Chapter 247 Something Big Happened
This was the last room in the basement. As Sharon pushed open the door, the scene inside slowly unfolded before her. There was an old man in gray clothes lying motionless with his eyes closed.
Sharon's heart tightened, and she took a step forward. As soon as she saw the old man's face, she was instantly shocked and delighted.
"It's Master Smith!" Sharon had a photo of Master Smith, which she had seen before, so she recognized him immediately.
Although they had found the person, it seemed like Master Smith had fainted and his body was weak. Sharon called out to him a few times, but he didn't respond, making her anxious.
"We need to get him out of here quickly, or else we might lose him!" Sharon initially wanted to carry him herself, but if she carried Master Smith, she wouldn't be able to shield him if they encountered security personnel.
"Gerald, you carry Master Smith." Sharon assigned this task to Gerald, but Gerald was short and couldn't possibly carry the tall and stout Master Smith.
"I can't carry him." Gerald glanced at Master Smith's tall figure, feeling helpless.
"I'll carry him." It was the middle-aged man in a suit who stood up. He immediately carried the unconscious Master Smith from the bed, making it look effortless. "Let's go. If we're discovered, we won't be able to escape."
Everyone nodded in agreement and quickly hurried towards the exit. However, halfway through, the entire basement suddenly blared with an alarm.
"What's going on? Why did the alarm go off?" Gerald was shocked.
"The iron doors were open for a long time. This might have triggered the alarm. I've experienced this before," The bald old man explained, suggesting that he had been here for quite some time.
"Then why are we waiting? Let's run quickly!" Gerald was terrified of dying and immediately carried the ten-year-old girl in his arms, rushing madly towards the exit. He didn't want to die here.
The others also ran frantically. After finally getting a chance to escape, there was no way they would let themselves be captured again.
"I'll lead the way, follow me." Sharon took out her trusty folding knife, held it in her hand, and took the lead to run out of the basement.
As she emerged, she saw more than ten security guards already rushing toward their location. They were just the first group of guards, and reinforcements were on their way.
Riley, who had been out all the while, was nowhere to be seen. She didn't run away; instead, she went into hiding to inform William discreetly.
William was still in the hotel while Michelle and the others had finished catching the bouquet. However, Michelle couldn't catch it and felt a bit disappointed.
"William, I didn't catch the bouquet," Michelle said with a tinge of sadness as she descended from the stage. She heard that the person catching the bouquet would be the next one to get married.
"It's okay if you didn't catch it," William consoled her, but his expression changed as he read a message from Riley. He turned to Michelle and said, "Michelle, I need to use the restroom. Please wait for me here."
Saying that, he ran off to a secluded corner and contacted Baca and the others who had been waiting outside the luxury mansion. He asked them to quickly meet Sharon.
After arranging everything, William secretly felt fortunate for demolishing the mansion in the suburbs and neutralizing the security there, thereby reducing the security force at the luxury mansion invisibly.
However, that alone was not enough.
"I need to find a way to delay Timothy and buy some time for Sharon," William thought to himself.
Lost in thought, William paced back and forth in a corner, aware that time was running out. The only swift and effective solution he could come up with was to knock Timothy unconscious using force. It was the best way.
"That's the only choice for now. But I can't reveal my identity in front of him. I need to disguise myself." William surveyed his surroundings and suddenly spotted Cooper coming out of the restroom.
"It's you, Cooper," William said with a smile, walking toward him. He intended to lead him away to a less crowded area.
"What do you want from me, William?" Cooper glanced at William with annoyance.
"Don't you want to know how I got the Dreaming Love ring? I can tell you now, but there are too many people here." William fabricated a reason that he might believe and headed toward a less crowded corner.
As expected, Cooper fell for it.
"I knew you were poor. You didn't steal the Dreaming Love, did you?" Cooper thought, finding a chance to turn the tables. He followed William quietly.
When they reached an empty corner, Cooper suddenly became cautious and asked, "Where are you taking me? If you don't tell me, I'm leaving."
"Come closer, and I'll tell you." William signaled toward him with a wave. After hesitating for a moment, Cooper's desire to turn the tables overpowered his caution.
As Cooper approached, William landed a punch on the back of his head, knocking him out cold. He then proceeded to strip off Cooper's clothes and put them on himself.
Once William had removed the clothes, he casually locked Cooper in an empty storeroom. From there, he found a black cloth to cover his own face.
From the clothes and appearance, he now looked exactly like Cooper.
"I'm borrowing your identity. If something goes wrong, you'll take responsibility." William smirked.
He quickly made his way out, his target being Timothy.
The wedding reception had already ended, and the sky outside was turning dark. Timothy was busy seeing off the guests when he received an urgent call from his subordinate.
"The people locked in the basement have been rescued, but thankfully the alarm went off in time. They're trapped inside the mansion."
"Do whatever it takes to stop them. We can't let them escape!" Timothy realized the severity of the situation. Those four people locked in the basement were under his care by the order of the Graham Group. If anything went wrong under his watch, he couldn't fathom how many times he would pay for it.
"I'm sorry, everyone. I need to go back right away." Timothy hastily bid farewell to the guests and asked his son, Ryder, to take over. He then called for two bodyguards and rushed toward the underground garage while requesting backup on his phone.
He was extremely anxious. If those four individuals managed to escape, he wouldn't live to see another day.
However, as they arrived at the basement parking lot in the elevator, a person with a black cloth covering his face appeared in front of them, blocking their way.
