Chapter 331 She Even Dare to Threaten Him Now

In the Windsor Group building.

After Juniper got familiar with various departments and leaders, Karen tossed her an employee badge.

"Be my assistant. One-month probation. If you can't handle it, you're out."

Juniper took the badge and suddenly asked, "What's the salary during the probation period?"

Karen's brow twitched, as if she had heard a joke. "What did you say?"

She asked again, "I asked, what's the salary during the probation period?"

Karen gave her a once-over, a hint of amusement flashing in her eyes, and said lightly, "The probation salary is five thousand dollars. However, for any deals you help me close, I'll inform the finance department, and you'll get a 2% commission."

She paused and added, "You did well on the deal with Real Estate last night. The commission and bonus will be paid on next month's payday."

Juniper nodded, "Thank you."

A trace of appreciation flashed in Karen's eyes, very faint and quickly concealed.

She cleared her throat and mocked, "No need to thank me. This is just the beginning. Windsor Group is built on manufacturing industry, very different from the flashy capital markets outside. The group's veterans are all practical people. If you want their support, you need to show some real skills and prove you're not just a pretty face."

"But if you're just here to play around, or because you're having a spat with Mr. Blackwood and plan to go back to Imperial Capital once you make up, I advise you to leave now and be Mrs. Blackwood. Being a pampered wife isn't shameful; having someone to spoil you and unlimited credit cards isn't a bad deal. Besides, isn't he quite devoted to you?"

These words were not pleasant, full of sarcasm.

Juniper didn't want to make any harsh statements to prove anything, she just calmly explained, "I'm not here to play around, but thank you for the reminder and advice, Ms. Abbott."

"I didn't advise you."

With that, Karen walked briskly to her office, her high heels clicking crisply on the marble floor.

Juniper watched her back and followed, "Where's my workstation?"

"Right outside my office."

Juniper sat down at her workstation.

It was backed by floor-to-ceiling windows, with golden morning light streaming in, offering a broad and quiet view, an excellent spot.

Karen threw over a few contracts, "Take these to the legal department for review. By the way, I have a business trip to Skyville next week. Are you available?"

Juniper replied without thinking, "Yes."

Karen looked at her with some skepticism, "Are you sure you won't be going back to Imperial Capital with that gentleman next week? Do you need to go back and discuss it?"

Juniper took a deep breath, exasperated, "Ms. Abbott, I'm independent. I don't need to report my travel plans to anyone."

Just then, Karen's phone rang.

After the call, she glanced at Juniper and said, "We have a partner coming to renew a contract this afternoon. Will you join me in hosting them?"

Karen's tone was odd, with a hint of excitement and slyness in her eyes.

Juniper, sensitive to emotions, felt that Karen was up to something.

She looked at her strangely and asked, "Which partner? What contract are we renewing? Do I need to prepare any materials?"

"No need, just follow me to the large conference room on the eighth floor this afternoon."

Juniper responded, "Okay."

She was about to take the contracts to the legal department when Karen called her back.

"Quinn, you look a bit pale. Remember to put on some blush and lipstick; it'll make you look more spirited."

She had left in a hurry this morning and hadn't put on any makeup, her face bare.

Juniper thought it was because they were meeting an important client and needed to pay attention to her appearance, so she nodded, "Oh, okay."

Meanwhile, at Christopher's Mansion.

Christopher was playing white, Magnus black.

After a fierce battle.

The black pieces were on the run, and the white pieces were in hot pursuit.

Christopher kindly reminded, "You're at a dead end. If you keep running, you'll only lose more."

Magnus, holding a black piece between his long, pale fingers, placed it down, "Compared to you, my vision is narrow. I only seek safety in one corner."

Christopher smiled deeply, "Sacrificing an entire area to protect one piece, you're doing the impossible!"

As the white piece landed.

A large swath of black pieces was captured by the white.

But in the eastern corner, the black pieces were thriving, showing no signs of defeat.

They maneuvered around each other for a long time.

The white pieces could never take the eastern corner of black pieces.

The game was at a stalemate, hard to determine a winner.

Christopher advised, "Abandon this piece, and the situation will change immediately. I advise you not to be too stubborn."

Magnus placed another piece, still escaping through the cracks, "I'm different from you. I set up the whole game for this piece. If I abandon it, then it would be a total loss."

Christopher glanced at him with deep eyes, indifferent, "Is it worth it?"

"Whether it's worth it or not, others can't say. If I think it's worth it, then it is."

Christopher's gaze swept over Magnus sitting opposite, his brow twitching slightly, "You mean... at all costs?"

"Yes, at all costs."

Hearing this, Christopher was taken aback, then chuckled, "The more you want to protect this piece, the less I want to let you succeed. Young man, your motives are too obvious."

Caught in the stalemate.

Jenny came running down from upstairs in her slippers.

She had just woken up and, seeing Magnus in the living room, rubbed her sleepy eyes in disbelief, "Daddy!"

She ran over and jumped into Magnus's arms, scattering the game pieces.

Magnus frowned slightly, about to scold.

Christopher waved his hand, "It's okay. Go is about the process of the game, not the outcome."

Jenny pouted, "Grandpa is the best. Daddy, you scold me as soon as you come. If you keep this up, I won't want to go back to Imperial Capital."

Magnus was stunned.

After staying in Southern City for a while, Jenny even dared to threaten him.

Southern City really nurtured temperaments.

Christopher laughed heartily, "Jenny, come to Grandpa. Tell me, what do you want for breakfast?"

Jenny ran to Christopher's arms, "I want a chicken sandwich!"

Southern City was famous for its rich, delicious, and juicy chicken sandwiches, a local specialty.

After trying it, Jenny couldn't forget it.

The sandwiches in Imperial Capital were not good at all.

Christopher asked, "Just sandwichs?"

"Yes!"

"Jerry, send someone to the south of the city to buy some sandwiches, freshly made."

"Okay, it's only a ten-minute drive. Jenny, have something else to tide you over. The sandwiches will be here soon."

Jenny blinked and ran to the dining room, looking at the breakfast on the table, and asked Magnus, "Daddy, have you eaten?"

At least she had some conscience, not completely forgetting her dad.

Magnus walked over, sat next to her, not having much appetite, just watching her eat, "How have you been these past two weeks in Southern City with Mommy?"
