Chapter 138 Christopher's Own Daughter?

But Michael wasn't a fool.

There were too many loopholes in Patricia's story.

"How did you see it? Why did you go to that sanatorium? I don't even know Juniper's mother, how do you?"

Patricia evaded his scrutiny guiltily. She lowered her head, trembling, "I went to the sanatorium to please Magnus's mother. I thought it was a good way to get Magnus’ attention. Michael, I swear I was just visiting Ava, I didn't do anything else.”

"Really?"

Patricia grabbed his arm, pleading, "Michael, they all know I dislike Juniper. If they find out I was there at the time, they'll think I was the criminal! But it was Ava, not me! Please don't tell anyone. I don't want to go to jail."

Michael looked at her, half-believing. Patricia cried, tears streaming down, "Michael, you must keep this secret for me! You promised my parents you'd take care of me! Magnus wields so much power in the Imperial Capital, if he accuses me, I'll surely end up in jail!"

"Michael, don't you remember? A year ago, he fired us for that brat! He only cares about Juniper. He wanted us to pay for his mom's crimes!"

Michael's eyes softened.

Patricia continued, "Michael, I know you like Juniper. You're with Sinclair just because Sinclair resembles Juniper a bit. I understand it all. Now that Juniper is back, is she with Magnus?"

Michael shook his head, "They don't seem to be getting back together, but they are going to raise the child together."

"That's good, Michael, you still have a chance! So much has happened between them. They won’t be together again. But nothing happened between you and Juniper!"

"Michael, I know you genuinely like Juniper. Now that Juniper is back, why are you with Sinclair? Go after Juniper if you like her. She's not with Magnus now, why can't you pursue her? Even though I dislike her, if you truly like her and want to be with her, I'll sincerely bless you both!"

Michael held her shoulders, staring at her, and asked seriously, "Patricia, I'll ask you one last time, is Juniper's mother's death related to you? Tell me the truth."

"Michael, why don't you believe me? Though I may be a bit arrogant at times, I wouldn't dare to kill anyone! It was Ava. She is a lunatic and mentally unstable. She accidentally pushed Juniper's mother down! I'm not lying! She's mentally ill, so she won't be sent to jail for Juniper's mother's death! With the ongoing feud between their families, who's to say Ava didn't use her mental health issues as an excuse to harm Juniper's mother intentionally?”

After Patricia's outburst, Michael closed his eyes and slumped in his chair. His tense emotions finally relaxed as he let out a long breath.

Thankfully, it wasn't Patricia who did it. Otherwise, how would he face Juniper in the future?

The siblings in the study spoke quietly.

Sinclair leaned against the door, trying hard to listen, but she had no idea what they were talking about.

She vaguely heard them discussing Juniper's mother's death.

Was Juniper's mother's death related to Patricia?

She was thinking about it when the study door suddenly opened.

All three were startled.

Patricia was quite scared and immediately shouted, "I'm talking to my brother, what are you doing here? Are you eavesdropping!"

Sinclair reacted quickly. "I'm not, I just wanted to ask you guys what you want to eat tonight?"

Patricia didn't believe it at all. She was about to warn Sinclair, but Michael stopped her.

"Anything you cook. I'll help you. Let’s go." Michael and Sinclair went to the kitchen.

Michael washed vegetables while Sinclair chopped them.

Suddenly, he asked, "What did you hear at the door just now?"

"Nothing." She paused.

Michael explained, "Patricia has a bad temper, she might have been mean, don't take it to heart, she's just childish. When we move to Blue County Apartments, you won't have to interact with her as much."

She was surprised and looked up at him, "Michael, do you mean we’ll get married as planed?”

"Yes." Although Michael just replied like that, Sinclair felt much relieved. She thought that with Juniper's return, he would break up with her.

She thought he would break up with her now that Jupiter had returned.

Lindwood City, Christopher's Mansion.

Ronald flew back from the Imperial Capital and immediately rushed to see Christopher.

Karen was also there.

She raised an eyebrow and looked at him, saying, "You were defeated because of a woman. Yet dad praised you for remaining composed. He sees you as an outstanding leader and heir who would never compromise the group's interests for personal relationships between men and women. You actually got into a physical altercation with the leader of the cooperating party over a woman, Ronald. You truly surprised me.”

“But thank you for giving me that slice of the cake from the Imperial Capital," she said with a triumphant smile on her lips.

Unlike Ronald, she wasn't guided by emotions. Her life goal was straightforward: to inherit the Windsor Group.

She had no interest in romantic relationships.

"Where is dad?" Ronald couldn't be bothered to engage with Karen's provocations.

“He's upstairs waiting to reprimand you, but he also has some good news to tell you. I'll be leaving now as I have a flight booked to the Imperial Capital at two in the afternoon. I might miss it if I don't leave soon.”

After Karen left, Ronald strode upstairs to the study.

In the study, he lowered his head and said, "Dad, go ahead and scold me if you want."

This time, he had indeed acted impulsively. Christopher chuckled, "You're just too honest! Do you really like Juniper?"

When it came to personal matters, Ronald frowned slightly. But in front of Christopher, he chose to be honest, "Yes, I do."

He indeed had feelings for Juniper.

"But from what I see, Juniper is not interested in you. Is it really worth it?" Christopher, always astute, understood everything.

Ronald replied, "I like her, it's my own business. I don’t care if she likes me too.”

Christopher nodded approvingly, "You are smart enough."

After that, Christopher handed him a sealed envelope. "Son, I didn’t call you back just because of your conflict with Magnus, but mainly because of a personal matter. Twenty-five years ago, my daughter Quinn was taken from the hospital. She was wearing a necklace. I've been searching for her, and recently, there's been some clues."

"Have you found her?"

“I'm not certain yet. I met a girl who had the necklace. I managed to get a strand of her hair. I need you to take it for testing right away. Keep this to yourself for now, and don't tell anyone.”

"Okay."
