how to make an imposing entrance." William couldn't help but be impressed.
William smiled and immediately saw Caden. He followed a middle-aged man to the front row and instinctively asked, "Who is the middle-aged man next to Caden?"
"He's Fernando from the Didion family of Long Island, with a market value of over two hundred billion dollars. Behind him stands the entire Didion family. I estimate they can mobilize at least thirty to forty billion dollars," Kayla explained in detail to William.
"There sure are a lot of big shots," William couldn't help but feel amazed. These were just the prominent figures present. William believed there were many more low-key attendees who didn't want to attract attention, waiting in the seats behind. He planned to catch those big shots off guard during the auction.
Soon, almost everyone arrived, including the Wilson family led by Munro with his sons. The rest of their family members couldn't come. After all, each invitation can only bring three people.
"It's about to start in five minutes. This auction is going to be intense," Kayla said excitedly.
"You two sit here. I'll go to the restroom," William said farewell to Kayla and the others before leaving. It was time for him to make his entrance.
After leaving the hall, William went straight to the safety exit at the staircase, where Antony had been waiting. It was all planned beforehand between them.
"Sir, everything is prepared for you. Let me take you there," Antony said, leading William towards the second floor.
There were many empty offices on the second floor, and no one came up here. William followed Antony to an office and quickly took off his cheap clothes, replaced them with a luxurious designer suit, and finally put on a white mask, completely changing his identity.
At the same time, the auction's host had also taken his position. Surprisingly, it was the local famous host Aurelio! Mr. Parker must value this auction to be able to invite Aurelio as the host.
"Ladies and gentlemen, the land auction in the Bay Area will be slightly delayed today. A major guest hasn't arrived yet, so we need to wait a little longer," Aurelio announced. It was already the auction time, but Mr. Parker relayed a message that Mr. Brown hadn't arrived, so they needed to delay the start.
The host's words immediately sparked discussions among the eminent figures present, speculating who it could be, causing the entire auction to be postponed.
"Who could this person be?"
"Could it be someone from Canada? I heard many influential families from there are also interested in the Bay Area."
"It's quite possible that they're a big shot from Canada."
Just as everyone was speculating, William, wearing a white mask, walked in from the security entrance, exuding a strong aura. Following behind him was Antony, whose respectful demeanor sent a chill down the spines of everyone present.
Even Antony bowed his head in front of him. What kind of influential figure is this??
