Chapter 290 Win Another Round
Howard never expected that Mr. Davis would abandon him to die. Seeing this cold message, he was disappointed in Mr. Davis for the first time.
"How is this possible? How could Mr. Davis abandon me like this?" Howard found it hard to accept this cruel blow.
"Eric is too heartless!" Howard felt a chill in his heart. Without Mr. Davis's rescue tonight, how could he possibly stand against so many people on the scene?
But soon, Howard remembered the second bet that William had mentioned.
"I admit defeat in the first bet. What would be the second bet? Tell me, I'm willing to bet again" Howard said.
At this point, Howard had no choice. He relied on Mr. Davis to confront William before, but now he had no other way. This was his last resort.
"The second bet is simple. We'll choose three people and have a fight, with three rounds and two wins. If you win, Jeremiah will be returned to you. If you lose again, you have to submit to me. How about that?" William stared directly at Howard as he spoke.
"Alright, but I want to bring in one more person." Howard was confident in his own abilities, so he knew he would win this round. But if he wanted to win the next one as well, he needed Travis, his most talented student.
"No problem, let your person bring him in," William said calmly.
William had a purpose for having two bets. The first round was to strike his psychological confidence, and the second round was to...
In order to impress him with their skills, William needed to defeat him in both the aspects. Only then would Howard follow him willingly.
Howard replaced the five students he brought in with Travis, whom he favored the most.
"Now, let's begin. I'll go first. Who wants to challenge me?" Howard wanted to boost his team's morale. He couldn't accept the outcome of the first bet, so for the second one, he aimed to dampen the opponent's spirits to pave the way for Travis later.
"Beauvoir, it's your turn for this match. You must win," William said, turning to look at Beauvoir behind him. He felt that Beauvoir was the only one present who could compete with Howard.
"Then watch closely!" After taking a sip of his drink and wiping his mouth, Beauvoir headed toward Howard. He was eager to experience the power of his boxing skills.
"Old man, my fists can take your life. If you can't handle it, surrender quickly. Maybe I'll spare you," Howard said, underestimating the hunched old man that William sent.
"When I became famous, you were still drinking milk. Don't beg for mercy later," Beauvoir chuckled.
"Old man, take this punch from me!" Howard threw a punch at him.
Boxing emphasizes speed, accuracy, and ruthlessness. Therefore, Howard's punch was extremely fast, but Beauvoir's reaction wasn't slow either. He easily avoided it by taking a small step to the side.
"Nice move. Then I won't hold back." Seeing that Beauvoir was skilled, Howard unleashed his attacks.
Each punch was accompanied by footwork and utilized the power of his waist muscles, showcasing his strength as a master of boxing.
Every punch was incredibly fast, creating a whistling sound as it tore through the air. There was even a faint surge of energy, indicating that Howard was close to breaking through to the level of superpower projection.
William watched from a distance, astounded by Howard's abilities. Indeed, Howard was formidable. If William had fought, he would have surely lost within ten rounds.
Howard kept pressing Beauvoir, launching a rapid series of attacks that made Beauvoir's defense seem difficult. It was the first time William had seen Beauvoir being pushed like this.
"Old man, I didn't expect you to be this good at defending. But let's see how long you can hold on," Howard said, increasing the force and speed of his punches.
"Hehe, you haven't seen my true skills yet." Beauvoir leaned back, dodging another punch, and unexpectedly launched a low kick directly at Howard.
When the latter realized, he quickly squeezed his legs together, preventing Beauvoir's attack.
Beauvoir's leg was caught, and just as he felt relieved, Beauvoir quickly withdrew his leg and punched Howard in the face before he could react. "William, I'll teach you a powerful move today. Pay attention."
This punch seemed ordinary, and Howard didn't pay much attention to it.
"Well done, I'll knock you down with one punch now!" Howard, full of confidence, swung his fist in response.
However, just as the two fists were about to collide, a strong energy burst from Beauvoir's fist. This energy was incredibly powerful and directly sent Howard flying, leaving him lying on the ground with an incredulous expression.
"This is super energy release! How is it possible?" Howard got up from the ground, and when he looked at Beauvoir again, there was a trace of admiration in his eyes.
To be able to achieve super energy release meant reaching the level of a grandmaster. That was not something he could win against, even though he was only one step away from super energy release himself. It was a chasm between them.
William was also stunned. Beauvoir clearly hadn't reached the level of a grandmaster, so how could he achieve super energy release?
"What do you think? Do you still want to fight?" Beauvoir walked over with a smile. In fact, after throwing that punch just now, he had almost depleted his own super energy. If he faced Howard's fist techniques again, he probably wouldn't be able to withstand it for long.
"I admire you, I surrender. May I know your name, sir?" Howard's admiration was sincere this time. He even bowed to Beauvoir. A master who could unleash super energy deserved this bow, and he wasn't unjustly defeated.
"I'm just an old man, you can call me Beauvoir. Since you have surrendered, step aside. I want to go back and have a drink," Beauvoir said as he walked back, taking a sip of wine to calm his nerves. In truth, he was very weak now, with very little super energy left in his body.
"Did you see the move clearly?" Beauvoir asked William.
"I didn't quite understand it. Please enlighten me." William really didn't see how he did it.
"How do you unleash your superpower? You throw away the knife and treat your hand as the knife. By using the same method, you can master this move too," Beauvoir explained and patted William's shoulder.
Upon hearing this, William's eyes brightened.
"Thank you for your guidance!" William seemed to have understood something and wanted to test it out immediately. He stepped forward and said to Howard, "Howard, we won the first round. I'll take it from here. Who do you send to fight?"
Howard looked at Travis next to him and nodded. The latter seemed to understand his meaning. He took a step forward and said, "Student Travis from the Bevery Club, I'm here to learn from you."
