Chapter 12 Let Them Regret It
While William and Ella were making the payment, the middle-aged man and the beautiful women who had caught the attention of the salespeople didn't seem interested in buying anything. They quickly left.
The salespeople returned empty-handed and couldn't help but feel downcast. They looked around the store, unable to find William and Ella, and wondered, "Where did Ella and that poor guy go?"
"They seem to have disappeared. Maybe they left. That poor guy obviously can't afford any luxury cars," someone speculated.
"It's good they're gone. I hate customers like that who act like they have money when they don't," another person commented.
A few moments later, Ella and William's transaction was complete.
All the salespeople agreed with this point, but at that moment, a few office staff members came out from inside, chatting as they walked.
"You can’t really judge anyone by their appearance these days. I never thought that ordinary-looking young man would buy the two most expensive cars in the store."
"Ella’s struck it rich this time. She'll probably make over 100,000 dollars in commissions alone."
"I'm so jealous."
The salespeople nearby happened to overhear their conversation and were instantly stunned.
"Did you guys hear that? That guy just bought the two most expensive cars in the store. Am I hearing things?"
"No way, they must have misheard. How could that guy afford those luxury cars?"
"Seems like that's what they said. Let's go to the payment counter and find out what’s going on. How could he possibly afford two luxury cars, let alone the two most expensive ones? There must be a mistake."
The salespeople were unwilling to accept it and headed to the payment counter. Coincidentally, they ran into Ella and William who were leaving the payment counter after they had finished the payment process.
They pretended to be nice and asked, "How’s it going, Ella? Is there anything we can help with?"
"There’s nothing I need help with. I actually want to thank you. You gave me such a high-quality customer. Mr. Brown has already bought the two most expensive cars in our store." Ella thanked them innocently.
That made them even more embarrassed and regretful, but they were mostly skeptical.
"You mean he paid in full for two top-tier luxury cars?"
"Yeah. If you don't believe it, you can check with the payment counter. Alright, enough talk. I'm going out for a test drive with Mr. Brown. I might not come back in the afternoon. I've taken the day off today," Ella said happily.
She had not only met her college friend William today, but she had also achieved her sales target, and she would receive over 100,000 dollars in commission at the end of the month. Ella was very happy. Today had been her happiest day since graduating from college.
Naturally, she wanted to thank William properly, so after completing all the procedures, she had informed the manager that she was taking the day off and planned to take William out for a big meal to show her gratitude.
William, who had a slight smile at the corner of his mouth, ignored the dumbfounded salespeople. He was in a great mood now. ‘You underestimated me, now I'll make you eat your words.’
But right now, he was going to test drive a Ferrari. What a wonderful thing, especially since he had a beautiful woman like Ella with him.
The salespeople watched William and Ella leave, laughing and talking, and instantly felt regretful. But it was too late. It served them right for looking down on other people.
It was William's first time driving a Ferrari, and if he said he wasn’t excited, it would have been a lie.
"Where to, Ella? Let me take you for a ride."
"Do you remember the place we used to go to for club activities in college?" said Ella nostalgically after fastening her seatbelt.
"The Gourmet Restaurant. Let's go there." William hadn't been there in a long time too. The club often had meals there back in college.
"I haven't been there since I graduated and started working, so it'll a great opportunity to reminisce with an old friend now that I've coincidentally come across one."
William started his newly acquired black Ferrari supercar, and the tremendous roar instantly excited his mood as he sped down the street. His presence attracted many envious gazes.
"When are you and Madison getting married, William?" Ella asked from the passenger seat, her tone filled with nerves.
"We broke up a long time ago. She thought I didn’t have enough money," William replied with a slight smile. He had already let go of this.
"Oh? That's her loss," Ella sighed with relief when she heard about their breakup, feeling a twinge of secret delight.
"What about you? You're beautiful. Have you found your ideal partner?" William remembered that many male classmates had pursued Ella during their university days, but she had rejected them all, even those who were genuinely interested, as she was looking for someone who could connect with her on an intellectual level.
"It's rare to find someone who truly appreciates literature in today's society. Those university days were the best. We were carefree and could discuss literature and explore novels together," Ella reminisced, missing her university days. Her life hadn’t gone well after graduation, and her persistence in poetry and dreams gradually succumbed to reality, which led her to work at a car dealership.
"Those were good times! I can get you a job that suits your interests, Ella," William suggested. Given Ella's pure and innocent nature, she was not suited for selling cars. Who knew when her colleagues might bully her?
"Really? What kind of job?" Ella had wanted to quit sales for a long time, but she had no choice because of the pressures of the market.
"You can be a scriptwriter!" William thought about his return to the company in a few days. A good television program production required a good script, and although Ella had never worked as a scriptwriter, she had written many novels and stories in university. She possessed an imagination and writing skills that many other people didn't have. With a little training, she could become a decent professional scriptwriter.
"A scriptwriter? Can I do it?" Ella was eager to try. She enjoyed anything related to literature, and she had longed to try her hand at scriptwriting.
"Well, I believe you have the ability to grow in this field. Besides, we'll be coworkers in the future, so just ask me if you have any questions," William said with a smile.
"I’m looking forward to it," Ella said, feeling unexpectedly happy and delighted to be working with William.
