Chapter 302 Go to Solara to Find Her?
When Magnus woke up, it felt as if his heart had been crushed and then pieced back together. Any slight movement caused him to wince in pain.
Odis pressed down on his shoulder. "Don't move around, just lie down and rest."
Magnus propped himself up against the headboard, his face pale. "Why are you here?"
Odis's voice suddenly escalated. "If I hadn't come, you'd be dead by now! Naomi called me after you passed out!"
Naomi only thought Odis was the family doctor and knew nothing else.
Magnus clutched his heart and frowned. "How much longer do I have?"
Odis scolded, "Why can't you be a bit more optimistic?"
Magnus, however, was well aware of his condition and said seriously, "Odis, I don't have much time left."
Odis sighed and said, "The medicine I gave you before delayed the poison, but you almost died today. I can't guarantee how much longer you have, but I'll do my best to buy you time. When you get the antidote, give it to me first to analyze the ingredients. If it's not made of rare components and the materials are easy to find, I should be able to replicate it quickly. But you have to stay alive until I can make the antidote."
Odis's words were half comforting, half truthful. Even if they got the antidote, analyzing and replicating it would be a race against death, with a slim chance of success.
Magnus seemed indifferent to these words and simply asked, "Do you have more of the medicine that delays the poison?"
Odis was stunned. "You still want to take it? While it can delay the poison, when the Venomshade poison acts up again, it will be more painful and more severe. Delaying the poison is just a temporary fix."
"It's fine, living one more day is a blessing, isn't that what you said?" With that, Magnus swallowed the pill.
Odis handed him a glass of water, somewhat helpless. "Do you have something you need to do?"
Magnus said, "Juniper just arrived in Solara, and I'm still a bit worried."
Odis was shocked. "No way, are you planning to fly to Solara to see her? A round trip will take a day, and Juniper will cling to you. It'll take at least half a day. That means two days gone. Magnus, your time is precious now. Don't worry about Juniper. She's safe in Solara. Focus on getting the antidote with Sophie."
Magnus's eyes darkened as he pondered, "She's abroad now and doesn't know about my engagement to Sophie. When she finds out, I'm afraid..."
Odis disagreed, "In the face of life and death, everything else is trivial. Juniper will understand once she knows. But for now, don't tell her. I'm afraid she'll rush back and mess things up."
Magnus uttered, "I won't let her come back now."
Odis saw his hesitation and guessed, "Did Juniper call you, asking when you'll visit her in Solara?"
Magnus didn't deny it, "I called her."
Odis was utterly helpless. "You... you're really wrapped around Juniper's finger! All she has to do is beckon, and you lose your mind! If you really plan to go to Solara, I can't stop you. I'll do my best to keep you alive for a few more days."Odis then reminded him sternly, "But! When you get to Solara and see Juniper, even if she clings to you, you can't stay for several days! At most, stay for one day and fly back at night!"
And if Magnus really had to fly to Solara, he would have taken a private plane. Taking a commercial flight would leave an entry and exit record, which would alert the Shadow Syndicate and make them suspicious of his engagement to Sophie.
Everything Magnus had done online was to make the Shadow Syndicate believe he had completely severed ties with Juniper and that she was not his vulnerability.
After Sophie, the fake heiress, "succeeded" with the Abbotts, the Shadow Syndicate's search for the real heiress had slackened.
Last night, the Windsor Group released the latest news—Christopher's daughter Quinn successfully joined the board and would oversee the group's affairs.
Imperial Capital, Blue Bridge Bar.
Michael sat in a booth, drinking one glass after another. His face was already flushed, clearly drunk, but his mind was still clear.
Just as he lifted the last glass to down it, another hand pressed down on the glass.
A stranger's voice echoed, "It's hard to get drunk when you're upset. The more you try to drown your sorrows, the less likely you are to succeed."
Michael looked up to see an unfamiliar face and asked, "Do you know me?"
The stranger smiled thoughtfully, "Mr. Johnson of SY Group, you're quite a notable figure. Of course, I know you."
Michael smirked dismissively, "I left SY a long time ago. I'm not anyone important. You're flattering me." With that, he picked up his jacket and stood to leave.
The man twirling a ring on his left index finger, said slowly, "If you want to sever ties with SY and Magnus so badly, why not sell me your shares? Name your price."
Michael guessed the man was a competitor of SY, looking to use his shares against Magnus.
Michael chuckled, "You can't afford my price."
The man spoke with a sinister tone, "How do you know I can't afford it if you don't name it? Unless you still have some feelings for Magnus?"
"My relationship with Magnus is none of your business," Michael said impatiently. He had no intention of engaging with him.
The man behind him spoke leisurely again, "He didn't care about your friendship. Why should you care about him? Your sister died so horribly at his hands. Mr. Johnson, you're quite magnanimous."
His words were dripping with sarcasm.
Michael paused, clenched his fists, and turned to grab the man's collar, shoving him into the booth!
Michael's eyes were bloodshot as he growled, "Who the hell are you? How do you know this?"
The man laughed lazily, "Does it matter who I am? As long as I can help you get revenge, isn't that enough? Mr. Johnson, you have about ten percent of the shares, right? Why not sell them all to me? After all, Magnus was in the wrong first. It's only right for you to betray him now."
Michael tightened his grip on the man's collar, his knuckles cracking. He said through gritted teeth, "That's a separate issue! I won't stab him in the back!"
The man continued to provoke him, "Really? But did he even think about the fact that she was your only sister when he killed her? Mr. Johnson, you've been a good guy for so long that you can even forgive your sister's tragic death. Impressive!"
