Chapter 185 Wanting Someone? You Have to Pay a Price
After hanging up the phone, William didn't rush to Vicente. Instead, he made a call to Baca, asking him to bring the black boxing team to Vicente. The other party had brought two hundred people, and William was afraid that he wouldn't be able to control the situation without some skilled fighters.
After finishing the call with Baca, William called for Wendy and instructed her, "Wendy, investigate the assets of the Watson family."
"Furthermore, the assets under Scaley's ownership."
"Very well, Sir," Wendy obediently replied before going to gather information.
In the meantime, William took the opportunity to brush his teeth, freshen up, and enjoy a delicious breakfast. It had been a while since he had tasted Wendy's cooking, and it truly was delightful.
Over an hour later, Wendy finally managed to gather all the information on the assets under the Watson family and the additional assets owned by Scaley.
"Sir, these are the assets under the Watson family, and Scaley also has a substantial number of personal assets," Wendy said, handing over the two sets of documents to William.
Taking them, William quickly scanned through and discovered that the Watson family truly deserved their reputation as the wealthiest family in New York. They had an abundance of assets, more than any other conglomerate he had encountered before.
Furthermore, these assets weren't limited to New York but extended to investments in other cities as well. About half of the invested industries were in the financial sector. No wonder Rodrigo had become the wealthiest man in New York; it seemed making money in the finance industry was indeed profitable.
"Rodrigo is truly wealthy!" William couldn't help but exclaim. While browsing through the documents, he stumbled upon some surprising news.
"The Watson Group actually holds a 20% stake in the Garcia Group. That's impressive!" William's eyes brightened with unexpected joy.
Upon realizing this, William planned to leverage Scaley to negotiate for a 20% stake in the Garcia Group. If successful, he would then hold 45% of the Garcia Group. What an unexpected treat!
"Now let's see what assets Scaley has under his name." Recently, William had developed a keen interest in acquiring assets. To rapidly strengthen himself, continuous acquisitions were the only way. Although his investment company, WE ARE, had already reached a valuation of over 20 billion USD after acquiring the majority of shares from the Bell and Miller families in the North district, it was still insignificant compared to the prominent domestic families.
As the second son of New York's wealthiest man, Rodrigo, Scaley also owned a significant number of assets. Among them, he held a 5% stake in the Watson Group, along with various minor stakes in miscellaneous industries that were not particularly significant.
"Wendy, please prepare several acquisition contracts for me. I will need them immediately." This time, besides teaching Scaley a lesson, William also intended to acquire a majority of his assets. He wanted Scaley to know that he was not someone to be trifled with.
He who provokes him will pay the price.
"Alright, Sir," Wendy obediently replied before running off to prepare the purchase contracts and agreements.
Shortly thereafter; Wendy had prepared several acquisition agreements, and William was pleased with her efficiency. After taking the contracts, he drove to find Vicente.
When William arrived, he saw the Watson Group's security guards surrounding the area. There were about two hundred of them, but thankfully, it was daytime and there were no customers coming in or out.
"It's quite a show of force," William remarked, undeterred by their numbers. He walked straight in, and Vicente was already waiting at the entrance, quickly approaching William when he appeared.
"Mr. Brown, the Watson Group has brought two hundred people this time, led by Victor. What should we do? Should we inform Boss Jones?" Vicente seemed anxious.
"Why worry? No need to call Boss Jones, I'll handle it," William reassured Vicente, patting him on the shoulder. He then sent a message to Baca, asking where they were.
Soon enough, the reply came back that they had already entered the boundary from the North district to the East district and would arrive at the Luxe Club in half an hour.
With this confirmation; William felt assured in his next move. Despite Sharon's absence, he had Baca and his highly skilled Black Fist team. So, William was confident in dealing with just these two hundred people.
Following Vicente inside the club, they entered a spacious VIP room where several people were already waiting. Among them was Agustin, yesterday's pig-headed victim. He was standing, and next to him sat a refined middle-aged man.
Wearing a blue jacket, clean-shaven with a calm expression, the man exuded an elegant and composed aura.
William had never encountered such a person before and couldn't help but take a few more glances.
"Mr. Brown, that's Victor from the Watson Group. He has Rodrigo's complete trust and is skilled in martial arts," Vicente quietly reminded William.
"Oh? Skilled in martial arts as well? Then, it's even more necessary to have a good conversation with him," William smirked. He hadn't expected Rodrigo to send someone he trusted so much to negotiate with him. It further confirmed that Scaley still had some value to offer.
"Hello, I'm Victor," said Victor, standing up and walking towards William after seeing Vicente's respectful demeanor. He knew that this young man who had entered was not ordinary.
William shook his hand.
"I'm William Brown," William thought he just wanted to shake hands and communicate with him. Little did he know that as soon as their hands met, the man's grip tightened forcefully.
"Mr. Brown, you're truly promising," Victor said with a smile, increasing the strength in his grip.
"Thank you for your compliment," William replied with a faint smile and added a bit more strength to his own grip.
The two of them silently challenged each other, holding onto the handshake for a full three minutes before finally letting go.
Victor was inwardly surprised by William's unexpectedly strong grip, while William was equally surprised. Despite Victor's refined appearance, he possessed considerable strength.
If William hadn't been consistently working on strengthening his own physical power, he would have easily been overpowered during this handshake challenge. It wasn't just a matter of losing face, but the negotiations would also have been compromised.
"Mr. Brown, the purpose of my visit is to demand someone from you," Victor said directly, resuming his seat.
"Who do you want? If you don't explain clearly, I won't know who you're referring to," William smiled, feigning ignorance. Victor was quite formidable, and William needed to buy some time until Baca brought the team of black-boxers, ensuring that the negotiations would proceed smoothly.
"Don't play dumb with me, Mr. Brown. Scaley, the Watson family's son, was captured by you last night. I don't want to waste time. Hand Scaley over today, or nobody here will leave standing," Victor said with a threatening tone. It seemed he was confident in his actions, or rather, certain of his victory.
"You're quite arrogant," William coldly remarked.
"Do you want to test your skills against me? Witness my strength," Victor thought of giving William a show of force, making him realize his own power and thus not daring to withhold Scaley any longer.
"A test? That's not impossible. Vicente, why don't you go spar with him," William observed Victor's astonishing strength, understanding that his opponent's abilities were undoubtedly formidable. Therefore, not being sure of his adversary's true strength, William felt it necessary to have Vicente test him out, while also buying some time.
"Vicente? Alright then," Victor chuckled. He didn't hold Vicente in high regard, but since William suggested having Vicente step forward for a fight, Victor didn't mind using this opportunity to intimidate and show his power, just to see whether Mr. Brown would remain so arrogant.
As Victor spoke, he stood up while Vincente, fully aware that he may not be able to defeat Victor, prepared to also stand up. However, William stopped him and quietly reminded Vicente,
"It's alright if you can't win. Just buy me some time."
"Wait for the rest of my men to arrive, and we will have control of the situation." Vicente was pleasantly surprised when he heard that William was sending reinforcements. He nodded in agreement and said, "Very well, Mr. Brown, I've noted it!"
Vicente then walked up to join Viktor, and the two of them stood face to face in a large private room, which provided enough space for them to fight. Soon, Vicente and Victor began their duel. Although Victor appeared refined, he fought fiercely, forcing Vicente to constantly evade his attacks.
"Why are you hiding? If you have the courage, face me head-on," Victor challenged impatiently. "If you have the guts, come and chase me," Vicente, following William's instructions, focused on evading and delaying time instead of engaging in direct confrontation with Victor. In reality, Vicente was no match for Victor if they were to fight seriously. Dodging and evading was the best strategy for now.
The two continued their chase and evasion, as time passed quickly. Suddenly, a subordinate rushed in anxiously from outside and reported loudly, "Something bad has happened! Numerous skilled fighters have infiltrated, and our men are no match for them!"
