Chapter 122 Don't Blame Me For Being Impolite
Mr. Beckett Parker, the mayor of New York, hosts an annual gathering for young talents. The purpose of this event is naturally to discover and select young people with potential for his own use.
Ten most talented individuals will be chosen and awarded the title of the top ten outstanding youth, as a form of encouragement.
Of course, the young people invited to this event are from the prestigious families of New York or nearby cities. Besides testing their luck in becoming one of the top ten outstanding youth, most of them attend for the purpose of broadening their horizons and building connections. Therefore, this event essentially belongs to the upper class society, but with a focus on the youth.
Early in the morning, William drove to Michelle's house. She was getting ready, and when Noad saw William's arrival, he quickly put down his breakfast sandwich and ran over, wearing a smile on his face. "William, you're here! Michelle is upstairs getting ready. Let me go call her!"
"No need, it's still early. I'll wait for her," William said as he looked around, not seeing Michelle's mother. He casually asked, "Where is Auntie?"
"She's been having a headache because of that Ron Real Estate project. Every night, people sneakily take away construction materials from the construction site, and they can't put a stop to it. So this morning, she went to the relevant department to resolve this matter through connections," Noad said with a headache.
Dealing with petty thieves like this was the most troublesome part. Even if they were caught, they would only be detained for a few days. If left unchecked, things would continue to go missing every night.
"Don't they have security guards at the Ron Real Estate site?" William furrowed his brows. It wasn't surprising that construction materials were stolen from the site, but he felt that having security guards would solve the problem.
"Having security guards doesn't help. Sometimes, the thieves even come in groups and resort to robbery if stealing doesn't work! Ron Real Estate is also very troubled by this, but these people are cunning. The construction site is so vast that it can't be fully guarded," Noad sighed and said.
William nodded, feeling like these people were organized in their attempts to sabotage the project, especially when it came to targeting the building materials. William planned to go back and investigate this matter thoroughly.
Soon, after Michelle finished dressing up, she came downstairs wearing a gorgeous white dress.
She walked lightly. Her black hair was styled into large waves, and her delicate makeup made her look even more stunning.
When Michelle looked at William, her eyes were filled with joy, but William was slightly stunned by her beauty today. She looked like a fairy.
"Do I look good?" Michelle was quite satisfied with the expression on William's face. Immediately, she affectionately took William's arm and leaned half of her body against his, and a pleasant aroma filled the air.
William felt slightly intoxicated by the scent. It seemed that Michelle had also sprayed some perfume.
"You look beautiful." William nodded and truly believed that Michelle was extremely beautiful.
Soon, William drove with Michelle to the Neon Grand Hotel in the city center, one of New York's most luxurious hotels.
The party organized by Beckett was held on the eighth floor of the Neon Grand Hotel. When they arrived, the parking lot was filled with luxury cars.
"Only wealthy people come here." William had seen many luxury cars before in other places, but never as many as here. The city center was indeed where the wealthy offspring gathered.
However, Neon Grand Hotel seemed to be owned by the Power Group. Thinking of this, William couldn't help but marvel at his father's power.
"Let's go. The party is on the eighth floor. I have two invitations, so we can go right in." Michelle smiled and walked forward, holding William's arm.
After entering Neon Grand Hotel, they saw that the decoration was also quite luxurious, even the staff members were all attractive. It was pleasing to the eye.
People coming and going were all high-ranking officials and dignitaries. Although this was his own industry, William was still somewhat surprised.
"So this is high society." Having grown up in a poor area, William was still unfamiliar with the upper class.
While William and the others were waiting for the elevator, several handsome men and beautiful women suddenly approached from not far away. When they saw Michelle, they walked briskly toward her.
"Michelle." A magnetic voice sounded behind William, and as William subconsciously turned around, he saw a person leading a group of young men and women walking toward them.
As William looked back at them, Michelle also noticed them, and a trace of disgust flickered in her eyes.
Under subconscious impulse, she leaned closer to William.
"Michelle, you're here too. And who is this beside you?" The speaker, Ben, belonged to an influential family in New York, considered second only to the four major families. It was said to be a branch of the Davis family from Canada, but few people bothered to verify it.
While Ben spoke, his gaze had already fixed on William. This poor man, dressed casually in cheap clothes, inexplicably had Michelle's intimate attention, causing an undeserved wave of jealousy in his heart.
"He's my boyfriend, William Brown," Michelle said openly, intending to tell Ben that she already had a boyfriend, so he should to stop bothering her.
"Your boyfriend? This poor guy?" Ben's eyes flashed with a hint of mockery, but deep down, he couldn't help but feel jealous. A poor man actually obtained Michelle, and that was something he couldn't tolerate.
Michelle furrowed her brows, not wanting to engage with him further. Luckily, at that moment, the elevator doors opened.
Without delay, Michelle grabbed William's hand and tried to enter, but they were blocked by several arrogant young men and women behind Ben. They brazenly said, "Sorry, we'll be taking this elevator. You can take the stairs!"
"Why should only you be able to take this elevator?" Michelle was slightly angry. The party was on the eighth floor, and if they had to take the stairs, she would probably end up with sore feet from wearing high heels.
"Michelle, of course you can take the elevator, but this poor man can't," Ben said, satisfied with the performance of his entourage. He even provocatively glanced at William while speaking.
The meaning was clear: How dare a poor man vie for Michelle with me? I'll make you regret it.
"You... all of you!" Michelle's beautiful face was filled with anger. Wasn't this obviously bullying William? But they had the advantage in numbers, and if she kept arguing, she would only come out on the losing end.
She quickly grabbed William and said, "William, let's just take the stairs. Let's not stoop to their level."
"It's inconvenient for you with those high heels. You should take the elevator," William said with genuine concern. Then, he shifted his gaze to Ben and spoke with a cold tone, "Ben, move aside, or else I won't be polite."
"How dare you, a poor man, threaten me? What would happen if I don't move aside? Today, I'll make you take the stairs. If you want to be impolite with me, come on, I'm waiting," Ben arrogantly retorted.
He didn't take William seriously at all, especially since there were five of them against just one William. No matter how things escalated, he couldn't possibly lose in a physical fight.
"In that case, don't blame me for being impolite." William's lips curved into a faint smile. Then, with one agile kick, he struck Ben's stomach, sending him flying several meters and crashing to the ground.
Everyone was shocked by what they witnessed. This poor man didn't regard Ben as a threat at all! After all, Ben was a member of the prestigious Davis family. Their family history is long and profound, with connections in the underworld.
William has offended them, he's asking for trouble!
Ben, with a disheveled appearance after getting up from the ground, gradually showed a wicked look on his face as he shouted at his companions who were still blocking the elevator door, "What are you waiting for, fools? Beat him mercilessly! I'll take responsibility if anything happens."
These words instantly ignited the fierce nature of his companions. Except for one female companion who didn't join in, the other three male companions rolled up their sleeves and aggressively rushed toward William.
