Chapter 292 Sinking into Obsession

Paul whipped out his phone and dialed a number, his eyes locking on Patricia.

"Hey, Mr. Blackwood, I found Patricia. Should I bring her back to the Imperial Capital or handle it here?"

Magnus said something on the other end before ending the call.

Paul nodded to the bodyguard, who then pushed Patricia towards the car after the call.

Patricia's face was soaked from the cold rain, looking pale and shivering. She yelled, "What are you gonna do to me? Let me go!"

Paul frowned at her loud voice, giving her a disdainful look, "You're lucky. Mr. Blackwood wants to question you himself. At least you'll make it through tonight. You'd better consider your final words or get ready to apologize; that way, Mr. Blackwood might be a bit more lenient with you."

Patricia's heart sank.

The next morning.

Southern City, Christopher's Mansion.

Magnus came to say goodbye to Juniper, "Juniper, I gotta head back to the Imperial Capital."

Juniper knew he had stayed for several days, putting off his schedule and work. She had a feeling he'd have to leave soon.

But now that he was actually leaving, she felt a pang of reluctance.

She clutched his coat sleeve. "In a few days, Jenny and I are going to Solara. Will you come to see us off?"

Magnus stroked her hair, thinking it over. Not wanting to disappoint her but also not wanting to lie, he said, "I'm not really sure. If work gets too crazy, I might not be able to make it."

Once back in the Imperial Capital, he had to deal with Patricia.

Work was piling up, and several forces were eyeing SY greedily.

This morning, as soon as the stock market opened, SY's stock was all over the place.

Someone was clearly trying to short SY's stock.

Any bad news could cause major fluctuations.

Juniper knew he was busy but she insisted, "But after Jenny and I go to Solara this time, who knows when we'll be back."

Magnus sighed and pulled her into his arms. Besides hugging her, he didn't know how to make her feel secure.

He couldn't stand seeing Juniper's disappointed eyes, so he comforted her softly, "I'll try my best to come see you off. I'll see if I can rearrange my schedule."

Juniper's throat felt tight and choked up.

She didn't want to make things hard for him, but the feeling of loss was growing in her chest, becoming too strong to ignore.

She rarely asked him for anything, so Magnus couldn't bear to refuse.

Magnus's large hand caressed her face, his thumb gently stroking her cheek. His voice was soothing, "If I can't see you off this time, I'll find time to fly to Solara to see you and Jenny. How about that?"

Juniper looked into his eyes.

His gaze was deep and warm, not just trying to placate her.

Seeing Juniper remain silent, Magnus leaned down slightly and kissed her forehead. The kiss was gentle and affectionate, without any lust.

Juniper believed him again, pursing her lips. "Then, keep your word."

Hearing her say that, Magnus touched the back of her neck, his expression serious. "Okay."

Magnus sighed and added, "Take good care of yourself while I'm not around. Don't always eat junk food for convenience, it's bad for your health. If you want something, ask the servants to make it."

Juniper straightened his coat and shirt collar. "You too. Don't skip meals when you're busy. And cut down on the smoking."

Juniper had lung issues, so he seldom smoked around her. Nonetheless, she could always detect the smell on him.

Magnus nodded, "Okay."

Downstairs, Jerry called out, "Mr. Blackwood, the car's ready. Shall we head to the airport now?"

Magnus pinched her cheek with his long fingers. "I'm off."

As he turned to leave, she grabbed his coat sleeve again.

He looked back.

Juniper was gazing at him with reluctance, her eyes already misty.

She was usually independent and not clingy, but the thought of going so far to Solara made her uneasy.

Tears suddenly streamed down her face, piercing Magnus's heart.

He turned back, raised his hand to wipe away her tears, and pressed his forehead against hers, chuckling hoarsely, "I wish I could take you with me. But if I did that, would you get tired of me quickly?"

Juniper shook her head, clutching his coat with both hands, pulling him down.

Magnus knew too well what she wanted to do with that gesture. He lowered his face to kiss her.

Juniper tilted her head up.

Their lips met.

Magnus's large hand held her back, kissing her deeply.

Seeing them kiss, Jenny, who had just ascended the stairs, gasped and covered her eyes with both hands.

Juniper gently pushed him away, feeling a bit embarrassed to be caught by Jenny, her ears turning slightly red.

Magnus, however, was unfazed.

He looked at Juniper with deep eyes, raised his hand to rub the back of her head, and smiled, "We've kissed. Now can you let me go?"

Could Juniper say no?

She let go. "Travel safe, bye."

Magnus saw her let go, his eyes dimming for a moment, but he quickly returned to normal.

In the end, he couldn't resist kissing her forehead again, still wanting to call her, "Baby, I'm leaving."

Hearing that, Jenny lowered her hands from her eyes.

Thinking Magnus was calling her, Jenny waved her hand and said, "Bye, Daddy!"

Juniper's face warmed, and she couldn't help but laugh.

Magnus walked over to Jenny, instructing, "While I'm away, don't make Mommy angry, okay?"

He looked every bit the stern father.

But Jenny wasn't having it. She spread her arms, pouting, "Daddy's leaving, and you're still being mean to me. Daddy, I want a kiss too."

"Aren't you too old for kisses?"

Jenny pouted, "Mommy's older than me, and you still kiss her."

Magnus didn't know what to do with her.

Juniper laughed, "Just give her a kiss, or she'll make a fuss."

Magnus squatted down, looking at Jenny.

Jenny quickly kissed his cheek, "Daddy! I love you! When Mommy and I aren't around, remember to miss us!"

Perhaps thinking about the future, not knowing when he would hear Jenny's chatter again.

Magnus reached out and hugged her small body. "Be good with Mommy, don't always push your limits."

"Got it, Daddy!" Jenny leaned in, signaling Magnus to kiss her.

Magnus didn't kiss her but pinched her cheek hard. "Stop being naughty."

Jenny yelped, "You're being mean again! Mommy, look at Daddy! He's always bullying me!"

Juniper watched the heartwarming scene, wishing the moment could last forever.

She held Jenny's hand, standing in the yard, watching him leave.

Before getting into the car, Magnus gave her one last deep look, which was enough to make her fall for him for life.

Juniper's eyes stung as she met his intense gaze.
