Chapter 253 Thinking, Almost Going Crazy
Magnus lowered his head, gently touching her forehead with his. "Once this crisis is over, I'm handing SY over to a pro manager. From now on, all my time is for you and Jenny. We've missed too much. Seven years... how many seven years do we get in life? As for my mom, her mental state isn't great, and she can't leave Imperial Capital. I'll hire the best caregivers for her. My adoptive dad, who knows her well, can visit her when he's free. Moving to Solara doesn't mean I can't come back. I can fly back to see her. If you don't want to see her, then you don't have to. After all, you're marrying me, not my mom."
Juniper looked at him, tears rolling down her cheeks.
What Magnus said was like choosing her over Ava.
But it all happened so fast she couldn't believe it.
Just last night, in Sherlock Valley, Magnus had said he wouldn't take responsibility for her. But now, he was saying he would leave everything behind and take her and Jenny to live abroad.
She couldn't tell which words were true.
"Magnus, are you serious about what you're saying now?" Juniper asked carefully.
He nodded, his eyes solemn. "Yes, my promises to you have always been true. On the international seas, I said we would live and die together. You're alive, and so am I. Isn't that proof I didn't lie to you?"
Juniper was resilient and brave, she wasn't even afraid of death.
But at this moment, being held by Magnus, she felt an unprecedented fear.
When people had expectations, they feared those expectations being shattered.
What Magnus said was like leading her to take another gamble. Even if it ended in ruin, it couldn't be worse than now, could it? What if it succeeded?
But she was greedier than Magnus thought.
Juniper looked at him uneasily. "These days, Jenny and I have missed you a lot. Even if we have to go back to Southern City, can you... stay with us for a few days first? Sinclair just called me. She said she and Michael are getting married this week and invited us to attend. How about you take us to Southern City after their wedding?"
She was afraid he wouldn't agree and found an excuse to delay.
What Juniper didn't know was that Magnus, like her, was also clinging to this last bit of warmth.
Michael and Sinclair's wedding was this Sunday, and today was Monday.
They had a whole week to spend together, which was enough for Magnus. The sweetness he had tasted in his life was pitifully little. Because he had tasted it once with Juniper seven years ago, he couldn't forget it even after seven years of emptiness.
People who had suffered too much didn't need to taste too much sweetness, just a little was enough to drown them.
Magnus was silent for a few seconds before finally agreeing, "Okay."
As soon as he said it, Juniper wrapped her arms around his neck, lowered her head, and suddenly kissed him.
Tears slid down to her lips, with a slight bitterness.
Juniper had been suppressing her feelings for too long. Since she heard the news of Magnus's death, the more beautiful the memories, the more they flooded her mind, constantly tormenting her.
Her longing for him was like a flood, overwhelming her.
"Magnus, I've really missed you these days."
This time, Juniper just said it straight up: she missed him.
If she wasn't going crazy with longing, someone as reserved as Juniper would never say it.
As she said this, her body trembled slightly, and her eyes were red.
Seeing him just looking at her deeply without speaking for a long time, Juniper bit her lip. "I really missed you."
Almost to the point of madness.
He placed one large hand on her lower back, pulling her into his arms, their bodies tightly pressed together. At the same time, his other hand cupped the back of her head, pressing her against him, pinning her against the study wall, sealing her lips with a kiss.
Juniper went limp in his arms, unable to support herself, clinging to his lean arm and panting in his embrace.
Magnus kissed her from her lips to her collarbone. Juniper tilted her head slightly, her slender, pale fingers almost wrinkling the black shirt he was wearing. Just as she was about to collapse, Magnus scooped her up in his arms.
He held her, the kiss not stopping but becoming more intense as he placed her on the desk, standing in front of her.
Juniper's mind went blank from the kiss, but she heard herself asking in a trembling, choked voice, "In these eighteen days, did you miss me?"
Did he ever have the impulse to reply to my messages?
He paused slightly, his dark eyes looking at her flushed face, pressing his forehead against hers, and said clearly, "Yes, I almost went crazy missing you."
Juniper clung to his shoulder, and when their eyes met, the misty look in her eyes seemed to create a vortex, pulling them tightly together.
The kiss fell wantonly, unable to stop.
"Magnus, how's your injury..." Odis walked in with a medical kit, stunned.
Juniper was startled, feeling like she had been caught doing something wrong. She instinctively burrowed into Magnus's arms.
Magnus held her in his arms, glaring at the door with bloodshot eyes, and coldly shouted, "Get out!"
Odis was speechless. How could they kiss and hug in the study?
Judging by the situation, if he hadn't walked in, the girl in Magnus's arms would probably have been stripped naked by now.
Odis maintained a polite smile. "Sorry to interrupt."
He exited like a gentleman.
Magnus shouted again, "Close the door!"
The door closed.
Juniper slowly peeked out from his arms, cautiously looking around before breathing a sigh of relief. "Who was that?"
How rude, just barging in.
Magnus looked at her playfully. "The doctor here to change my bandages."
But it seemed they were quite familiar.
Juniper's face was burning. "Is he your friend?"
"Yes."
Magnus raised his hand, straightening her disheveled loungewear, his gaze falling on her chest, frowning. "Why aren't you wearing a bra?"
He hadn't felt it earlier, but she definitely wasn't wearing one.
Juniper's ears turned red. "It was uncomfortable, so I took it off. There's no opposite sex else at home, just Jenny and Naomi..."
His eyes darkened. "Am I not male?"
"Then I'll go put it on."
She was about to get off the desk when Magnus grabbed her.
He pulled her back, holding her in his arms and kissing her for a while longer.
Juniper panted in his arms. "There's still a guest outside. It's not good to keep him waiting, is it?"
Magnus grabbed a jacket hanging on the chair and wrapped it around her. "Go put it on. That guy might stay for dinner."
