Chapter 235 A Phone Call Forces the Enemy to Retreat
Pablo's face turned pale as he heard Ralph's warning through the phone.
Ralph was an influential figure in Long Island, someone Pablo, a small-time player in the underworld, wouldn't dare to offend. His expression changed instantly, and his gaze at William also shifted.
"What's this person's identity? He made Ralph personally call me to protect him?" After hanging up the phone, Pablo still couldn't recover from his shock, and his face didn't look good.
Pablo glanced discreetly at William.
"He is wearing a shabby outfit. Undoubtedly, he is poor. But how did this poor man manage to get Ralph to protect him? It's really hard to figure out," Pablo thought to himself.
"Let's retreat!" Pablo saw Ralph protecting the man and knew he couldn't do anything to him today. If he offended Ralph, his body would probably be found on the street tomorrow.
"Aren't we going to take care of that guy? The woman is still in the secret room," one of his subordinates, unaware of the situation, asked.
Seeing that the guy was about to be surrounded, it would be a waste to give up now. It would be a step backward, undermining their efforts.
"What do you know?" Pablo glared at him fiercely and coldly replied, "Retreat and consider our next move."
The subordinates didn't react immediately, but seeing Pablo retreat, they didn't dare to defy his orders. They all withdrew as well.
With most of the thugs in the private room gone, William finally relaxed. He then released Salvador, who was under his foot, but didn't return the knife to him.
"Get lost!" William kicked him.
Struggling to get up from the ground, Salvador fled hastily. He felt both relieved and puzzled. Why did Pablo retreat like that?
Soon, the large private room was empty, and Michelle approached William anxiously.
"William, are you okay? Did they hurt you?" Michelle asked worriedly, her eyes full of concern.
"I'm fine, really. These small-time thugs couldn't do anything to me." William smiled to reassure her. He then went to the door of the secret room.
"Pablo's men have left. You can come out now," William said calmly.
In the secret room, the woman in black was still holding Julia captive. When she heard William saying that Pablo's men had left, she couldn't believe it. How could this poor guy from the slums defeat Pablo and his hundred men?
"Are you trying to trick me to go out and die?" The woman in black asked coldly.
"Let me remind you that your wound is still bleeding. If you don't come out soon, you might die from excessive blood loss," William reminded her kindly.
Julia, who was being held captive in the secret room, suddenly spoke with a trembling voice, "Why don't we go out and take a look!"
The woman in black hesitated for a moment, but her wound kept bleeding. If she didn't find a way to stop the bleeding soon, she might lose too much blood. Moreover, she was starting to feel dizzy.
"Fine, I'll trust you for now," the woman in black said reluctantly.
Believing William's words and noticing the silence outside, the woman in black opened the secret room door slightly and peeked through the crack. Indeed, there was nobody outside.
The black-clad woman could hardly believe it. She pushed the door open and coerced Julia to come out of the secret room.
"How about that? Do you believe me now?" William asked calmly, seeing that she finally came out.
"How did you do it? Pablo had over a hundred people with him," the black-clad woman said while releasing her grip on Julia. There was no need to coerce her anymore.
However, due to excessive blood loss, she felt dizzy and her lips turned pale.
Julia, now free, finally breathed a sigh of relief. Michelle quickly went over and hugged her, looking concerned.
"Julia, are you okay? Did she harm you?"
"Michelle, I was so scared just now. I thought I was going to die in there." Julia was on the verge of tears. Being locked inside, she thought she was done for, especially when her friends abandoned her and only thought of saving themselves. It was truly devastating.
Fortunately, William stood up for her. This made the black-clad woman give up on the idea of killing Julia. That was how Julia narrowly escaped a disaster, but she was deeply frightened.
"It's all right now, don't cry. The situation outside was even scarier. I was almost surrounded by them." Michelle's face was also pale. The memory of being surrounded by over a hundred people was still haunting her.
Hearing this, Julia remembered to thank William. After all, he risked his life to save her. With uncertain steps, she came up to him and thanked him sincerely.
"William, thank you."
If it weren't for him standing up for her at the last moment, she would have been a dead body by now.
"Don't thank me. If it weren't for Michelle, I wouldn't have bothered to save you." William didn't lie to her. He did save Julia because of Michelle. Otherwise, he would have followed Christopher and the others.
"But I still want to thank you. I want to invite you to have dinner at my house tomorrow." Julia, nonetheless, was very grateful to William.
This incident also made Julia realize who her true friends were. Her bond with Michelle grew stronger, and she began to see William differently. She would no longer judge people solely based on appearances.
"We should go back now. Otherwise, your parents will worry." William was planning to go back, but the black-clad woman suddenly fainted. She had lost too much blood and passed out.
"William, she fainted. Should we help her? If we don't, she might die," Michelle said softly.
"It's really troublesome." William approached the woman, crouched down, and examined her wounds. There were four or five of them, and the one on her chest was the deepest, with blood flowing ceaselessly from it.
"The wounds are deep. She needs to go to the hospital!" William frowned, intending to carry her there, but she stopped him weakly.
"Don't take me to the hospital, or I'll surely die," the woman said before losing consciousness.
William seemed to realize something. If she couldn't go to the hospital, he had to stop the bleeding on the spot.
Immediately, William rang the service bell in the private room and called for the manager of MA club, asking him to bring bandages, disinfectants, and hemostatic medicine.
After receiving these items, William used a small knife to cut open the woman's clothes around her wounds. With the help of Michelle and Julia, he disinfected and medicated her wounds.
Michelle and Julia took care of the final bandaging, and everything was completed by the late night.
"William, her body is burning. She seems to have a fever. What should we do?" Michelle panicked when she noticed the woman's high temperature while bandaging her wounds.
William thought for a moment. In this situation, they could only call a doctor to save her. Otherwise, she could die at any moment.
He said to Julia and Michelle, "Let me handle her. It's late already, you two should go back. Otherwise, your parents will worry."
"Are you sure you can handle it? Her life is in danger," Michelle said worriedly.
"It's fine, I have my own way." William nodded.
Julia and Michelle quickly drove back home, while William carried the woman and had the manager of MA club drive him to the residence arranged by Ralph, Garden Villa. At the same time, he asked the manager to call a doctor and prepare medications for the person in need of treatment.
