Chapter 298 Will There Really Be A Bloody Encounter?
After returning from the food court, Sophia deliberately kept her distance from William, and their relationship became somewhat awkward.
The next morning, while everyone was having breakfast, Kylie suddenly received a message that made her excited.
"Sophia, there's a WE ARE Chamber's reception tomorrow, and I heard Mr. Brown will be there. Should we go and take a look?"
"Mr. Brown?" Sophia furrowed her brows, her face filled with confusion.
"It's your fiancé, Mr. Brown. You have never met him before. Now is a great opportunity for us to see him." As Kylie was speaking, Sophia interrupted her and coughed a few times to remind her not to continue.
"Why are you coughing? Did you catch a cold?" Kylie didn't understand, but William couldn't control his laughter.
"So, Sophia, you have never met your fiancé!" William said teasingly.
"None of your business! Anyway, I know he's better than you in every way." Sophia pouted and then turned to Kylie. "Get someone to send an invitation, I want to go."
"Well, I also want to see what Mr. Brown looks like. He's going to be my niece's husband, the heir groomed by a top-tier family. He must exude extraordinary charm. Just the thought of it makes me feel excited." Kylie was full of anticipation and excitement.
"But what if reality isn't as perfect as you imagine?" William couldn't help but interject.
"Sorry, but poverty has limited your imagination!" Kylie interrupted him.
William was speechless. He had been honest with them, but no one believed him. There was nothing he could do about it.
However, for tomorrow's party, William indeed had to attend again as Mr. Brown. Antony had already told him that in order to increase WE ARE Chamber's reputation in Long Island, he had to be the face of it, so William agreed.
The news had been released a week ago to attract prominent figures from corporate groups all over Long Island. It wasn't surprising that Kylie received this information. Moreover, with Sophia's status, it was simple to obtain an invitation. That night, Kylie had someone get her an invitation.
The next morning, William, along with Sophia and Kylie, drove to the business event in the company car. Fiona seemed to be hurt by the incident with the land auction and didn't want to see Mr. Brown.
William didn't mind and invited Sharon and Baca as accompanying guards. When he would go on stage as Mr. Brown, Sophia would be in danger without his protection, so he sent these two to protect her. It should be relatively safe.
The scope of this WE ARE Chamber's event was quite large. It was held at Willow Villa in the South district, one of the properties owned by the Sullivan family.
Willow Villa was usually a leisure vacation spot with a large area. Inside, there was a sizable artificial lake where numerous precious fish were bred for fishing when important figures came to relax. In this first-tier city, it was definitely beneficial to relax and expand connections by fishing here.
By the time William and the others arrived, there were already many people outside Willow Villa. Various influential figures from wealthy families were constantly arriving, although most of them were the East district's corporate leaders.
After all, Antony was now the market leader in the East district, and if they didn't join WE ARE Chamber, they would have no way forward.
When William got out, his eyelid suddenly started twitching, which made him feel uneasy.
"This intense twitching... Could something happen today?" William suddenly remembered what the fortune-teller had told him a few days ago, that he would encounter bloodshed soon.
"Could it be today?" William furrowed his brow but quickly dismissed the thought. With so many security guards from the Sullivan family at Willow Villa and with Baca and Sharon here, he had the strength to handle any situation.
How is it possible to see blood?
"After all, how true can a scammer's words be?"
In the end, William didn't take the words of the fortune teller seriously. However, he kept that dark brown pill close to him at all times.
"There are so many people here. Mr. Brown is really amazing! He was able to invite so many important figures to the party!" Kylie glanced at the crowd with astonishment in her eyes.
Then she glanced at William, who was wearing cheap clothes, and a trace of disdain flashed in her eyes. Compared to her nephew-in-law, William was completely different.
"Let's go in! Don't just stand here," William said anxiously. He had never felt like this before.
After presenting their invitation, the group entered quickly. However, everyone had to register with their real names and show their identification cards. There were also many security guards in the estate, indicating that Ralph and Antony had done a good job in ensuring his safety.
"Sophia, have you heard anything about Mr. Brown's appearance? I've never heard any news about him," Kylie said while walking inside.
Sophia seemed preoccupied, showing no signs of the expected excitement and anticipation of seeing her fiancé.
"Sophia, what's wrong with you? I called you and you didn't respond." Kylie poked Sophia's arm, and she finally reacted.
"What's the matter?" Sophia glanced at William, feeling absent-minded.
"What's bothering you today? You seem troubled," Kylie asked with concern. "You'll meet your fiancé soon, shouldn't you be happy?"
"Well, of course I am." Sophia nodded, forcing a smile. In fact, the person she wanted to be with was William, but society was too realistic, and being with William was impossible.
The party was being held in an outdoor garden-style venue. The weather was good today, perfect for an outdoor gathering. There were waiters grilling food and mixing drinks and a dedicated band performing live music.
"Ralph and Antony have done a good job." William looked around and casually grabbed a plate of freshly grilled fish to eat. At the same time, he scanned the surroundings and noticed an interesting phenomenon- many girls had come to the event.
It seemed like they were trying to catch Mr. Brown's attention. After all, Mr. Brown's engagement to Sophia had not been announced publicly, so people outside were still unaware. It was inevitable that some high-profile families would have the desire to climb up the social ladder.
However, William was restless. He felt as if something big was about to happen.
