Chapter 340 Inheritance
The battle against Ryan was the most difficult one that William had fought. He narrowly avoided being struck in vital areas several times by Ryan's dagger but still sustained a number of injuries. As for the depleted superpower, it was quickly replenished by the bear's paw. 'William, are you alright?' Arianna asked with concern. 'I'm fine for the most part, but it seems Lionel's poison has taken effect. Let's go check on him!' William scanned the surroundings."
Lionel, at this moment, his complexion was slightly purple, but fortunately, his strong superpower prevented the poison from immediately taking his life. However, if things continued like this, he wouldn't be able to hold on for much longer.
"Master, Master, are you okay?" Arianna looked anxious, her eyes welling up with tears, clearly frightened by Lionel's current state.
Meanwhile, Lionel's other students gathered around him, all looking mournful.
"Don't cry for me, I'm not dead yet," Lionel scolded, taking a breath, then glanced at William with gratitude.
"William, thanks to you this time, otherwise, Ocean Guild would have been done for! You came as a guest for the first time and witnessed this comedic scene; cough, cough..."
Lionel began coughing intensely, even coughing up black blood, indicating that the toxicity had already reached his bone marrow. This sudden change scared his students, causing their faces to pale.
"Master Lionel, can this poison be cured?" William asked seriously. If this poison couldn't be cured, Lionel's life would be in danger.
Fate really played tricks on people. It was already difficult enough to find the two informants who secretly warned him, and now, just one day after gaining strength, such a big incident occurred. If they encountered it a few days later, William feared he would never see them again in his lifetime.
"This venom cannot be cured anymore. The delay has been too long, and the poison has already infiltrated my organs. Previously, I could slow down its penetration with my powerful superpower, but my breath was disrupted by Ryan's strike, and now I can no longer suppress the toxicity," Lionel explained, coughing again, his complexion becoming increasingly worse.
"Is it this serious?" William frowned, but unfortunately, he didn't understand medical skills, let alone how to save Lionel.
"I've lived long enough. Even if I die, it will be worth it," Lionel said with a hint of resignation, then coughed as he instructed Arianna.
"Arianna, after I die, Ocean Guild will temporarily be under your care."
Lionel knew his time was running out, so he needed to arrange his affairs, or else he wouldn't be able to leave in peace.
"Master, you will get better. You won't die!" Arianna said with teary eyes. She had been living with Lionel since childhood, and their bond was strong. She couldn't accept her master suddenly passing away.
"This is a great calamity for Ocean Guild, but as long as we overcome it, there is still hope for Ocean Guild," Lionel reassured her before suddenly turning to William with pleading eyes.
"William, I hope you can stay and join Ocean Guild. Whatever conditions you have, please speak up, and I will try my best to fulfill them."
Lionel's eyes were filled with a longing look, hoping that William would stay and become a member of Ocean Guild.
Only William has enough power to resist Ryan's attack. Otherwise, he will die and Ryan will come up the mountain to attack again.
"William, as long as you are willing to stay, I will listen to you in the future!" Arianna looked at William eagerly, her eyes still filled with tears. She wanted to make sure that Master didn't have any regrets before his death.
The other students also looked at William. They were already convinced by the power he had just displayed. Only William could stand up against Ryan.
After considering for a moment, William said to Lionel, "There is something I want to consult with Master Lionel privately. Once I get the answer, I will agree to join you."
William had always wanted to know how Lionel and the others found out about the Graham family's plan to kidnap Sophia. So as long as he got this answer, William could join their Ocean Guild.
"Arianna, you all can go outside first. I need to have a private conversation with William," Lionel said calmly.
"Master, we will wait for you outside!" Arianna said sadly, leading the other students outside.
"Now that they are gone, feel free to ask me anything, William," Lionel said, coughing.
"I want to know how you found out that the Graham family intended to kidnap Sophia," William rephrased his question.
"How did you know about that?" Lionel suddenly widened his eyes in shock. He had only informed one person secretly about this matter, and no other information had leaked.
"I am Mr. Brown, the one you passed the note to!" William thought for a moment and answered truthfully. Lionel had been kind to him and was also someone who would soon pass away. There was no need to hide it from him.
"You, you are Mr. Brown??" Lionel suddenly became excited, his face filled with joy. He even coughed up blood due to his excitement, but even so, it couldn't stop Lionel's excitement.
"We tried so hard to find you, just to be friends with you. We didn't expect that fate would bring you to us."
"Master Lionel, please take care of your health," William expressed his concern for Lionel's physical condition.
"Mr. Brown, Ocean Guild controls the largest domestic intelligence organization, The Sky and The Earth. However, a few years ago, Ryan betrayed us and took away the personnel from The Earth, causing Ocean Guild to decline."
After catching his breath, Lionel continued, "Luckily, Ocean Guild still controls the personnel from The Sky."
"And The Sky's intelligence personnel are specifically responsible for monitoring prominent families and martial arts sects, so we know many secrets unknown to the world. This includes the news that Sophia is your fiancée, as well as the Graham family's plan to kidnap Sophia."
William nodded. As he expected, Ocean Guild controlled a mysterious organization, but he didn't anticipate that the organization had split into two.
"When we received information about the Graham family planning to kidnap your fiancée, I thought it was a good opportunity to get you indebted to Ocean Guild. However, we couldn't find any updates on you afterward."
Upon hearing this, William couldn't help but smirk. It seemed that he had hidden himself too well, even eluding The Sky's investigation.
"So, you only wanted me to owe you a favor by secretly informing me. You're right," William replied casually. Indeed, if it weren't for their kindness towards him, he might not have come here.
"Mr. Brown, my time is running out. If you are willing to join Ocean Guild, you will become the master of Ocean Guild," Lionel said. He initially intended to pass the position of master to Arianna, but upon learning of William's identity, he immediately changed his mind. Only by passing it to Mr. Brown, Ocean Guild would have a chance to restore its former glory.
While speaking, Lionel tremblingly took out a metal token from his body and handed it to William.
"This is the token of Ocean Guild. With it, you will be the master of Ocean Guild and have the authority to mobilize The Sky's personnel nationwide."
William hesitated as he held the token in his hand, but ultimately accepted it. He needed The Sky to learn about the members of Canada, Kitchener, and other prominent families.
Only then could he guard against future troubles.
"Alright, I agree," William nodded.
Lionel, upon seeing William's agreement, breathed a sigh of relief as if he had finally fulfilled a wish before his death.
He then called Arianna and the other students back and said weakly, "William has agreed to join Ocean Guild. From now on, he will be the new master of Ocean Guild. I hope you all assist him well."
As soon as his words fell, Arianna and the others were astonished. The Master had actually passed the position to someone who had only been in Ocean Guild for a day, which was truly unexpected.
However, before they could fully react, Lionel suddenly...
