Chapter 314 Letting You Know What It Means for Someone to Be Extraordinary
Inside of Horn Villa's hall; William and Beauvoir were leisurely drinking tea and playing a game of Go in order to pass the time.
William was new to Go and had a low skill level, while Beauvoir's Go ability far exceeded his own. According to him, Beauvoir used to be a national Go player, and even won world championships.
With Beauvoir no longer able to guide William in terms of skill, they could only showcase his value through this leisurely game of Go.
"You lost again," Beauvoir joyfully exclaimed, taking a sip of tea.
"Let's play again, I refuse to believe it!" Although William had just started learning Go, he suddenly found himself interested in it. Beauvoir was more than willing to teach him, and William was eager to learn.
"Go is all about controlling the overall situation," Beauvoir explained.
"Mhm, I'll remember that!" William nodded.
Just as the two were about to continue their game, a security guard rushed in.
"Mr. Brown, two individuals are here outside claiming to be here for a hostage exchange."
"Bring them in," William calmly responded, as he was waiting for Soren.
Shortly, Soren and Zeke entered the room, with Soren holding an exquisite box in his hands.
But Zeke remained calm and composed, completely disregarding the surrounding security personnel, appearing confident and superior.
"Are you the one who kidnapped my son?" Soren showed no fear on enemy territory. On the contrary, his tone was somewhat assertive, as if he had something to rely on.
"Your son lost at dice and tried to deny it, so I had no choice but to take him hostage," William said calmly, his gaze involuntarily turning towards Zeke. He felt that this man's aura was steady, his gaze resolute, and he seemed to be someone out of the ordinary, causing William to take a closer look.
"You set him up, didn't you? Do you think I'm a fool?" Soren raised his voice in defense.
"Who said I set him up? And besides, Callum cheated in the casino, but I haven't confronted him yet," William retorted without any reservations, a slight smile playing at the corner of his mouth.
"How did you see my son cheating with your own eyes?" Soren clearly resorted to baseless arguments.
"And how did you see me setting him up with your own eyes?" William calmly replied, leaving him speechless with nothing to say.
"Bastard. Since that's the case, are you willing to gamble with me?" Soren had made his fortune at the gambling den, so he naturally had confidence in gambling.
"Before we gamble, I'd like to see if you've brought the Night Pearl," William didn't want to waste time; he only saw gambling as a means to acquire the Thousand-Year Night Pearl.
"Of course I've brought it. Take a good look." Soren opened the box in his hand, revealing the translucent Night Pearl inside. What's more, this Night Pearl faintly emitted a radiant light during the day, seemingly competing with the sun and moon.
"What an extraordinary Thousand-Year Night Pearl. No wonder the fortune-teller was so eager to obtain it," William thought to himself and then said to Soren with a serious expression.
"What do you want to gamble on?"
William was cautious with his words. After all, Soren was an experienced gambler, and if he proposed something William wasn't familiar with, he would surely lose miserably.
"A boxing match. I heard that you single-handedly took on thirty subordinates in my gambling den and even crippled Sterling's arm. It must mean that you are extremely powerful," Soren said provocatively after closing the box containing the Night Pearl.
"It's not that I'm powerful, it's that the people you employ are useless! As for the boxing match, I accept. How will we determine the winner?" William's lips curled up slightly, leaving room for caution. Since Soren wanted to challenge him to a boxing match, he must have come prepared, and William couldn't afford to underestimate him.
"I have a powerhouse by my side who will fight in my place. If you defeat him, the Night Pearl will be yours. But if you lose, you have to release my son, and the gambling debt he owes you will be cancelled. How does that sound?" Soren's plan was well thought out.
William was no fool. He could see through Soren's intentions clearly. Boxing match was acceptable, but this arrangement...
The wager must be adjusted, otherwise, he will suffer a great loss.
"You're being unfair to me! I win against your expert companion, and I want the Night Pearl. Additionally, the Bell family's casino will belong to me. What do you say?" William thought about taking over the most profitable casino first, using this opportunity to weaken their influence in the South district.
"You bastard, you actually want to take our casino?" Soren's face twitched slightly. This casino was their most profitable industry, and if they lost it, their earning capacity would be halved.
"How about it? Do you still want to gamble?" William smirked. With the upper hand now in his grasp, he naturally wanted to gain a little more advantage.
Soren glanced at Zeke beside him and saw him nod, giving Soren some reassurance.
"You bastard, I'll gamble with you. If you win, the Night Pearl and the casino are yours. If you lose, release my son." Soren said loudly.
"No problem," William said, taking a step forward. However, his gaze fell on Zeke, who gave off an aura of unfathomable depth.
"You bastard, don't regret it if you lose," Soren sneered and then took a few steps back, leaving the battlefield to Zeke.
Zeke looked William up and down. Seeing that he appeared to be only in his twenties, Zeke was filled with confidence.
In his opinion, even if William was a genius, it would be impossible for someone of this age to be his match.
Moreover, Zeke had reached the level of Master, and there had been no opponents for over ten years in the South district. This made him look down on everyone, completely disregarding William.
"I'll give you three moves. Otherwise, it would be unfair for me to take advantage of you." Zeke said confidently and proudly.
"Oh? You're going to give me three moves? Then I won't be polite." William smiled. Zeke was underestimating him too much.
