Chapter 402 Settling Accounts (2)
                    He heard everything.
Ophelia was completely stiff, almost in a daze.
Patrick saw Robert and was momentarily stunned. The anger and ferocity on his face quickly faded, replaced by a fawning smile, more adept than a chameleon.
"Robert, what brings you here all of a sudden? Are you here to take Lily home? Look at you, you should have told us you were coming..."
Robert lifted his long legs, stepping over the broken porcelain pieces, and walked over step by step.
His face was expressionless, and his voice was calm, "I called Ophelia several times tonight, and she didn't answer. I thought something had happened, so I came to check."
Patrick laughed and cursed, "What could happen to her! She probably didn't hear the phone! Lily, really? Not answering your husband's calls? What are you thinking!"
Robert stared at Ophelia, his gaze devoid of any emotion, "Didn't hear it or didn't want to answer?"
Patrick interjected, "She definitely didn't hear..."
Robert cut him off, "I wasn't asking you."
His tone was noticeably sharp.
Ophelia's eyelashes fluttered, but she said nothing.
Patrick hurriedly nudged her, lowering his voice in an anxious urge, "Say something! Admit your mistake, and this will be over!"
Could admitting a mistake really make it go away?
But everything she should and shouldn't have said, she had just poured out.
Could they still get along as if nothing had happened, like before?
Ophelia took a deep breath, slowly meeting his gloomy gaze. She opened her lips, but it took a while before she could make a sound, "I..."
Just as she was about to speak, Patrick pushed Ophelia towards Robert.
"Robert, it's so late, you should take Lily home! She was just arguing with us because the Perez Group always accepts your financial help. She feels she can't hold her head up around you and feels bad that you always help us, so she said those things out of spite!"
Amelia quickly chimed in, "Yes, Lily just said she wants to have a child with you! She said those things earlier just to upset us; she didn't mean them! Lily, go home with Robert and live a good life. Stop overthinking or imagining unrealistic things."
Patrick kept pushing Ophelia towards Robert, like handing over a gift.
"Go home with your husband! Your mom is right, stop daydreaming! Robert is so good, handsome, from a good family, and capable. He has so much pressure from work and socializing outside, as his wife, you should be more understanding and not throw tantrums at him!"
Robert's arms hung by his sides, indifferent to Patrick's "gift-giving" gesture.
He looked down at her with a cold gaze, a hint of mockery in his voice, "Really?"
Patrick was eager, "Of course! It's late, you two should go home! Stop arguing! Especially you, Lily, stop talking about divorce all the time! Are you a three-year-old? Marriage needs to be maintained."
Ophelia kept her lips tightly shut, saying nothing.
Patrick's clichés were still not finished.
Robert had already lost his patience and turned to stride towards the yard.
Ophelia stood still.
Patrick pushed her towards the car, warning in a low voice, "If you dare to get a divorce, don't come back to this house! I can't afford to lose face!"
He shoved her into the passenger seat of Robert's car.
Patrick closed the car door, fawning at Robert, "Robert, if she still doesn't behave and keeps talking about divorce, call me, and I'll scold her! It's all because her mom spoiled her!"
Robert started the car, ignoring Patrick's words.
He turned the steering wheel, and the black Cullinan brushed past Patrick.
Patrick was so scared he took a big step back.
Until the car sped away into the darkness.
Patrick stared at the car's shadow, cursing, "Damn it! Trying to kill me or what!"
The black car stopped in the yard of Mission Hills Villa.
Ophelia was in a daze the whole way.
It wasn't until Robert threw a video in front of her that her muddled thoughts cleared a bit.
In the video, she was emotionally distraught, covering her mouth, getting out of Thomas's car.
Ophelia's heart skipped a beat, "You had someone follow me?"
Robert sneered, his eyes full of disdain, "I don't have that much free time. But you, meeting Thomas in private while carrying the title of Mrs. Brown, isn't that too much?"
