Chapter 361 Someone's Here for Eliza
After the great battle, most of the core members of the Ocean Guild were either dead or injured. However, nine Grandmaster-level experts managed to survive, albeit with significant injuries.
Six of these Grandmasters were originally with Ryan, but since he was dead and they were severely wounded, they had no choice but to surrender to William and return to the Ocean Guild. After all, if they wanted to survive, they could only wait for William to send someone to treat them.
In order to restore the strength of the Ocean Guild, William invited Beauvoir and Zeke, the guildmaster of the Iron Fist Guild, to join the Ocean Guild. This way, two more Grandmasters joined the Ocean Guild's ranks.
William also had some talented individuals train in the Ocean Guild. He accelerated their training process and effectively cultivated talent within the guild.
Both Beauvoir and Zeke were more than happy to stay in the Ocean Guild, as they found the mountaintop to be beneficial for their training.
Everything was proceeding smoothly.
The warm light of the setting sun bathed the mountaintop, giving the Ocean Guild a golden hue.
William and Michelle sat together on a cliff, enjoying the beautiful scenery.
"William, do you plan to stay at Ocean Guild?" Michelle leaned her head on William's shoulder, savoring this moment of tranquility.
Although she didn't know what the Ocean Guild was, she had a faint feeling that William wouldn't leave this place.
"Yeah. This place is good." William nodded.
On this day a year ago, he was a poor man without money or influence. His ex-girlfriend had left him because he couldn't afford to buy a house. Yet now he stood at the pinnacle of Long Island, his own strength breaking through to the Silver Level.
With his current level of strength, he could easily be on par with the top five families in the country.
"This place is definitely good. Not only is the environment beautiful, but it's also free from worldly troubles. I want to live here too." Michelle held William's arm, her face full of longing.
"Yeah, then we'll live here in the future." After this incident, William couldn't bear to let Michelle go back to the city. If someone else wanted to frame him, Michelle would be easily caught again.
"Are you saying we can live together from now on?" Michelle suddenly turned her head, her face filled with joy and tinged with a blush.
"What if your mom finds out we're living together? Will she come over with a kitchen knife to kill me?" William joked.
"She wouldn't dare do anything to you!" Michelle retorted, pretending to be angry.
"If we live together, aren't you afraid I'll eat you?" William said with a smile.
"You wouldn't dare!" Michelle replied teasingly.
"Let's see if I dare or not," William said. Then he hugged Michelle and kissed her on the lips.
Michelle, nestled in William's arms, responded with timidity.
However, in the middle of their affectionate moment, Sharon suddenly ran over and reported, "Mr. Brown, someone claiming to be Eliza's family wants to take her away."
As Sharon spoke, she didn't dare to raise her head, maintaining proper decorum.
Michelle pushed William away and covered her face shyly. She was unable to look at Sharon!
William, on the other hand, didn't mind. He had already sensed Sharon's arrival. But when Eliza was mentioned, William's expression turned serious.
"What is their name and background?" William suddenly remembered the fortune teller's prediction that someone would soon come looking for Eliza.
"They claim to be the Hughes family from Canada. They say Eliza is their niece, and they want to take her away," Sharon replied truthfully.
"But they are ranked second on the family rankings." William knew quite a bit about the prominent families in the country. He currently controlled Ocean Guild, one of the top intelligence organizations in the country, so he naturally knew about these families.
"It seems so!" Sharon nodded.
"Alright, I understand. I will meet them tomorrow." William recalled the parting words of the fortuneteller, who had mentioned that Eliza would soon bring them trouble. It seemed that the time had come.
After Sharon left, William returned to the lobby of Ocean Guild and immediately called in Jewel, the new leader of The Sky. Jewel was a young man in his early thirties with a calm demeanor, sharp thinking, and impressive talent. After some more time, he would be able to break through to the level of a grandmaster.
"Jewel, help me organize the information on the Hughes family from Canada. I need it right away." If he was going to meet them, it was important for him to know everything about their family. Luckily, Ocean Guild possessed endless information on the major families in the country.
"Yes, master. I will organize it for you right away," Jewel replied before heading downstairs.
Half an hour later, Jewel had finished organizing the information and handed it to William.
"Master, there has been turmoil in Canada, and the Hughes family has been greatly affected." Jewel handed over a stack of documents while speaking.
"Please give me a brief overview of the situation with the Hughes family. Also, tell me about a girl named Eliza," William said as he looked through the information.
With Ocean Guild's eyes and ears spread across the country, they naturally had their sources within the Hughes family as well.
"The Hughes family is one of the top three influential families in Canada. However, six months ago, they went through internal turmoil that resulted in significant internal conflicts and the deaths of many people. Eliza went missing during that time. But the Master of the Hughes family had publicly announced that whoever could find his granddaughter Eliza and bring her back would inherit his position as chairman," Jewel explained without concealing anything.
"Really? It seems this Master values his granddaughter quite a lot." William furrowed his brows. If he hadn't known the circumstances, William might have thought that the Master genuinely cared for his granddaughter. However, after the testing with the millennium night pearl, it was evident that Eliza possessed a constitution that was remarkably different from ordinary people.
"He must be aware of Eliza's unique condition. Otherwise, he wouldn't have made such a promise," William thought.
"Are her parents alive?" William asked suddenly.
"Her parents died during that internal conflict," Jewel replied.
William sighed. He felt even more responsible for taking care of this little girl.
"I understand. Keep a close eye on the Hughes family and report back to me immediately if there's any news," William said. He dismissed Jewel and then carefully examined the information he had received about the Hughes family.
When he reached the end, William's eyes suddenly lit up.
"The Hughes family has a secret! No wonder they want to retrieve Eliza."
