Chapter 139 I Want To Proudly Marry You And Bring You Home
If Katharine didn't become the chairman, the happiest ones would be her two sisters, especially Hannah.
Previously, she had hindered Katharine from signing the contract, so it was highly likely that this construction site incident was orchestrated by Hannah. However, without catching Bund, there was no evidence against Hannah!
"It seems we have to plan for the long term." William sighed and lowered his head to glance at Michelle, who had fallen asleep in his arms. She breathed calmly, her chest rising and falling rhythmically.
"I told you that you shouldn't drink, but you still insisted!" William couldn't help but chuckle. He then carried Michelle on his side and walked toward her room.
However, when William's arm touched Michelle's smooth and delicate skin, an indescribable affection welled up in his heart.
It was William's first time entering Michelle's room. Everything inside was neat and tidy. Even the cosmetics on the vanity table were arranged neatly. Her European-style princess bed was also quite soft.
After laying Michelle on the bed, William took a few more glances at her enchanting figure. He had to admit that Michelle was truly beautiful, especially considering that she was only wrapped in a white towel, exposing most of her body to William's eyes, which was quite tempting.
"Get a good night's sleep! We still have to go to the hotel construction site tomorrow," William said, not wanting to disturb Michelle any further. After covering her with a blanket, he tiptoed out of the room.
After closing the door, William took a deep breath and finally regained his composure.
"If only I didn't have the engagement with Sophia!" William sighed. If it wasn't for the engagement with Sophia, William wouldn't have any burdens in his heart, and he might have pursued Michelle without any hesitation.
Without becoming a super-rich heir, he couldn't protect Michelle. As a poor man, he was simply unworthy of Michelle, who was like a national treasure.
Even if they were deeply in love, they would ultimately succumb to reality, just like Madison. Furthermore, Michelle's parents would never let her marry a poor man like William.
And if he did become a super-rich heir, he would have to accept his parents' arrangement, marry his fiancée, Sophia, and let go of Michelle.
As for whether he and Michelle would have a future together, William could only accumulate his own strength step by step. He had to reach a point where he no longer needed the support of his parents and grandfather, where he could face the revenge of the Smith family without fear.
Only then would he have his own power to determine his fate with Michelle.
William fell asleep on the couch and slept soundly throughout the night. Perhaps it was because he slept late, as he didn't wake up until after 8 o'clock the next day.
As soon as he opened his eyes, he smelled the rich aroma of food. Sitting up, he saw Michelle, wearing a pink camisole pajama, bringing breakfast from the kitchen. Seeing William awake, her face lit up as she said, "William, you're awake! Come and have breakfast. I just finished cooking."
"What time is it?" William still had to go to the hotel construction site today. He couldn't be late!
"It's slightly past 8 o'clock. You still have plenty of time! I made waffles, vegetable salad, and bacon chicken sandwiches. They're all your favorites. Go freshen up first, you can use my towel," Michelle spoke thoughtfully, considering William's needs.
Seeing Michelle in her domesticated appearance, William felt a sense of reassurance in his heart. This was the kind of woman he wanted to marry, not a star who only knew how to sing but couldn't even cook.
After freshening up, William sat down at the dining table. As expected, they were all his favorite foods. Clearly, Michelle remembered what he liked to eat.
"William, you didn't do anything to me last night, did you?" Michelle gazed at William with her eyes wide open.
After taking a sip of milk, he understood the meaning behind Michelle's words. He then gave a serious response, "I want to marry you properly. I don't want your mom to think I took you away by force."
He said this not only for Michelle to hear but also to remind himself. He couldn't let go of such a lovely girl. He had to marry her properly.
Michelle didn't expect William's answer to be like this. She was slightly surprised and touched. Moreover, this was the first time Michelle heard William say he wanted to marry her. Her eyes began to well up with a touch of pink, showing her emotions.
"You want to marry me, but I may not necessarily marry you!" Michelle said tearfully. Her inherent reserve as a girl made her feel shy.
"If you don't marry me, then I'll have to marry someone else!" William teasingly replied with a smile at the corner of his mouth.
"How dare you!" Michelle pouted, her eyes still brimming with tears.
"Why are you crying? Eat your sandwich." William took a tissue and wiped away the tears that overflowed from Michelle's eyes.
After eating for a while, Michelle's mood gradually stabilized. When she looked at William, her eyes showed even more affection, and she couldn't help but start fantasizing about their future.
After finishing breakfast, William drove Michelle straight to the construction site of the new hotel in the East District. This was a project that Wilson's Hotel was currently promoting with all its resources. They planned to build it into the most modern and luxurious hotel in New York.
However, as soon as they arrived at the construction site, they saw a group of workers surrounding Samuel and shouting loudly.
"Something's wrong!" William spotted the scene from afar, and his heart tightened.
"What should we do? There are so many of them." Michelle felt nervous and scared upon seeing the gathered workers.
"You stay in the car, I'll go and take a look!" William instructed Michelle. However, Michelle couldn't trust William and got out of the car, following him.
At this moment, William had no time to spare for her because many of the workers were holding shovels, wrenches, and other tools while looking very angry.
"Samuel, what's going on?" William asked as he approached.
"Mr. Brown, you finally came. Construction manager Walter ran away with the money. These workers haven't received their pay for three months, and now they've come to demand their money from us." Samuel wiped the sweat off his forehead and explained anxiously and angrily.
Samuel had been waiting here for William, but he never expected to encounter this situation.
"Walter ran away?" William frowned. This was a big issue. Without the construction manager, how could the hotel continue to be built? What made it even more despicable was that Walter had fled after making a donation.
"Yes, I suspect Bence bribed Walter last night, which led him to make the donation and escape, trying to cause trouble for us."
Samuel and William were on the same page. Only Bence would make things difficult for them like this.
He knew that Wilson's Hotel had invested a huge sum of money in this construction site. As long as they delayed the progress of this hotel's construction, Wilson's Hotel would be dragged down.
Eventually, the project would fail, potentially leading to bankruptcy and closure of the company. This was Bence's sinister end goal.
"First, let's cover the workers' wages. As for the escaping construction manager, I'll figure something out." William's gaze turned cold. Anyone who dared to withhold workers' wages and oppose Wilson's Hotel must be captured.
"Mr. Brown, should we cover all the three months' worth of wages? This will greatly impact our company's cash flow. We had already paid the previous amount to Walter." Samuel understood the company's financial situation.
"Don't waste time talking. Just get the money for me, no matter how much it is," William said. Then he asked for some basic information about Walter once again and requested a photo and a photocopy of his ID.
Luckily, these documents were available since they had awarded him the construction contract.
