Chapter 121: Going to the Hotel to Kidnap
A black Maybach pulled up to the hotel entrance. Magnus got out of the car and strode into the hotel lobby with long strides.
"Sir, are you here to check in?"
"Yes."
"Did you have a reservation?"
Joseph had helped Magnus to book an executive suite as he drove to the hotel. In this upscale hotel, without checking in, one couldn't even use the elevator. And even after getting into the elevator, one needed to swipe a room card to go upstairs.
Magnus handed his ID to the staff and spoke sincerely, "I want the sixth floor, I like that number."
"Alright, let me check if there are any rooms available on the sixth floor."
After a few minutes of checking, the front desk staff said, "Sir, there is only one corner room left on the sixth floor, do you mind a corner room?"
"No problem, let's proceed with the check-in."
So insistent on the sixth floor, yet not minding a corner room? The front desk staff was slightly suspicious but didn't dwell on it much. "Okay."
After Magnus had checked in, Joseph parked the car and hurried inside. He was about to go upstairs with Magnus to find out more. The front desk staff stopped them. "Sir, are you two sharing a room? You booked a room with a single bed."
Magnus didn't have time to argue with her and just pulled Joseph's arm. "Is there a law that says two men can't share a bed?"
"No." The front desk staff was speechless.
Magnus's strong and stern demeanor, coupled with his wealthy aura, made the front desk staff hesitant to say more, afraid of offending such a distinguished guest.
Magnus and Joseph entered the elevator together, swiped their room cards, and pressed the button for the sixth floor. Their movements were swift and decisive.
Joseph asked, "Magnus, what if Harper Beaumontis really Juniper and they stop us?"
"Fight back."
When he uttered those words, Magnus didn't even lift an eyelid. His expression was cold and resolute.
Joseph took a sharp breath; this entire hotel belonged to them. If a fight were to break out later, they had rushed in too hastily and hadn't brought enough backup. Joseph clenched his fist, doubting whether he would make it home safely to see his wife that night.
If Harper Beaumontreally turned out to be Juniper, he would have to ask for a raise after tonight. This wasn't an assistant's job; it was clearly a high-risk operation.
The elevator ascended floor by floor and reached the sixth floor. As the elevator doors opened, Magnus strode toward room 668. He knocked on the door with a long finger and said in a deep voice, "Room service."
The entire process flowed smoothly, not seeming staged at all. Joseph was astonished; how could Magnus execute these actions so effortlessly? Indeed, Magnus seemed to have used up all his emotional intelligence on his intellect. Pursuing his wife while pretending to be aloof, but his intellect was truly outstanding.
The person inside opened the door. "I didn't call for room service, did you knock on the wrong door?" In the instant Magnus raised his eyes, the light in his eyes gradually dimmed.
The young woman in front of him was not Juniper. "Are you Quinn?"
The young woman nodded, "Yes, I'm Quinn. You don't look like hotel staff. Who are you? Are you a fan?"
She scrutinized the man up and down, then abruptly closed the door. The gust of wind from the closing door felt icy on Magnus's face.
The woman inside said, "You'd better leave now, or I'll call the police! I've seen plenty of fans like you!"
Magnus clenched his fist. It wasn't Juniper. Disappointment quickly spread in his chest.
Joseph furrowed his brow, "How could this happen? Did we check the wrong room?"
The woman just now kept calling him a fan, so she must be Harper Beaumont. Harper Beaumontwasn't Juniper? Moreover, the woman's voice just now was indeed similar to Harper Beaumont's voice. Could it really be just a coincidence?
Half an hour earlier, a knock sounded at the door of room 668 at the Banyan Tree Hotel.
"It's me."
Juniper got up and opened the door, "Ronald, what's up?"
"You didn't have dinner, aren't you hungry? There are a few restaurants nearby. I did some research. The food should be good, want to grab a late-night snack together?"
"Sure, I'm a bit hungry."
"Let's go then."
Juniper turned back, grabbed her phone and bag, and left the hotel with Ronald.
After they ordered their food at the restaurant, Ronald suddenly said, "There's something you might need to know."
"What is it?"
"I've been in charge of the Banyan Tree Hotel for a while. Half an hour ago, the head of the hotel's tech department called me, saying that the hotel's check-in information had been leaked. Someone hacked into the hotel system and stole customer check-in information. Should we report it to the police?"
Juniper didn't hesitate. "It's best to handle this kind of thing. If the hotel's customers find out their information has been leaked and decide to sue, the hotel might have to compensate, and it's not good for the hotel's reputation."
Banyan Tree Hotel was an exclusive place. The guests who stayed at the hotel were all people of high status. Offending them would make future business difficult.
"You're right, this kind of thing can indeed lead to troublesome disputes. But if the person who hacked into the system is one of Magnus's people, should we still report it?"
Juniper hesitated for a few seconds. "I don't think that's possible. Why would he send people to hack into the hotel system? Besides, didn't Christopher say that you and SY have already reached a strategic partnership? Why would he want to offend a partner?"
"He might have learned that you're still alive and is on his way to the hotel."
Juniper was somewhat shocked, "How could he know?"
Ronald analyzed this. "It's likely that the Harper Beaumontaccount caught his attention. He must be familiar with your singing voice, right?"
Juniper suddenly realized that before coming to Imperial Capital, she had forgotten to conceal the IP address of the "Harper Beaumont" account.
Ronald remained composed and reassured her. "If he does come and insists on seeing you, it's fine. I've arranged for someone to impersonate you."
"Impersonate? But their voices are different."
"We have a voice changer; your singing voice is well-known online, so with a voice changer, it's easy to mimic a similar voice. So even if Magnus goes up and meets Harper Beaumontfrom room 668, there won't be any slip-ups."
She lowered her face slightly, her emotions unreadable.
Ronald said, "Or do you want to see him? He probably hasn't left yet. If you want to see him..."
She tugged at her lips. "Since you've already arranged things this way, it means even God thinks that tonight, it's not suitable for me to meet him. Besides, I'll be in Imperial Capital for a few more days. It's better to compose myself before seeing Jennifer."
After the two finished their late-night snack and walked back to the hotel entrance, a familiar voice from behind called out, "Juniper?"
