Chapter 302 A Blessing in Disguise
In a dazed state, William faintly heard someone crying. He struggled to open his eyes and found himself lying in an ambulance surrounded by many people. He tried to move his fingers but realized he had no strength in his entire body.
"That fortune teller truly has some ability. It seems he accurately predicted the bloodshed. Luckily, I've kept the pill he gave me with me at all times. I wonder if it has any effect," William thought as he struggled to reach for his pocket. However, his hand lacked any strength. Fortunately, Michelle noticed it immediately.
"William, you're awake," Michelle, with eyes already swollen from crying, noticed William's finger movement and looked over.
William couldn't speak, so he pointed to his pocket with his finger.
Understanding his gesture, Michelle wiped away her tears and reached into William's pocket, finding a dark brown pill inside.
"What's this?" Michelle was a bit confused. She wasn't present when William had his fortune told, so she had no idea what it was.
But Sophia, who was standing nearby, suddenly remembered something upon seeing the pill.
"This is the pill the fortune teller gave to William. He said it could save his life."
"Which fortune teller?" Antony's anxiety had reached its peak. Upon hearing there might be something that could save William, he quickly asked.
"It's the fortune teller we encountered a few days ago. He mentioned that William and I would have a bloody encounter in the next few days, and then he gave this pill to save him," Sophia explained earnestly.
Kylie, standing nearby, seemed to recall something and said, "I remember him. We met him before."
She also remembered something, nodded and agreed, "Yes, the fortune teller did say that."
"In that case, what are we waiting for? Quickly give it to young... William." Antony saw so many people and quickly managed to correct himself.
Upon hearing that the pill could save William, Michelle stuffed it into his mouth.
After the pill entered his mouth, William hardly had the strength to bite down, but luckily, the pill dissolved immediately. William swallowed it along with his saliva and fell unconscious once again.
When they arrived at the top-tier hospital on Long Island, Ralph had already made arrangements. They were immediately admitted to the best hospital room.
A large group of top doctors quickly rushed over to treat William and took him straight to the ICU.
"You must save him for me, or else all of you can get out." Ralph roared angrily as he watched them push William into the ICU.
If William died under his protection, the Sullivan family would surely be extinguished. He had already experienced the terror of the Brown family thirty years ago.
Antony was also pacing back and forth anxiously outside the corridor. These two prominent figures were so fearful and desperate that if people outside found out, it would surely be surprising.
Meanwhile, Michelle, Sophia, and others were anxiously waiting outside, praying silently in their hearts.
Michelle's eyes were red and her face was weary. Standing outside the ICU ward, she appeared somewhat lost.
Memories of her and William kept replaying in her mind, and she couldn't imagine how she would live without him.
Julia felt uneasy seeing Michelle like this and couldn't help but come up to comfort her.
"Michelle, William will be fine. He will definitely be fine."
At this moment, Sophia blamed herself and cried. She never imagined that there would be a man who would sacrifice himself to protect her.
"It is because of me that William got hurt" Sophia leaned on Kylie's shoulder and sobbed.
"It's alright, William will be fine. Didn't the fortune teller say that the pill could save his life?" Kylie also felt uneasy seeing Sophia like this. As she say pondering; her thoughts led back to William and how willing he was to sacrifice himself to protect Sophia. Resulting in Kylie looking at him in a new light.
In her eyes, a seemingly ordinary and poor person that she normally would not bother with had suddenly became a tall and dignified man.
"But didn't you all say that the fortune teller was a fraud?" Sophia sobbed.
"He shouldn't be a fraud." Kylie could only console her like this. In reality, she didn't truly believe what the fortune teller had said, however; in this moment, she really hoped that his words were true.
Time seemed to be dragging along for the group of people waiting anxiously outside the ICU ward. Suddenly, the attending doctor opened the door and came out, looking exhausted.
"I'm sorry, Mr. Sullivan. The patient's internal organs have been severely damaged by the superpower's impact. His functions are greatly compromised, and it is feared that he won't live long."
"What do you mean he won't live long? I think you just don't want him to live." Ralph immediately grabbed the collar of the attending doctor, his eyes filled with a menacing glare.
"Mr. Sullivan, we really have done all we can!" The attending doctor's face turned pale with fear. He knew that his medical career was probably coming to an end today.
Soon, other doctors involved in the treatment came out, all wearing a dejected look.
"I don't care. If you can't save him today, everyone is fired, and I guarantee that none of you will ever be able to practice medicine again." Ralph became furious, feeling as if the Sullivan family's doomsday was approaching.
Michelle couldn't believe what she was seeing, her face devoid of color.
"It's impossible. William won't die." With that, she tried to rush into the ICU ward, while Sophia also wanted to see William one last time.
However, just as they were in a state of despair, William suddenly walked out of the ICU ward on his own. Although there were still bloodstains on his body, he appeared calm and his eyes were bright.
"I'm not dead yet, so why the rush?" William's lips formed a slight smile. The miraculous pill from earlier had indeed worked wonders. Not only did it repair his damaged internal organs, it also seemed to provide him with abundant superpowers. He now felt an inexhaustible strength within him, as if he could release superpowers with a simple punch.
Furthermore, William realized that his senses had greatly improved. He could even hear the heartbeats of everyone present. It seemed as if his misfortune had evolved into a stroke of luck, and this feeling was truly wonderful.
"William..." Michelle and Sophia were the first to be stunned on the spot, while a very stuuned Ralph and Antony took a while to react.
But the most shocked ones were the medical experts.
"How...how could he walk on his own? This is impossible..." Even though everyone present was a top-level expert, they were all taken aback by this unscientific event.
After confirming that William was still alive, Michelle burst into tears of joy and threw herself into his arms, holding him tightly, feeling the warmth of his body. It was the joy of courage and resilience regained.
Sophia stopped in her tracks but couldn't help but cry tears of joy as well.
