Chapter 281 Mr. Blackwood, Don't Do This

Juniper's eyes were practically burning holes into Magnus.

He chuckled, giving her cheek a playful pinch. "If you let me crash here tonight, I won't just be sleeping, you know."

He was totally trying to mess with her.

Juniper felt her face heat up, her heart racing, but she kept her cool. "That's fine by me."

Magnus squinted at her, his grip on her hand tightening like he was afraid she would bolt.

He smirked. "This isn't our place. If we get too loud in the guest room, I won't care, but Juniper, you get embarrassed so easily..."

Her ears turned red, and she shot him a glare. "Then don't make too much noise."

Unless he did it on purpose.

Magnus squeezed her fingers. "If we really get into it, I might not be able to hold back."

He wasn't lying.

Juniper bit her lip, her resolve to keep him overnight starting to fade. Her grip on his hand loosened.

Just holding her like this made Magnus's desire flare up. As long as Juniper was in front of him and took the lead, he would lose all control.

It was torture.

Just as she was about to let go, Magnus spoke up, "I need to talk business with Ronald. I didn't drive, so can you drop me at the hotel later?"

Juniper's eyes lit up. "Sure."

After days of tension and cold shoulder, making up felt like a rush, impossible to resist.

Before he left, he wrapped his arm around her waist and lowered his face. "One more kiss?"

It was a question, but he didn't wait for an answer. He was already kissing her, his lips and tongue claiming hers.

There was a faint taste of tobacco mixed with the sweet flavor of fruit tea candy.

This candy had a unique tea fragrance, not as sickly sweet as other fruit candies.

Juniper opened her eyes slightly. "Did you eat candy?"

He smiled faintly. "Feeling down during the silent treatment, I had a candy to relieve stress."

Juniper didn't pity him. "You brought this on yourself."

He was the one who wanted the fight.

Magnus's nose brushed against hers, his hand on the back of her neck, his voice rough. "Yeah, I brought this on myself."

He admitted fault so quickly.

Juniper laughed, wrapping her arms around his neck. "Magnus, let's not give each other the cold shoulder anymore, okay?"

During the silent treatment, Juniper could hold out, but that didn't mean she liked it.

It was like forcing the other person to back down. Both she and Magnus were proud and stubborn. In the past, Magnus always backed down first.

According to Ophelia's twisted logic, since he was taller, he had to lower his head first so Juniper could look up.

"No cold shoulder, then should we just argue directly?" Magnus asked.

Juniper chuckled.

Argue directly? With their personalities, that seemed unlikely.

The silent treatment was more serious than arguing directly. At least arguing allowed for venting, showing both parties wanted to resolve their issues.

But the silent treatment, with no communication, could lead to separation if they weren't deeply in love.

Outside, Sophie knocked on the door. "Juniper, is Mr. Blackwood inside? I need to discuss some business with him."

Juniper blinked, surprised. "Why does everyone want to talk business with you?"

Magnus raised an eyebrow. "Maybe I'm just that good at making deals?"

Juniper rolled her eyes.

"Aren't you going to let me go?"

Just as she loosened her grip, Magnus pulled her close again and kissed her. "Don't forget to bring me a clean set of underwear when you take me to the hotel later."

Juniper's face turned bright red as she watched him leave the bedroom.

Sophie led Magnus to Christopher's study, where the air was filled with the warm, woody aroma of incense.

Sophie had dressed to impress in a cream-colored fitted wool dress, looking both homely and gentle. At first glance, her style was somewhat similar to Juniper's.

Clearly, she was trying to win him over.

Magnus wasn't buying it. He found such tactics pretty dull.

"Ms. Williams, do you have something to discuss?" he asked coldly.

Sophie moved closer, her fingers lightly touching his shoulder, her actions flirtatious. "Mr. Blackwood, have you thought about marrying me?"

Magnus frowned, his eyes filled with disdain and mockery. "What did you just say?"

"You heard me. We're both businesspeople, and business is about profit, not feelings. As the sole heir of the Abbotts, if I join forces with you, the businesses in the south and north will be united. Windsor Group and SY already have a partnership. A strong alliance through marriage would be highly beneficial for both Windsor Group and SY."

Magnus's eyes turned icy. "I don't need to consolidate my interests through marriage. You've miscalculated."

"I know you like Juniper. How about this: we have a public marriage, but in private, you can still be with Juniper. I only want the benefits. Marrying the daughter of Windsor Group isn't a bad deal for you. You just need to pretend to be a loving couple with me in front of others." Sophie smiled.

It was utterly ridiculous.

Magnus's eyes narrowed, his gaze dangerous and oppressive, staring at her hand on his shoulder.

His look was like a blade soaked in ice, cold and sharp, as if it would cut off her hand.

Sophie wasn't an ordinary person, having been in a special training camp, but facing Magnus, she still felt a chill.

Just as she was about to withdraw her hand, Magnus was quicker, grabbing her wrist.

Sophie instinctively resisted.

By the time she realized, it was too late.

Magnus was testing her.

He twisted her arm behind her back, pressing her face against the desk, harsh and violent.

"Why do you have skills? Are you from the Shadow Syndicate?" he coldly questioned.

Sophie's entire arm felt numb, as if it had been dislocated, her face turning pale from the pain.

She gritted her teeth, still denying. "Doesn't Mr. Blackwood have skills too? Where does a legitimate businessman get such skills? I've never even heard of the Shadow Syndicate. Could it be that Mr. Blackwood is from the Shadow Syndicate?"

Magnus's grip tightened.

Sophie's left arm was instantly dislocated.

Magnus nearly interrogated. "Did you poison Christopher?"

Sophie's eyes flickered, and she suddenly screamed, "Mr. Blackwood! Don't do this! What will Juniper think? Please! Let me go."

Magnus's brow twitched.

Sophie's cries for help immediately alerted the others in the villa.

The study door was pushed open by Ronald.

Juniper also hurried to the doorway.

They saw Magnus pressing Sophie down, her shoulder exposed as her clothes had slipped off.
