Chapter 107 Living Is the Meaning

Mr. Abbott and Dr. Walker were both stunned.
Dr. Walker asked, "Have you had a biopsy done?"
Juniper shook her head, "At that time, I had a severe chest injury and couldn't have a biopsy. They only took an X-ray, and the doctor said my lung condition was very bad, so they asked me to stay in the hospital for further examination and treatment. But at that time, I had other things going on, so I left the hospital."
"Well, why don't we take another X-ray now? If needed, we can do a biopsy to confirm the diagnosis."
Juniper remained silent, her gaze dull, like stagnant water.
Christopher looked at Juniper and said, "Juniper, I will do my best to help you no matter what illness you have, but if you don't want to live anymore and have lost all desire to live, no one can help you. Lung cancer can be treated, but if you are determined to die, even the gods can't help you."

"Mr. Abbott, thank you for saving me, but I seem to have lost the will to live," Juniper replied.

"To be alive is the meaning of life. Juniper, you are just temporarily stuck in a dead end. You are young and your future is full of possibilities. I have seen more people than you have eaten meals. Let me advise you, being alive is stronger than anything else. Death is the behavior of the weak. Since destiny has allowed me to save you, it means that your life is not meant to end here. Juniper, give yourself a chance. As for the meaning of life, you can only find it if you stay alive," Christopher persuasively spoke.

His adopted son, Ronald, looked at the pale girl on the hospital bed and couldn't bear to see her pain. He said, "You are still young, even if you encounter great hardships, you should not give up on yourself so easily. Mr. Abbott is kind-hearted, and if you have even a glimmer of courage to live, he will do his best to save you."

Dr. Walker also said, "Miss, if you didn't die after jumping into the sea, it means that good days are still ahead of you."

They all tried to comfort her.

Juniper's lifeless heart finally stirred a bit.

Soon, Juniper was taken for examinations.

After a series of tests, the results came out in the evening.

Christopher asked, "Is it lung cancer? How serious is the condition?"

Dr. Walker looked at the images and reports and furrowed his brow slightly, "It's not lung cancer, it's a severe case of pulmonary emphysema. Based solely on the images, it could easily be misdiagnosed as lung cancer. Juniper, did you have a previous injury to your chest?"

Juniper nodded, "I was stabbed by a knife about one centimeter away from my heart in the left part of my chest."

Dr. Walker's face turned serious.

Christopher asked, "Is it difficult to treat?"

"Although it's not lung cancer, her pulmonary emphysema is still very severe. One is alveolar emphysema, which already exists. The other is interstitial emphysema caused by the previous chest injury. Her overall lung condition is indeed poor."

Dr. Walker asked again, "Juniper, have you had any coughing with blood before?"

"I have had it two or three times, with foamy blood," Juniper replied.

Dr. Walker sighed lightly and said, "For now, let's start with oxygen therapy. Surgery is not an option yet because of the severe inflammation in your lungs. We need to reduce the inflammation first. If the condition continues to worsen, a lung transplant might be necessary."

Upon hearing the mention of a lung transplant, Christopher's expression changed slightly, "Is it that serious?"
"I will consult with other thoracic doctors first. If we can't find a good solution, there is still another way," Anthony Walker said.

"What is it?" Christopher asked.

Anthony Walker glanced at Juniper and said, "I have a classmate at the Mayo Clinic. It is the most advanced medical institution in the world. They have a technique called bronchoscopic thermal vapor ablation, which has not been implemented globally yet. This technique is effective for severe emphysema like hers. Moreover, if the effect is only average, major thoracic surgeries like lung transplants are still safest to be done at the Mayo Clinic. My classmate has successfully performed lung transplants three times."

Christopher gripped his cane and pondered for a few seconds. "If the Mayo Clinic can cure her, Juniper, I can send you there."

"Mr. Abbott, I have no relationship with you, yet you have been so good to me," Juniper's eyes welled up.

Christopher smiled faintly. "I'm not being kind without reason. Although I like doing good deeds, I don't treat everyone this way. When I first saw you, I felt an indescribable familiarity, maybe because you resemble someone I used to know. Additionally, you are around the same age as my missing daughter, so I couldn't help but sympathize."

Anthony Walker also laughed, "Mr. Abbott, you have such a special bond with Juniper. I think you should just adopt her as your daughter. After all, you have a habit of collecting adopted sons and daughters."

"Don't joke, I have actually thought about it. I already have one adopted son and daughter, so having one more daughter wouldn't hurt," Christopher said.

Anthony Walker said, "Juniper, why don't you consider Mr. Abbott as your adoptive father?"

Christopher looked kindly at Juniper.

"Child, do you want to?" he asked.

Juniper's eyes moistened, and she gazed gratefully at Christopher. "Mr. Abbott, being able to become your family is my good fortune and also an honor for me. You saved me and still recognize me as your adopted daughter. I truly don't know how to repay you. If I am lucky enough to survive, I will be at your service for anything you need."

"That's right, you have to survive and repay me in the future. Since you are willing to live on, are you willing to go to the United States for treatment?" Christopher asked.

Juniper finally nodded.

She had thought she would die in sea.

But she didn't expect fate to let her live, saved by Mr. Abbott.

Since heaven still had a sliver of mercy for her, allowing her to experience life and death, why wouldn't she be willing to give it a try?

Christopher’s Mansion.

"What did you say? Dad has taken in another adopted daughter?" Karen just entered the house when he heard this news from the butler, Jerry.

Jerry smiled and said, "Yes, Mr. Abbott is in a good mood today. He asked me to have the kitchen prepare two more dishes. Would you like to stay and have dinner together tonight? Mr. Abbott will be back soon."

Karen clenched her fingers, but remained composed. "Sure, there's been a lot going on at the company lately and I'm exhausted. Tonight, I plan to stay home."

"Okay, let me pour you a cup of coffee. It's this year's new coco, try it."

Karen smiled lightly and bent her lips. "Sure, thank you,."

She sat on the sofa, picked up her phone, and sent a message to Ronald:[Why did Dad take in another adopted daughter?]

Soon, Ronald replied:[It's his business, we have no right to interfere.]
Karen suppressed her jealousy.

With her and Ronald managing the Windsor Group, wasn't that enough?
Do they need a few more helpers?

Although this piece of cake is big enough, people's greed knows no bounds. It's completely different to split it between two people or three people.

She could understand if Ronald and her had to split it, after all, they were family.
They were both taken out of the orphanage by Mr. Abbott when they were very young.

But now, this suddenly appeared adopted daughter, what's going on?
‘If that woman dares to have any ulterior motives. I will expose her true face as soon as possible.’ She pondered.
