Chapter 224 The Fiancée is being Kidnapped
In an office on the second floor of Hope Hall, William had already removed his mask and changed into ordinary, inexpensive clothes. Everything appeared quite ordinary.
"Antony, what did Mr. Parker say?" William was curious about the identities of these two people who not only knew that his fiancée was Sophia, but also knew that someone would try to abduct her at next month's concert.
"Mr. Parker said these two individuals are from Canada. They requested to participate in this auction themselves, rather than being invited by him," Antony truthfully answered.
"They requested to participate on their own?" William frowned and asked further, "Under which corporate group did they register?"
To participate in the auction, one must register under a corporate group and cannot participate as an individual.
"It seems to be Joy Investment. They used this company to participate in the auction. However, when I researched this company, their market value happened to be exactly 10 billion dollars, which is the threshold for participating in the auction."
Antony paused, looking puzzled, before continuing, "But they bought Lot No. 3 for 60 billion dollars, which doesn't make sense. It suggests that they must have some other background behind them. Otherwise, solely relying on this investment company would definitely not be able to afford Lot No. 3."
"I see," William nodded. It seemed like these two people were specifically here to inform him that Sophia was in trouble and to ask him to save her. The purchase of Lot No. 3 was a diversion.
As he thought about it, William had a sudden realization and seemed to have figured something out.
"These individuals don't need further investigation for now." William was afraid that if they did more, it might draw attention from others.
"Understood, Sir," Antony nodded. Then, he remembered something important and asked, "Sir, regarding the three lots of land in the Bay Area that were auctioned, what are your plans?"
"What are your plans for development?"
Developing the land is a top priority. Whether they can recover so much money depends on how they develop it!
"Do you think raising the land price is better? Or is it better to cooperate and win?"
William hadn't thought about how to develop it yet. After all, he wasn't from a business background and had no experience in land development.
"Of course, cooperation and win-win is better. And we should cooperate with forces outside of New York as well, taking them into WE ARE Chamber. This way, through the development of these three plots of land, we can smoothly expand WE ARE Chamber externally."
Antony said with great insight.
"Well, not bad. Let's go with your plan! WE ARE Chamber cannot always be confined to New York for development. It's time to expand outward." William nodded, and he trusted Antony's abilities.
"Also, after you handle the land matters, I want you to establish a branch in Long Island. You will be the Chief Executive Officer, and from now on, you will manage all the affairs of WE ARE Chamber. As for New York, you can entrust it to someone you trust."
William wanted to use Long Island as a springboard to expand nationally.
Upon hearing this, Antony was very excited and thrilled. Not only did William trust him so much, but he could finally escape from New York and go to a broader stage. He immediately responded seriously.
"Don't worry, Sir, I will complete the task."
William nodded. After briefing Antony on the matter, he went downstairs. There were several Bay Area contracting projects being auctioned there. William wasn't interested in these multimillion-dollar or even multibillion-dollar small projects. He let others compete for them.
At this time, Kayla was accompanying Fiona. When she saw William come back, she breathed a sigh of relief and said,
"William, you finally came! You missed the bidding just now. It was incredible. Mr. Brown successfully purchased three plots of land at one go. He's truly a rich second-generation on a global scale. He has a lot of money!"
"Is that so? What a pity, what a pity." William pretended to sigh with regret. Then he noticed Fiona sitting beside him, looking a bit down, and approached her with concern.
"Fiona, what's wrong?"
"It's nothing. I just want to go back." Fiona said unhappily.
"Then let's go back! I'll accompany you. Later tonight, we can go bar hopping! It's on me." William thought of making Fiona happy. After all, all of this started because of him, so naturally, he had to resolve it.
"Alright, alright." Fiona suddenly became interested. But soon she remembered something and said, "Let's not go bar hopping after all."
Upon hearing that Fiona didn't want to go bar hopping, William realized the seriousness of the situation. Fiona used to be ecstatic at the idea of going bar hopping and now she didn't want to, which indicated that she wanted to change herself to please Raining. This was a big problem.
William didn't want Fiona to get further entangled in this mess, as it would only make his guilt worse. "Tonight, let's go to the largest and most luxurious Floral bar in New York. I heard there will even be a celebrity performing. Shall we have a round of drinks? How about it? Does it appeal to you?" William felt like he was using his strongest weapon. He didn't want Fiona to think about becoming a lady. The spirited Fiona was the most adorable.
Kayla seemed to understand William's intention and also chimed in persuadingly. "Fiona, the Floral bar is very luxurious. There are even celebrities making guest appearances every night. It'll be fun. Let's go!"
"Really?" Fiona seemed somewhat tempted, but conflicted deep down.
"Don't hesitate. Let's go quickly! After all, today is William's treat," Kayla continued persuading her.
"Okay then, but we'll only stay for a bit and then leave! I still have to go back and livestream," Fiona decided that she would just take a look inside and then leave, so it wouldn't be breaking her resolution.
"Alright, let's go!" Kayla said, pulling Fiona towards the exit.
William also breathed a sigh of relief. He still preferred the original crazy Fiona.
It was still early, and there were no people at the Floral bar yet. So the three of them went back to Ring Villa first, planning to go to the Floral bar after having dinner.
Back at Ring Villa, William sat on the sofa and picked up his phone, scrolling through Instagram. He hadn't seen Sophia for a while, and he was concerned when he heard that someone wanted to kidnap her.
Sophia on Instagram seemed the same as usual. Since leaving New York, she seemed to have been recording songs in the studio, occasionally going out to enjoy local cuisine.
"She still loves to eat." William's lips curved slightly. Fiona walked past William from behind and saw him scrolling through Sophia's Instagram. Suddenly, she felt a bit envious and said, "Sophia is so carefree. She eats wherever she goes. And look at her fans, there are over 20 million of them. Since the official release of the first episode of 'Wilderness Life' Season 2, her fanbase has been growing rapidly. I'm so jealous!"
"If you want, I'll let you make a cameo in the second season," William said with a smile.
The first episode of Season 2 of "Wilderness Life" officially premiered a few days ago and quickly claimed the top spot in the ratings for the same time slot. Of course, half of the credit goes to Sophia.
Her variety show debut has become a hot topic, with half of the top ten trending topics on Instagram being about "Wilderness Life." It's evident just how popular this second season is.
"Really? You're not teasing me, are you?" Fiona's excited smile finally appeared. She had been waiting for this day for so long.
William smiled and continued scrolling through his phone. However, his Instagram browsing was interrupted by an unexpected phone call, which surprised him when he saw the caller ID.
William swallowed nervously. In reality, he was mentally prepared for this outcome. Spending such a large sum of money all at once, which parent wouldn't ask questions?
But when he answered the call, he realized that Cynthia was asking about something entirely different, something important.
