Chapter 102 The Bond of Eternity

Magnus clenched his diary, his fingertips turning pale from the force.

Every word from Juniper felt like a blow to his heart.

He felt as if his heart was being crushed, the pain making it hard to breathe.

He wasn't by her side for these past six years.

She was a single mother, taken advantage of by her boss, and suffering from depression.

But what made Magnus even more saddened was that these were just snippets recorded in her diary.

There was so much more, so many untold sorrows.

He couldn't bear to imagine how difficult and painful her life had been.

He held onto the diary, but didn't have the courage to continue reading.

Her words felt like sharp blades, constantly torturing him.

She kept apologizing, feeling guilty, saying sorry to him over and over again.

But now, these apologies felt like knives, cutting into his flesh, directly stabbing at the softest part of his chest.

His phone rang.

The caller ID showed it was a landline from S City.

Magnus had a good memory and never forgot things.
The landline number in S City was the phone number of the hospital in S City. A month ago, he had made a phone call to them.

But before the other party could finish speaking, he hung up.

At that time, he still resented Juniper and didn't want to care about anything concerning her.

He pressed the answer button.

"Is this Juniper's family? Last time when I called, you hung up, but Juniper's lung problem is quite serious, and we still suggest going to the hospital for further examination and treatment. Does her family know about her lung cancer?"

Magnus' thin lips opened, but his throat was as if it was blocked by cotton, unable to make any sound.

"Hello, are you there?"

There was no answer on the phone.

But after a few seconds, she heard laughter.

But it wasn't a joyful laughter, it was obviously a laughter mixed with crying. Extremely mournful.

His emotions seemed to be out of control.

Has Juniper already passed away?

Then, the other party hung up.

The small bottle in Magnus' hand suddenly rolled onto the floor.

His tears fell onto the diary, big drops after big drops.

Blurring the words.

He quickly wiped it with his hand, but it seemed like no matter how he wiped, he couldn't wipe it off.

Those words seemed to disappear along with Juniper.

He didn't know how he turned to the end of the diary.

Seeing the end, his heart felt like it had been stabbed with a big hole, bleeding profusely.

"Jennifer and Ophelia helped me celebrate my birthday and made me make a wish. I made three wishes."

"I hope Magnus can let go of his hatred and start again."

"When I earn enough money, I want to take my mom and Jennifer away from Imperial Capital, to a place far away where no one knows us, and then we can be together forever."

"I hope Magnus can have a safe and happy life, and that the rest of his life goes smoothly."

Three wishes, two of them were about him.

But she crossed out the first wish, and crossed out the second wish.

In her remaining life, how desperate must she have been to cross out the only three wishes she had?

Magnus picked up a pen, his fingers trembling slightly.

He wiped off the crosses she drew, and placed a big tick on her first wish.

He put it down, he no longer hated her.

But to start again, who should he start with?

He had thought about starting again, but in the life where he starts over, he had never thought it would be with someone else.

If it wasn't Juniper, he would rather not start again.

Late at night, past ten o'clock.

Magnus returned to Royal View.

He carried a package in his hand, filled with Juniper's belongings.
He didn't know how he left the place where she lived. On the way back in the car, he felt completely numb.

When he entered the house, Potato ran over.

"Meow."

Jennifer was still awake. She walked up to him in her pajamas, rubbing her eyes.

"Daddy, where's mommy? Did you successfully propose to her?"

Magnus looked down at her, his expression extremely calm.

Not until Jennifer reached out and held his big hand did he crouch down and meet her gaze.

The man's cold, pale Adam's apple rolled and he swallowed several times before managing to speak.

His voice was extremely hoarse. "Your mother isn't quite able to accept me yet."

Jennifer raised her small hand and gently touched Magnus's head. "Daddy, don't be sad. When I see mommy next time, I'll speak more good words for you. Mommy has a soft heart and will agree to you. She still likes you, Daddy. Please don't lose hope."

Magnus just looked at her.

This face, a mini version of Juniper's.

His eyes finally turned slightly red at the corners. He endured for several seconds before saying a single word, "Okay."

"Daddy, why are you crying?"

"I'm not. It was just the wind."

"Oh, okay. Daddy, I want to go to sleep. Can I bring Potato up and sleep with me?"

"Sure."

Jennifer picked up the chubby Potato and said to Magnus, "Good night, Daddy."

"Good night."

Magnus stood in the living room, watching Jennifer carry Potato upstairs.

He slumped onto the sofa.

In the night, only a small nightlight was lit in the villa.

The living room was dim.

He opened the small black velvet box, and the brilliance of the pink diamond hurt his eyes.

This diamond ring was the work of renowned designer Orlando and was named "Eternal Bond."

Its design concept was that two lovers would forever be bound to each other, forever imprisoning each other by their sides, for all eternity.

But Juniper would never have the chance to wear it again.

Magnus's hand fell, his fingers loosened, and the ring fell to the ground, making a crisp impact sound.

He leaned back on the sofa, sinking into endless silence and desolation.

He sat there with his eyes closed, not knowing how long he had been leaning.

Jennifer, holding Patrick Star, descended the stairs in dazed confusion.

She walked up to Magnus and tugged on his arm. "Daddy, why are you sleeping here?"

"How did you wake up?"

She blinked her big eyes and helplessly said, "I had a nightmare and couldn't sleep. Even Potato fell asleep."

Magnus lifted her onto his lap.

He looked at the child with a very gentle gaze. "What nightmare did you have? Tell Daddy."

"I dreamed that mom didn't want us anymore, and I chased after her, but she didn't look back. Dad, you say she wouldn't really not want us, right?"

Magnus's eyes dimmed, and he forced a smile, "How could she, she couldn't bear it." Jennifer's eyes were sharp, and she saw the ring fall to the ground.

She got off Magnus's lap and picked up the pink diamond, "Dad, how could you drop the ring you gave to mom on the ground, you're too careless! Quickly put it away!"

Jennifer pulled open his big hand and placed the ring in his palm.

The little girl muttered, "Next time, mom will wear it, what will you use to propose if you lose it, huh?"

Magnus lowered his gaze and looked at the ring, quietly lying in his palm. His heart was torn, in pain.

Jennifer asked again, "Dad, you're sitting here, but you can't sleep either?"

"Hmm, a little insomnia." Jennifer handed him her Patrick Star plush toy and said, "Then I'll lend you this, mom gave it to me, you can sleep holding it."

"What about you?"
"I can sleep holding Mr. Potato."
"Jennifer."
"Hmm? What's wrong?" He swallowed his words as they reached his lips and said, "Nothing, in a while, I will propose to your mom."

"I believe in you dad! When you propose to mom, our family of three will be complete! From now on, both of you have to attend my parents' meetings together!"
