Chapter 13 Arrange the Best Doctor
During the day, William and Ella spent some time together and had a pleasant conversation. When evening approached, William drove Ella to her apartment building in his Ferrari.
"Would you like to come up for a cup of coffee William?" Ella shyly invited William up, her expression revealing a hint of hesitation.
"No, I'll head back home. Goodbye, Ella," William declined politely, ending their evening.
"You should rest,"" William said with a smile. It was getting late, and he was afraid that being alone together might lead to him losing control.
"Okay, take care on your way back!" Ella felt a little disappointed but quickly regained her composure. She didn't forget to show concern for William before he left.
"Yeah, you should get some rest too!" After waving his hand, William got into his Ferrari and quickly drove away.
Ella watched the Ferrari for a long time before reluctantly turning back to her rented apartment.
The night passed in silence, and the next morning, William arrived at the entrance of Concord Hospital in New York in his Ferrari.
Today was the day of his university class reunion, but before that, William planned to visit Daria and pick up Liam to go to the gathering together.
‘I wonder how they’re doing,’ PWilliam thought to himself as he held a bouquet of flowers and a basket of fruit. Prior to his arrival, he had asked Liam about the room in the hospital, so when he entered, he went straight to the ward, searching for it using the floor and room number.
Soon, he found Daria’s ward. Liam was with her inside the room, carefully feeding her soup. Although Daria's eyes seemed weak, they were filled with profound affection for Liam.
As William watched them, he couldn't help but feel envious. When he saw them, he could still believe that love existed in this world.
"You two are such lovebirds," William said with a smile as he walked in, placing the bouquet of flowers and the fruit basket on Daria's bedside table.
"You're here," Liam had only just noticed William's arrival and smiled, giving up his chair for William.
William didn't stand on ceremony with Liam and sat down, then turned to greet Daria, who was in the hospital bed.
"How's your health? When are you having the surgery?"
"I’m alright for now. But the surgery might be postponed since we haven't found a suitable kidney donor. I really appreciate you, William. When everyone else doubted us, you were the one who stepped up to help us." Daria's face was pale, but her eyes were filled with gratitude. Liam had already told Daria about the $300,000 that William had lent them, and she was truly thankful.
"When I look at you two, I can believe that there’s still beauty in this world," William said with a smile, secretly keeping the matter of Daria's kidney in his heart. After chatting for a while, William made an excuse to go to the restroom and left.
He found a secluded spot, took out his phone, and dialed Antony's number. It was better for the surgery for uremia to be done as soon as possible. If it was delayed, the chances of success would be smaller. William wanted to help them further.
Antony quickly picked up. He sounded excited.
"Did you need something from me, Sir? What's the matter?"
"A close friend of mine has kidney failure and urgently needs surgery and treatment. I need you to find a matching kidney source and get the best doctor for her surgery. Money is not an issue." William stated his request directly.
"No problem, Sir. I’ll make sure to arrange the best doctor and find a matching kidney source as soon as possible. You can trust me," Antony assured him. He wasn’t going to disappoint William.
"That's great. I’ll send you the hospital information, room number, and my friend’s name later. But make sure they don't know that I'm helping them," William instructed him again. He didn’t want Liam to know his identity yet.
"Okay, you’ll have absolute confidentiality," Antony promised firmly, confident in his ability to keep a secret.
After William hung up, he sent Daria's medical information to Antony and went back to Daria's ward, adjusting his mood and engaging in cheerful conversation with them. Soon, it was almost noon, and Daria's mother had arrived.
William wanted to take Liam to the class reunion
"Go, Liam. It's been three years since you've seen your classmates. Have a good reunion!" Daria was very understanding.
Liam followed William out of the ward with Daria's approval. Luckily, Daria's mother had come to sit with her, which relieved Liam's worries a little.
But when he stepped outside the hospital with William and saw his Ferrari, Liam's mouth dropped open in disbelief.
"Where did you get a Ferrari from, William?"
"I rented it. Luckily, I know a friend at the car rental company, and it didn’t cost much," William casually made up an excuse.
"You'll definitely overshadow our classmates with this Ferrari." Inside the car, Liam looked around with envy at the luxury vehicle, but it was only a momentary desire. To get a car like this, you would need to be born into a family that had it. Otherwise, you probably wouldn’t be able to get it within a lifetime.
"Let's go. It's time for the class reunion. They'll be impatiently waiting for us," William smiled slightly. The person he most wanted to see at the reunion was Michelle. He wondered how she had changed after returning from abroad.
